Due to scheduling conflicts with another contractor installing a deck for me, I threw Matt a few curveballs. At least twice I had to ask him to move his start date, and when his team did arrive, the deck contractors were totally in his way. Throughout, Matt was patient and focused on his work. The guys he brought with him worked tirelessly over four days to excavate, remove old materials, prepare proper drainage missing from the old wall, rebuild the wall with new EP Henry pavers and regrade the area around the new wall - as well as around my driveway. I could tell he was someone who enjoyed his work and was focused on high quality outcomes for customer projects. Brian did not disappoint. Every step of the process was a good one. My first point of contact was through Yelp messaging. That's when I first knew I was on the right track because Brian promptly replied. Needless to say we were surprised and dismayed. We called a couple of companies and were originally leaning towards another company when RTE said they were booked out for a month. However we had them come out for a quote anyways and I'm glad that we did. Matt came to look at our house and explained everything much better than the other company. He even drew a map of the house and where he wanted to put the suction points and the equipment. What he said made much better sense than the other company and the placement of the equipment and suction points seemed to be better thought out as well with 4 vs 3 suction points and in much better locations to suck out the radon. Even though RTE's quote was around $1,000 higher than the other company I had absolutely no problem going with them because of their professionalism and knowledge during the quote process. I wanted to make sure it was done right and it is not a time to cut corners. They even said they could do it on a weekend to do it quicker than the month out I was originally dismayed by. Matt came on Sunday and installed the sytem and explained everything. Matt did excellent work and cleaned up everything afterwards and walked me through how the system works. It's been almost 48 hours since the unit was installed and I'm happy to report that we've gone from over 40 to under .1. The previous owner purchased and had Jiffy install a new slider just before closing. She also purchased a screen, but never told me about it. After my mom passed, I went through the invoices the previous owner left me (I was thinking about having some repair work done) and noticed there was a note from Jiffy that the screen would be left with the new owner (me). So, I called to follow up on it. I was informed the screen was delivered to her (but is nowhere to be found). I asked for pricing on a new screen. Steve came over after a month or so and brought a screen door for a fitting. I explained that I live in a condo community that REQUIRES board approval for any exterior changes by homeowners - yes, that includes a new screen door. He tried to talk me into letting them install it anyway and I refused (politely and because I don't intend to get on my condo board's and/or neighbor's bad side). Deep in grief, I paid for the screen in full and kept the screen. Steve promised to come back and install it once I had approval. I made a mistake on the check and Steve came out the NEXT day (a Saturday) to get a replacement check. That is the last I heard from or saw Steve. I called and left messages after the board approved the new screen door. I was only able to get an answer when I blocked my number prior to calling. At this point in my life, I don't chase low character people. And I also don't start big, expensive projects with companies I haven't worked with before. I have lots of work to have done around here (I purposely bought an outdated home in need of superficial repairs/replacements so I could update it to my liking). I know who I WON'T be calling in the future to provide services. If someone will dodge your calls over a couple hundred bucks, you KNOW you can't trust them with larger, more expensive projects.
