Since he's candy-obsessed, we reached out to Chocolate Works, and the owner went above and beyond to make magic happen. Even though their specialty is chocolate (which isn't my son's favorite), they thoughtfully curated a private, make-your-own candy workshop tailored entirely to his tastes and interests. The kindness, patience, and genuine excitement from the owner and staff made my son feel so special and included. It's businesses like Chocolate Works--with their heart, flexibility, and dedication--that remind me there is still so much good in the world. We are beyond grateful for this memorable experience and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a sweet, personalized treat! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

They are also known for their salt water taffy. The shop is always very clean and well lit. I attended a bridal shower and brought a huge amount of salt water taffy to Michigan so all the attendees could go home with some and they all loved it! I also brought boxes of fudge which I preordered and the shop wrapped each fudge bar with colored ribbons that matched the colors for the upcoming wedding. The fudge was another huge hit with all the women attending the bridal shower. My favs are milk chocolate covered orange peels and milk chocolate cashew turtles. They are both delicious and are very crave worthy. The shop is usually uncrowded unlike candy stores at the mall. Every box has waxed paper folded neatly around the chocolates within which makes a lovely presentation if you are presenting the box to someone as a gift.

A (careful) step up into the shop and you enter a shop that looks like it comes from another time. I mean that in the best possible way. The interior design and decor are charming and feel like you're walking into someone's home - except that the home is FILLED with candy! The lady who helped me was super nice and charming. She answered my questions without any issues. I wound up purchasing sugar free toffee chocolates with peanuts on top. This is not a candy I find everywhere, so it was nice to see it here. As she packed up my order, she gave me a good piece of advice "Don't have too many in one day." If anyone has ever eaten sugar free candies before, you know this is indeed very good advice! Going into my third year living in Summit I had never ventured into Sweet Nothings. But Friday I…read morewas on the hunt for marbles. Marbles you say? Yes. Why do you want to play Holesies with some 1930's street urchins? Unimportant. But while walking past Sweet Nothings (See? Back on track) I had an epiphany. Gumballs! Marbles more delicious cousin. And definitely easier to chew. I went inside for gumballs. Really cute inside. Candy. It's a candy store. Went to the counter. Woman said, "The Farmer's Market is cancelled on Sunday because of the Nor'easter." Good to know. "I see you at the Farmer's Market I work the (redacted) booth." Very thoughtful right off the bat. Gumballs and other candy available by the pound. Got a couple gumballs. Glass cases full of chocolates. And truffles. Some sold by the piece, some by the pound. Oh the flavors. I got a salted caramel chocolate something. I'm really not doing the flavors justice. So many flavors. I'm going to jump ahead to say everything was scrumptious. This was one of the words the urchins taught me. But I want to share this anecdote. Kid comes in and wants to buy some candy. It's not enough to use a credit card, below their minimum. He doesn't have enough cash. This causes a fight. A fight? Yes. They want him to take it and pay them tomorrow. He doesn't want to take it. They won't let him leave until he does. He reluctantly takes it repeatedly promising he will bring the money tomorrow. They shrug. Shrug I tell you. She tells me, "He's a nice kid he comes in all the time. His brother comes in." This is why you patronize small businesses. They don't do this at CVS. They're not fronting Starbursts at 7-11. Willy Wonka? Don't get me started. Turned my cousin into a strawberry milkshake. Go to Sweet Nothings and buy some candy. You'll be glad you did.
