The doctors are great! It is the staff that brings down this organization. I have had issues with the front desk staff being rude, not understanding the job - not explaining why they refuse to take state paperwork and even telling me the paperwork from the state is not from the state! Furthermore, scheduled for surgery later this week. With my insurance I do not have a copay. I have co-insurance which means after the insurance determines what they will adjust on the charges and pay - then I pay. They are calling me, harrassing me for payment, insulting me telling me I can't afford to pay, and then threatening to send me to collections for not paying for services that I have not had! Save yourself the headache and do not go to this group. read more

I went to EMOG for a minor knee injury of which I was seen,diagnosed and taken care of pretty quickly. I recently started going to EMOG again after rupturing my Achilles. I've been seeing Dr. Patel who was recommended by a close friend of mine. Dr. Patel is simply put... awesome. He is very attentive and does a good job explaining things to you. I thought I'd be able to be aggressive with my rehab and Dr. Patel did a great job explaining the risks of being aggressive and has given me a plan that has safely put me ahead of schedule with my recovery, I have no plans on having anymore ankle injuries but would hands down go back to Dr. Patel to be treated. Side note - I've visited now several times and all the ladies at the front desk have always been friendly. It's a very busy practice so it's great that the staff is friendly in an environment that is so fast paced. read more

Tough group to recommend but not because of the doctors...because it is overly crowded most of the time and as I walk with a cane and cannot stand or sit too long...I had to find another knee doctor. On two occasions I waited an hour to 90 minutes before I met with a doctor Dr Patel seemed to be a good physician but because of the overcrowding of patients he was rushing in and out of appointments and I felt uncomfortable. DR. Ryan made me wait 30 minutes in a closed room. I asked someone if there was a problem. They said they would remind him I was there. After an additional 10 minutes I walked out. IF that is your form of care. I can pay someone else that ACTUALLY CARES. I am a former patient of Dr Patel who also works at EMOG. He is great when I broke my leg. Here's the deal with this place. I dislocated my elbow and I was treated at JFK hospital. Dr. Ryan was the attending orthopedic doctor that day. After I got discharged I was referred to follow up with Dr. Ryan. My appointment was at 11am on a Monday morning. I came a little earlier to fill in the paperwork. However, it took an hour to see the doctor for a 11am appointment. Why should we set up an appointment for? They should have just made in a walk in office. Nothing against Dr. Ryan but this place is slow. I went here the second time for another follow up and it's the same thing slow as can be. The nurse apologized for being slow the first because I was a new patient. I was okay with that, but they said it would be much quicker the following visits. This time was the same as I waited for 1 hour to see the doctor. I was hoping the office to be good so I can switch my orthopedic doctor but after this I will continue my search. read more

My husband came here 1st time to see Dr. Ryan for a 11am appointment on Monday. As soon as I walked in, I see several patients waiting, which didn't seem so bad since this office has several doctors so now everyone should be waiting for one doctor. The waiting time should be quick, right? Absolutely NOT!!! 50 minutes later, they called my husband's name and sat him inside a room to wait for the doctor again. I also notice these receptionists are horrible. As I'm sitting in the waiting area, I hear everything. Hey, ever heard of patients rights like HIPAA laws? Well, apparently they don't here. The have a tv turned on and volume is loud so of course when speaking to patients, their volume needs to be louder. Um, yeah thanks for repeating people's social security numbers, name and address. Our mistake for coming here without reading other Yelp reviews. We're not convinced that Dr. Ryan is great doctor either. He just happened to be the assigned doctor for my husband when he went into ER at JFK medical center. Being new to central jersey, we didn't know which orthopedic doctor is good so decided to go on a whim here and made an appointment with Dr. Ryan for the follow up visit. Very disorganized front desk. I was sitting for over an hour after my appointment time and had to go up and remind them I was waiting for them to admit me into the back. Then I was waiting for a quick X-ray and once again I was completely passed over, three people who arrived after me were called in and again I had to physically insert myself into the conversation and say I've been waiting. Follow up has been a nightmare as well. I had some concerns regarding an MRI that I was given a script for, and the back and forth with the office is ridiculous. No response, so hard to even get through to anyone. Doctor was ok enough but the process is such a mess and made my experience horrific. read more

