Office never answers the phone. I've been trying for a week now. Not sure how they stay in business?

Today we went and met with Derrick W. Su, Hematologist We…read moreused to go to CHOC but now that a family member is over 18 we found this location. Our family was Extremely impressed by the professionalism and care, Dr. Su gave us. For example, He explained prior labs, a course of action, medication management. Additionally, I personally think through my observations, he's probably the best hematologist I've encountered in the past several years! The Office staff was very nice as well.

Honestly, i dont know how some of these posts are writing such negative reviews. I have been seeing…read moreDr . salimi for a while now, and PA Jenny Joo, never had I had any issues booking an appt with front desk ( Fay is amazing), , Never had i had an issue with seeing the MD, ( Dr Salimi ) or Jenny Joo who are BOTH AMAZING: , great bedside manner , actively listen, and isnt afraid to have an open dialogue with my medical background and his/her expertise. We have discussions and come with a game plan that will make sure a patient like me will follow through. No joke, Dr Salimi's skillfulness, and using his art of negotiation technique he was able to have a "come to Jesus" moment with me and accomplish the impossible. Have me agree to do next steps and actually have me follow through. Anyone else, would have found me debating, and squirming my way out of it. Kudos to him! The facility itself is located next to Saddleback memorial, inside the UCI building, and same building as Harvard Eye Institute. Due to its location, right smack in the center of Laguna Woods ( Aka Leisure World) the demographic is definitely more older/ geriatric. Those communities in itself need skillful and patient clinicians , seriously its an art. It can be demanding and challenging amd rewarding all at the same time. I know, i personally have experience with the demographic starting early in life working in healthcare. The parking situation can be a bit like game of thrones depending on times you go. Grannies are feisty over parking for sure! There is ADA parking in the underground parking and outside the uncovered parking lot around the side. I learned a long time ago, to go later in the day, that way the traffic is gone, parking is plentiful and older crowds are probably eating lunch and resting. Care to keep you parking pass because at this doctors office they validate parking. So no worries there. Other places like Wave imaging on the first and 4th floor do not. Today's visit : Today, i visited and was tended to by : Chemo Nurse : Rose Carrera. What a Rose ,she was!! She was able to be such a ray of sunshine and calming force to help start my line and my therapy. We had to adjust many times due to certain factors. Between her skillset and my ability to get creative to solve a problem we were both able to manuver a perfect way to keep the line going and finish the therapy. Yay! What was supposed to be an hour procedure, ended up taking 3.5 but for me, its a marathon not a sprint. Slow and steady and 150 mm flow is best for me. I appreciate Nurse Rose and the other Staff today in allowing my experience to go from 10/10 stress/anxiety to 1/10. Having my mom being able to be next to me by my side and support me on the reclining chairs and open floor plan with Alot of windows and natural light makes a huge difference. I mean this office sees and treats all types of patients. As an Oncology and Hemotology specialty you may be seated next to someone getting treated with Chemo, blood infusion, transfusion or any other type of treatment. Everyone has a story, all ages. All treated with Grace, Compassion, and Patience and excellent Patient Care! Being on the younger side, I can see this from a different lens and appreciate the beauty of what Compassionate Care Center does for the community and lives up to their name. Thank you everyone who helped me today. From front desk, the scheduler, Triage Nurse, Chemo nurse : Rose, and everyone in between. I appreciate you! Its ok to be your own advocate for yourself and loved ones. Here, you will be heard and your concerns addressed. Thats huge for me. 10/10. Nothing but good vibes here. I hope no one has to deal with a loved one in this speciality. But , if you find yourself or a loved one , be sure that Compassionate Care Center will take care of you. Hot tip: starting Aug 1,2026 new rules start with Parking validation. You need to take a photo of your cars liscense plate and they will manually input your car so you can get validation and not worry about paying. While visiting the MD , during clinic, or if under going Chemotherapy, Infusions or other Treatments that may take a while.

Since this was during the covid pandemic, I was allowed to go in only for the initial consultation and for her first infusion. They have a great covid protocol in place, so we never felt nervous about her visits. During the initial consult, Dr. Reese spent a long time with us, explaining in detail about the cancer and about what to expect during the treatments. He drew pictures and wrote key words on some sheets of paper we were able to take home and study. We felt he really cared about her outcome. They have a web portal for communication that allowed us to submit questions and usually had Dr. Reese or a staff member get back to us that same day. They were also great at working through insurance issues with us. We never felt overlooked or ignored, and my wife said all of the front office staff and nurses were kind and helpful. Unlike restaurant reviews where you end it by saying "I can't wait to come back!", well, I'll say we do feel comfortable continuing to see Dr. Reese for follow-ups, and should a similar need arise in the future, UCLA Health And Dr. Reese will likely be the first place we ask for!
