When we first moved in, we loved the 1bdrm layout. We also had a good experience the person that we worked with, Nathaniel. We were given 1 parking spot and my husband was left to finding a guest spot. We quickly noticed how guest parking filled very quickly. After a couple months, we were able to get another parking spot. After about a year or two, they changed almost HALF of the guest spots to electric charging stations which really made guest spots EVEN MORE challenging to find. After about 3 years in the 1bdrm, we moved to a 2 bdrm...BIG MISTAKE. About 1 month in to this 2bedroom apartment, we started to have issues. Since this was a top floor unit, something started leaking causing mold to grow. We had to completely move out of the primary room. It was fixed, but absolutely no compensation from the leasing office whatsoever (meanwhile they were using the electricity that we pay for to "dry" out the affected area). About 4 months later, the same exact thing happened. And once again, had to move completely out of the primary bedroom and no compensation from the management. (DO not rent a top floor unit!) Also, we had a garage included with this apartment and that included a tandem parking spot which was a huge pain. Another thing to note, this place isn't secure. They have gates all around but they don't work. They haven't worked for at least 2 years. All of the pedestrian gates are also all broken. I have physically seen a car with broken windows and a resident filing a police report. Also have heard of residents getting things stolen out of their garage. The apartments are in need of a refresh. The floors are uneven and the windows aren't sealed letting in air from outside, racking up the AC bill. The amenities LACK completely. They have a "movie theater" with uncomfortable furniture. And there isn't much green space to walk your dog (other apartments in the area have fenced in dog spaces). The pool is nice but there isn't enough furniture since it fills up fast. As we moved out, we were hit with lot of extra fees essentially to try to get as much money from us as possible. Although this place is affordable for the area, I wouldn't recommend it.

The cops could not find him that night and so I was forced to stay elsewhere. The next day they arrested him on other chargers, and I was informed he lived in the complex.Because it was an ongoing investigation the cops could not release his name to me, that being said because I had no information I couldnt find out if he was in jail or not. I then decided to call the PROPERTY MANAGER ( Mickey ) to get his name, she told me she did not know who he was. I later found out it was her SON and she lied to me. I decided to go over her head and get in contact with the company who owns PFH ( Private Portfolio Group ). I was directed to a woman named Katie Malone, who did nothing short of downplay the incident and tell me they have "handled it internally", which translates to THEY DID NOTHING. I asked to be released from my lease in fear that he would come back and they denied my request. Since then, I have learned that this man has a lengthy criminal history and allegedly Mickey ( the property manager / mother ) has called 911 on him, he has also allegedly harassed other people on the property and this company continues to ignore it and allow this. They do NOT CARE about your safety and what happens!! She has continuously let him back on the property knowing her job is to PROTECT the residents. I highly suggest not moving onto this property or any of the others. I have gotten a legal team involved, and am lucky to have options unlike so many of there residents. Community manager Matt, Cindy and of course the entire amazing maintence team are wonderful. The…read moremaintence supervisor is so hands on and him and Matt run this place exceptionally well. I have lived here since 2021 and don't think twice when it comes to renewing my lease. Even with every other complex offering specials (because they need to). I work in the industry and can say the entire staff treats this community as if it their own. I've never ever worked or seen a community be kept up as great as they keep it looking daily. Maintence/grounds keepers never skip a beat and work SO hard every day to make this place spotless. In my years living here I've never seen them skip even the small things like scrubbing the fountains daily, the bbq's and even pressure washing curbs routinely. They are constantly doing touch up painting and making this place look impeccable, which is very rare in property management. The office staff is so friendly and I can say I have never had not even ONE issue since living here for many years which is unheard of. Amenities, everything is wonderful and I appreciate you guys so much!

Horrific experience - Avoid at all costs…read more I have never dealt with a more dishonest and incompetent management team. From day one, Halsten Apartments repeatedly tried to slip in bogus charges during my tenancy. Every single time, I challenged them, proved they were wrong, and they quietly backed down without apology. It was a pattern of behavior, not an accident. The manager, Matt Vasquez, is unprofessional and dishonest. He routinely made claims about "lease provisions" that simply did not exist. When I asked him to show me the exact section, he couldn't. He would just insist it was "in there," which it wasn't. His conduct was not only misleading but often outright illegal. He acts like someone who peaked in high school and now abuses a small amount of authority. Health and safety are an absolute nightmare. The ventilation system in my unit was contaminated with mold, and it made me seriously ill. I repeatedly notified management and asked them to address it properly, but they ignored or dismissed my concerns. Breathing in that environment left me extremely sick. Instead of taking accountability or sending qualified remediation, they downplayed it and deflected responsibility. Living here literally made me physically ill. Security is just as bad. I had a dangerous stalker trespassing on the property, and management did absolutely nothing. Instead of helping, they confiscated my Ring camera without permission, a blatant violation of the lease and my privacy rights. When I told them about the trespasser, their response (attached) was basically: "Call the police, we're not putting ourselves in danger." There was zero concern for tenant safety or well-being. To make matters worse, the hot tub has been broken for over a year. Despite countless follow-ups from residents, management never fixed it. Their excuse was that it was "too complicated" to repair, a laughable response given the rent prices here. It's a perfect example of their laziness and total disregard for the amenities they advertise. The only positive thing about this complex was the maintenance team, who were professional and responsive. Everything else was an absolute disaster. I have never had a more horrific rental experience. Between the mold, the dishonesty, the illegal conduct, and the utter disregard for safety, this was by far the worst property I've ever lived in. Do yourself a favor and never live here. Most of their positive Google reviews are fake and/or paid for. They don't reflect the reality of what residents actually experience. Most importantly, don't believe any fabricated response to my review.

And it's difficult because we are OLD! The reason I'm changing my star review is the last few months, they have not done the increases. We have 3 new building on every side offering 1-2 mos free. Now it can go back at any time. I had 3 rent increase, but I had to move apartments once to get back to a lower rate. AND once you move they rent it at what you were paying!! So I posted before that one year here is fine but be aware it will go up $500 every year, Anyway, that is the reason for the 4 stars - because the people here are wonderful. I want good people to move in. If they keep a small amount each year I will stay. If not, then I move to one of the new buildings around us. This is no reflection on the on-site staff. They are at the mercy of Greystar. I will never rent a Greystar again. Hope this helps

Our experience living here has been overwhelmingly negative. The property has ongoing issues with…read morepests--despite weekly deep cleanings, roaches are frequently seen both inside and around the complex at night. There are also visible structural gaps and missing exterior panels that seem to contribute to the problem. Cables are often exposed or embedded directly into sidewalks, reflecting poor maintenance standards. Our apartment also struggled to stay cool. During hotter months, the AC often couldn't keep temperatures below 85°F, even while running non-stop--leading to high electricity bills around $200+. Noise is another constant issue, due to the complex's proximity to two schools and a busy road. Expect frequent disturbances like racing cars, kids screaming, loudspeakers, fireworks, and landscaping crews starting as early as 5 a.m. into the late night. While the exterior landscaping gives a decent first impression, a closer look reveals a lack of detailed upkeep. For the price point ($1,600-$1,700+ for a 1-bedroom), the value just isn't there. In our 10 years in the East Valley, this has been one of the most disappointing places we've lived. There are better-maintained, quieter options in the area that offer more comfort for the same or even lower rent.