This place destroyed my quality of life, Dr. Nilesh Patel destroyed my foot. What was supposed to be a minor fix turned into a nightmare. Biggest regret of my life. 3 yrs later I'm still trying to improve upon the mess he left me in. Severe nerve damage, plantar plate rupture, total loss of flexibility and function, left me needing multiple reconstructive surgeries. All about the money, doesn't care about patient outcome. If only I met with other doctors I could have avoided many unnecessary years of never ending pain. I went their for PT ,I'm here to tell you they are the best!!! 3 month I had gone to another PT office so I had a comparison hands down they got me where I needed to be! The whole staff from the time you walk are warm and may you feel at home. Jennifer the head therapist is the best, Amy,is a pure delight besides be great at what she do! All the therapists are good at what they do! I will always go there for therapy their the best compared to the rest!!! If I could I will rate ( -1 )star this place, rude staff that didn't want to disclose Office Manager full name, email address and direct contact telephone number to report her unprofessional staff, failed to fully disclose right from the beginning entire administrative process, didn't want to provide in writing that patients will not be financially responsible if they use a facility of their choice out of the health insurance network and all trouble and inconvenience caused for cancelling none invasive surgery within 24 hours before the procedure. Nothing bad to say about the doctor I am not even going to mention his name unfortunately the stuff that works in this place has a poor customer service and lack of compassion. Young employees for cheap labor very convenient for the owners. I will never return to this place. They don't care the patient is in pain with 3 broken vertebrates!!!! read more

At this point I'm giving 4 stars until I have my surgery in five days lol! As far as the front desk I feel they improved quite a bit. They might of got the heads up from Doctor Lombardi. As far as waiting long, that is not a issue to me. I feel if you wait long, they are taking their time with their clients. That they did when I finally was called in. Dr Ryan took his time and answered any question I asked he was very accommodating. Plus I did get x-rays. He was great! I have several Doctor friends that claim they are the best. One of them who I call Dr. Jay told me he was having knee surgery the week before me by Dr. Ryan. So I am more concerned with the physician. The worst front end staffing!! The schedule staff scheduled me to see a doctor who's been working there for over 18 years and does not take my insurance. They took my insurance information prior to scheduling my appointment which took over 3 weeks to see. When arriving for the appointment they tell I have to pay off of pocket because the doctor does not take this insurance. The incompetent staff quotes an out of pocket cost of over $200 when speaking to manager the cost dropped to $177. WTF!! These people are not patient oriented, lack professionalism, lack responsibility, and lack compassion to a patient who's in pain and needs to see a specialist. Common sense is that you would call me prior to arriving and inform a patient of the mistake. The attitude of the manager was sickening!! read more

The office is filled with rude, incompetent staff. I had a visit in September of 2020, paid for my office visit up front, then in March of 2021 (6 months later!) I receive another bill, described as "Transfer from Patient". I call the office and all I get is terrible attitude and excuses. Stay away unless you like surprise bills months later. read more

As a healthcare professional myself, I feel very confident in the care that I received here. I had a good experience here. The staff here are kind, knowledgeable and thorough with my care. I saw Dr. Franklin Chen and his assistants Erica and Flo, due to a broken ulna from a motor vehicle accident. I received a great treatment plan from Dr. Chen and am grateful to him and his team. Dr Chen and his team are fabulous, they explain step by step your issues and give you all your options. He is a skilled surgeon and performed my surgery with the utmost care. He also was attentive during the recovery post op appts after surgery and recommended physical therapy. I would definitely recommend this facility to my family and friends who need to be seen or need Hand Surgery. read more

I wish I could give 0 stars. My 97 year old (veteran) grandpa had an apt to see Dr. Todd C. Ryan. We were referred by Dr. Paradiso from the V.A. His first appointment was for October 3. They refused to see him because the aide that accompanied my grandpa couldn't answer all their questions. Then my grandpa had another appointment scheduled on October 10 and this time my Uncle accompanied him, answered all their questions and filled out all their forms. After a lengthy wait, my Uncle went to the receptionist to see what was going on and she said, "Oh, we don't see patients from the V.A." Which they do!!! Doctors are normal here. But receptionists are absolutely disrespectful. It is normal practice for receptionists to be rude, to try to get rid of the patient as soon as they can, and to hang up. I went to EMOG for almost 2 years now to treat for my neck, back, and shoulder. They have some of the GREATEST DOCTORS THERE. tHE STAFF IS ALSO MOST HELPFUL and courteous. Even though I am impatient I don't mind the wait because the doctors like to take care of and explain things to their clients. Dr. Joseph Lombardi did my BACK SURGERY and I am having an amazing recovery for the most part. i was scared with the stigma that back surgery comes with however I am thankful i was in such careful and capable hands. I was referred to this group by the Emergency Dept at JFK Hospital. I sustained multiple fractures in my left arm after a work accident. Dr. Chen was my surgeon and followed my progress for several months after my surgery. I found this practice to be excellent. The entire staff is effective, professional and pleasant to work with. My appointments were always on time and Dr Chen was excellent not only in his surgical proficiency but also his bedside manner. His communication was thorough and answered all of my questions to my complete satisfaction. His support staff provided excellent care and documentation was complete with all necessary scripts and work excuses. Highest recommendation. read more

