I was on crutches, so she brought everything over to me, and she asked me to flag her down to pick everything up so I didn't have to struggle with my crutches. I have many medical appointments this last month, and she was the first one who made this very considerate and thoughtful offer. Abram and Alexis helped me with my X-rays. They were both very patient and kind. They made sure to help and support me. They were friendly throughout the process even when I stepped on a button that accidentally moved the bed. They were both very kind. Abigail checked me out. She was very patient in finding appointments that would work for me both as a follow up with Dr. Gipsman and for a first appointment for a second specialist in their office. She was smiling, friendly, professional, and kind. I met with Dr. Aaron M Gipsman to go over the results of the tests for my knee. He had excellent bedside manner. He answered all of mine and my husband's questions. He explained everything to our understanding and satisfaction. He explained everything he was doing during the exam and explained any findings afterward while consistently checking in with me to make sure I was fine. I was so pleased with this visit and team, that I came straight home to write this review. If you need an orthopedic surgeon for your knee, I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Gipsman and his team.

I can't thank enough Dr. Billings and Dr. Movasaghi as well as their entire staff (specially Jennifer from PreOp) in helping my surgeries become the success they are and becoming! On late August I had the need to have trigger finger release surgery with Dr. Billings and on December 2nd I had total knee replacement surgery with Dr Movassaghi. And as I recover I would say that my surgeries were a success and becoming a success, all thanks to The attention at the Clinic, and the hospital, the time they took to answer my questions and to make sure that I understood everything that was being said and proposed, and their great efforts and professionalism. I really walked away satisfied and confident That I was in good hands. And I was, now that I can look forward to a full recovery on my knee replacement I like to think that I am in in good hands and I would 100% recommend this team to anyone in need for quality medical assistance. Anyway, the good doctor was able to remove the glass without any local anesthesia, and the pain stopped! I was in the examination room with her, and asked other questions related to podiatry and the fitness of shoes. He explained the purpose of shoes and had a nice skeletal model of the foot and how it is supposed to flex. While being flatfooted, it seems the foot has to work extra-hard and that is the reason for early pain while walking. He is a patient Doctor with a nice small practice which we both feel comfortable in. He is close to home and on Fairoaks, close to Old Town, allowing another reason to stop for breakfast or lunch, as he has mornings for patients. I would recommend this Doctor for any minor foot operations, and as always get a second opinion.

My insurance company, UCLA Medicare Advantage Prestige Program identified Dr. Michael Avakian as…read morethe appropriate podiatrist to treat my feet (multiple broken toes) because I have bone cancer. He has stellar reviews. And I immediately understood why: he came himself to let me in the side gate next to the handicapped spot. He was surprised to see me with only one shoe. I explained that the pain was so severe that I could not get a shoe on my left foot and was wearing a Bomba sock instead. But from the moment I encountered the staff my " appointment " for which I had waited THREE WEEKS was a travesty. They had no record of my appointment (which had been made directly by my insurance company) nor could they find the materials I had texted to the office at their instruction 3 weeks earlier. It turns out, after a very unpleasant exchange that I had " texted " to their email address. They did, in fact, have it. Calls were made to the Medical group at UCLA (not the people who could help me) and finally I myself called the line reserved for Prestige plan patients (we pay a modest fee to the medical group to have help navigating the complex health system). Without reviewing my extensive records the representative (Brittany) could not help me immediately. I asked for a supervisor (Patricia) who for obvious reasons was apologetic but also unable to help. Since the staff had treated me like a criminal in the office--no appointment, no insurance, no right to be there (could it have been that they assumed only a homeless person would walk around with one shoe and one sock) I decided to leave and call my insurance company from home. Dr. Avakian, who had heard the entire saga from his office, followed me out to the street to apologize. He seems like a kind and competent man. But his staff is rude and careless. At home I was able to reach my regular navigator, Andrea, but my appointment in Westwood is not until January 2! By then my ties will either have healed or dropped off. This is the fault of modern healthcare not Dr. Avakian. His staff is a serious obstacle to getting appropriate treatment, but I am confident that if you can tolerate their rudeness your reward will be a capable and thoughtful podiatrist.

Frustrated, my wife found another podiatrist, Dr. Mark Kidon on Blue Shield's website (he had numerous stellar reviews), who, within seconds of my wife removing her shoes, pegged the problem as bunions. After successful surgery on both feet, all is well, and we will both be going to Dr. Kidon from now on for any foot issues. If a foot doctor can't diagnosis bunions, what's left to be said? Fast forward to this week and a bill comes in the mail from Claire Futenma's office for that visit 14 months ago when she was unable to diagnose what Mark Kidon was able to instantly. It's shameful to charge for a complete waste of my wife's time, but it's outrageous that it took so long for the bill to arrive. My wife called Dr. Futenma's office to protest the charge and the poor billing practice, but only received excuses about the billing staff. She was told there was nothing the office could do, so she was responsible for the payment since it had been sent to insurance - which is a moot point. And really? The bill came from Claire Futenma's office and there's nothing that Claire Futenma's office can do about it? Talk about adding insult to injury. Dr. Futenma, you should be ashamed.

Another Dr. who shall remain unnamed diagnosed my problem as toenail fungus, but I knew that Dr. was wrong. Dr. Futenma agreed with me. I appreciated her friendly demeanor, and I am glad I chose to see her. The Huntington Medical Foundation is getting rid of their podiatry division as of June 1, I believe. Dr. Futenma will be in private practice. In my opinion, that is just as well. I will continue to see her at her new office.
