She never did. And now, for an ill-defined reason, she "terminated our relationship." I was never told there was any problem until I received a registered letter stating that she was terminating the relationship. I never received any verbal or written warnings prior to that dismissal that would've given me a chance to correct whatever the problem was. She never even said specifically what the problem was or stated her expectations to me. Gave me 30 days notice for the termination period & said she would refill my scripts. However, she did not hold to her word. On 5 that are critical, she would not refill them, instead, saying that I had enough! (I'm now completely out of one of them & only a week has passed.)! She said she would help me get a scooter/electric power chair if I found someone who would provide that. I did, but when we contacted her to do the mobility exam they required, she wouldn't do that either. We requested these things (the script refills & mobility exam, etc) before the 30 days were up. They decided before the 30 days were up that I was no longer a patient of theirs so they wouldn't do anything for me. They actually stated to me that I was no longer their patient even tho the 30 days had not yet passed. Really a super crappy experience with her. And I'm not sure in retrospect that she ever understood the illness she was treating me for. She said some weird things that weren't in line with someone who actually understood the illness. Worst dr I've ever had & worst experience with a dr. Worst part? I went in to request a copy of my records since I thought they HAD to give you that. They said it would be 6 weeks cuz they no longer do that. They have a 3rd party do that. Not sure how it is legal to put off access to my records like that. I've never had this problem before. Certainly not reasonable or ethical. Worst dr experience ever. SIDENOTE: She's no longer at Meridian & Dr Lorenz was fantastic!

I called yesterday to find out if my appointment could be changed to make my cousins funeral and was informed no - so I had to make a choice scared for what may be wrong with my body - I chose to keep my appointment. I called about 1-2mins before my appointment to find out the location (inside the hospital) and was informed by a staff member that I had to reschedule due to being late. I informed her no one told me to arrive early and how early should I have come 2 -3mins early I received your new patient documents in the mail completely filled them out. She didn't know told me to hold on and then carelessly said 30mins. I asked when could I reschedule in hopes it would be the same day - she then says she has no appointments for next week but can schedule me on 03/08. I had to change my appointment once due to winter storm and feared for what could be wrong with me. The nonchalant and careless tone and attitude was hurtful along with missing my cousins funeral. None of your reminders or portal notifications show any information about arriving 30mins early *and if this is suppose to be a known force of habit for your business make it known - I will find another doctor which your employee cared less about as well as she hung up and refuse to answer anymore of my calls. With all that is going on in the world today I had hoped for a better outcome.

From the first call to the first meeting to the delivery to the after care, I cannot say enough about these ladies and how really amazing they are! I felt they truly cared, and offered the best quality of care for both me and my baby. They listened to me and my wants and needs, and when it came down to it, they did exactly what we had talked about. I received the upmost support to get my BEST birth story. I will forever be grateful for each of them, I will forever remember and tell our birth story to anyone who wants to hear about it and the experience we had. I have already suggested HDMC to many but if you're thinking about a Home/Home Center Birth, contact HDMC, you will not regret it. I have 3 children, two were delivered in a hospital with complications I myself did not cause. My third and final baby was delivered at Heart's Desire. When I was in labor and in pain I remember driving and holding on to the things they not only told me to do to help me through the process but the things they told me to encourage me. As soon as I got there the anxiety flew away because I knew I was in great care, with amazing people who were going to help me through everything. This was my first experience with a midwife and doula and if I could go back in time I would choose this every time. Emily, Molly and LaRae were and are amazing in every aspect. My beautiful son was delivered with no complications and they took care of us like we were family. I felt so secure and safe in knowing that my son and I were in great hands. They truly care for mom and baby. That feeling is something you'll never forget.

We planned for a home birth but my son had other ideas & at 41 weeks 2 days Gretchen saw indicators that this birth wasn't going to happen the way we wanted it to. I went to BSW Dallas & Gretchen coached me through a 9 hr active labor, first no drugs then gas then a dreaded epidural. We were minutes from an emergency c-section & I was useless to make decisions. She coached my husband on what to do & say to help me too. Finally, my son arrived 30 min past midnight after a 7 am admit to the hospital. This woman breathed with me, held my hands my legs all while we tried different birthing positions. Without her beside me I know for a fact my son would have been a c-section delivery & this would have been a worse experience than my first. Gretchen is worth every fee, before during & after delivery. I can't thank her enough for helping deliver my son; my 11 yr wait 'God Gift' safetly. - We didn't qualify for Medicaid but couldn't afford out of pocket insurance. The labor & delivery dept. in our town & 2 others nearby had closed almost a decade previously. So, we sold my car to pay 80% of the global fee & did a payment plan for the remainder. Anything to avoid a hospital bill. Which we did wind up incurring anyway but Gretchen still stayed by my side throughout. This woman is a Godsend.

I gave birth for the first time through Family Birth Services. I was talking to a good friend about…read moremy concerns with hospitals in general and with my delivery expected to be in August, COVID made the idea of giving birth in a hospital even worse. My friend recommended I watch the documentary with Ricky Lake ( The Business of Being Born) to get more insight of what typically happens when giving birth via the hospital route and that lead me to decide to go the natural route like she did with her 4 children. She recommended I go through Family Birth Services like she did and that was the beat choice I could've made. Betty, who works in the office, was so pleasant and instantly gave warmth and comfort when I called to inquire more about how things worked. She was patient and friendly and seemed to care as if she'd already known me. At this point, I was still undecided on whether to go natural or continue with my hospital visits and upon returning to the next hospital check up visit, the feeling of being treated as a "patient" or treated as just another pregnant lady with a check up was overwhelming. My doctor was in (what I thought) was a clean hospital and my delivery was supposed to be at Medical City Hospital. I was looking for a final sign on what direction to go with the delivery and when I took my urine sample at the last doctor's office visit, I was disgusted because I - once again- had to place my urine in the small window next to the urine samples of other pregnant women whose samples had not be removed from the window yet. Needless to say, I left that appointment and asked the check out to send my records to Family Birth Services. My midwifes were Esther and April and they were a gem!! They were just as pleasant as my initial phone call to the birth center and they made me feel like they cared about me and my unborn baby like I did. This proved to be the same during the delivery and post giving birth. They both came with gloves and masks and all the safe materials needed when the day came for my baby girl to arrive. Ester made sure to check in on me and give advice on things to help with issues like painful breastfeeding and etc and April was just as knowledgable about information when I asked her. I'm beyond grateful to have listened to my friend's recommendation because a natural birth proved to be the best route that I could've gone as it relates to the treatment, cost, the lack of wear and tear on my body that would've happened under a hospital's supervision, and my overall birthing experience. I would most definitely recommend any woman looking for proper treatment for herself and her baby to use them!

I initially was very against it since this seems so dangerous and outdated but it was a pleasant experience. I convinced my wife to see a regular doctor at first and it was nothing but mistakes and people pointing fingers at each other in the office. Such a contrast with April and our student Esther. Every question answered and helpful from start to finish. Very organized and informative. I learned a lot in the classes held at the midwives location. Just the amount of support we had alone from the midwives was well worth it. We would definitely go this route again should it come to pass. There's no substitute for a mom delivering comfortably at home and these girls made that possible.