They are unorganized (running a little behind meant 2 hours), unsympathetic ("everyone is waiting, sorry"), and incompetent telling me the MRI needed approval which it doesn't. This is one of the most unorganized places I've ever been to. The staff is beyond rude and the wait is absolutely horrible. Especially with covid going on, they take forever to see patients..all to be in the exam room for 5 minutes. Waiting room has 17 chairs in it and almost every time I go I'm told I have to wait in my car because all the seats are taken (obviously because of covid). I understand protocol, but if I'm scheduling an appointment they should really cut off the amount of people they schedule at one time. They overbook way too much. Also nobody ever answer the phone. And don't even get me started about coming in "alone". My husband came in with me once and he had to leave. Again, I understand the deal with covid..but tell us this while we're on the phone making the appointment, not when we both walk in the day of. Overall this place has been a nightmare. Horrible ...Didn't care for the Dr .I was the last patient of the day and rushed out.....THEN i had to wait for my pre certificaton for and MRI. Normal is 3 days. A week and a half later I called THEM. She said we need to know where you want to go...WHY wouldn't they call and ask me...now 2 weeks later I'm still waiting and the girl that handles this isn't in and NOBODY else has the password. I would give -1 if possible. I have been to this place. Too much waiting. Worst Place and Met Doctor Dr. Shady Hassan for my Back problem. He didn't paid attention well. Not recommend this Doctor or Facility. They gave a Back Brace and Billed $470 to Insurance just for a plastic piece and with my Insurance it was reduced to $230. The same belt was available at Amazon less than $50. Spoke to billing department about this charges and hopeless Billing team. This place was great ! As a new patient I felt welcomed and the staff was great! I did not have to wait long and Dr.Lombardi was fantastic.

I was referred to EMOG/Dr. Chen following a workplace injury. Given the elapsed time between the injury and the required surgery, said surgery became more complex as did the potential side effects and extended recovery time. Dr Chen and the staff at EMOG, as well as Jennifer and the staff at the EMOG physical therapy department, always made me aware of the situation and what to expect going forward. Thanks to their skills, honesty and overall "bedside manner," I am happy to say that I am definitely on the road to recovery thanks in no small part to the entire team at EMOG. If you have a need for any orthopedic consult and/or treatment (in my case, specifically for the arm/elbow), you should definitely consider Dr Chen and the rest of the EMOG team. read more

I see some of these negative reviews and the biggest complaint seems to be about the waiting time....which is understandable. These are some of the best back doctors around. Unfortunately, because of that word of mouth more and more people probably started to migrate to that office and therefore increasing wait times for everyone. I saw Dr. Patti. Every appt I had there wasn't much of a wait, 20m at most. The last appt I had I got called back quickly but waited for a while in the room. The total time I spent there was about an hour or hour and a half. I haven't experienced these 2-3 hour waits people are saying are a "normal" occurrence. Dr. Patti did my surgery and I am doing great. As for the front desk, I haven't experienced any rudeness or anything. The bottom line is that the quality of these doctors is very high and because of that, they deal with a lot of patients. This will naturally cause longer wait times. read more

Went to this practice due to "Top Doc" rating for Dr. Lombardi. Never got to see him. After spending 1.5 hrs in the outside waiting room (where I discovered this is a high volume operation, I got moved to an examination room. Long story short, after another Hr. or so, I'd had enough. I'm certain Dr. Lombardi deserves his Top Doc rating. It just arrears he forgot how he earned it. I walked out and so I write this review. What a shame... read more

My husband had surgery last week also he had an appointment yesterday to see a doctor due to the weather the office was closed. No phone call no nothing. Call this morning because he's in brutal agony can't see your doctor again. The staff at this office is rude. Even explaining that you're in agony they still are rude one of the ladies in the office actually hung up on him I had to call back and still there's nothing they can do for him I've never encountered such rudeness in my life after 20 something years of being a patient there. Never again we are currently looking to go elsewhere. If you're thinking of having back surgery think twice we are living with the reality of what people are really like and how places like this treat people when they can't accommodate all of their patients. read more
