I happened upon Edenway during my second pregnancy when I attended an ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) meeting there. My first pregnancy ended in a C-section due to breech presentation, and I knew that I wanted to try for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) with my second child. I was 29 weeks pregnant at that point, and I was looking for help and answers. I was introduced to Melody (a midwife at Edenway), and she took the time to talk to me and give me some ideas of things that I could be doing to help myself be successful in my VBAC journey. Her advice was invaluable, and to this day I contribute the success of my birth to the attendance of that meeting at Edenway. As I embarked upon my journey, I began to evaluate all of my options. I realized that the only reason I was choosing to birth in a hospital was because of fear. I felt a connection to the ladies of Edenway, and really the facility itself. After the attendance of my second ICAN meeting, my heart was telling me that I needed to transfer into the care of the women there. It took me some time to think it over, but at 40 weeks (on the dot) I made the switch into the care of Rosetta, one of Edenway's midwives. I felt so confident about my decision. The warmth and kindness that I felt through this birth center is unlike anything I could have ever experienced in a typical OB setting. The care that I received from Rosetta, and the other ladies at Edenway, was the nurturing that I needed to be able to be prepared for my impending natural birth. My due date came and went. And so did two more weeks! Rosetta and I decided that since I was a VBAC patient, the prudent thing to do was transfer into the care of Carla, a CNM at Harris Hospital in Cleburne. Upon that decision, Rosetta came with me to transfer my records, and she stayed with me to do a Biophysical profile of the baby to make sure all was well. She never left my side. It was determined that and induction was my best option at 42 weeks and 2 days. The day of my induction, Rosetta came with me. Even though I had technically transferred care she STILL attended my birth! I had Carla, my CNM, and Rosetta, my CPM guiding me through this process! They worked together to help me bring my baby earthside. The support that I experienced through my labor was unprecedented. Even though I was technically in the hospital, Rosetta brought the comfort, and spirit of the birthing center into my hospital room. I VBAC'ed my little boy into this world with the combined help of Edenway Birth Center and Harris Hospital of Cleburne. I was encouraged. I was supported. I was loved. It was that concerted effort that made my beautiful birth possible. It is with my highest recommendation that I suggest to any mother seeking a natural, beautiful, peaceful birth to give Edenway a chance to help you with that. I truly feel like God put Edenway, and the beautiful women that comprise it, in my path. And I will be forever grateful for it. They taught me to believe in my body and its ability to birth. First off I must start with saying that I wrote to pages of a review and this is the short version as I didn't think anyone would want to read 2 pages worth. Edenway was and is the best thing that ever happened to us. I first started with a doctor but as I went to appointments I felt so confused and lost. My doctor would always ask if I had questions but I couldn't think of any and so our appointments were a total of 10 to 15mins. The last straw for me was when I said I wanted a natural birth and she said "we will see". That right there told me she wasn't the provider I needed or wanted. I need someone to push me, I was a little over weight and gaining lots of weight during pregnancy is in my DNA. I also wanted someone to teach me, help me and empower me to have a natural birth. Within the week Cody called me and said he passed a place called Edenway on his way to work and that we should try it out. We set up an interview with Terry and low and behold 2 hours later were still there! Not because it took forever or cause there was tons of paperwork but because we connected to her. She answered questions we didn't even know we had and we were overwhelmed with information (in a good way). Right away she was the one for us and Terry was everything I needed. She pushed me to stay strict on my food, drink my water, encouraged me and taught me that I could have my baby and was designed to have my baby. If God put so much thought into how He creates you in your mother's womb do you really think He didn't think about how big you should be when you come out? Terry is a part of the family now. And even though our son is 9mos old we still see her every chance we get. I always looked forward to the appointments and just love the feeling of family at Edenway. I know that Terry will be with us and every one of our children births. Edenway made a huge difference in my family and not only how we see birth but how that of our extended family sees birth. Axle's birth was amazing, the team was amazing and the way Cody was prepped and ready (by both Terry and Birth Boot Camp) was amazing. I labored for 16hours, with 2hrs of pushing and birthed at the birth center. One of my favorite moments of birth was right when I thought "God I could really use your help right now" and at that moment Terry started praying. It was all I needed. And yes, I asked if we could do it again not even an hour after. read more

I cannot say enough about the staff, students, midwives and owner of Edenway birth center. I found them in the phone book, but I know it had to have been God that led us to them. I had always wanted to go with midwives and after the birth of my son, knowing that I could live without an epidural,and in fact loved having a natural birth, I called Edenway Birth Center when I was pregnant again. I lived in Grapevine (45 minutes away from the birth center) and chose them mainly because they were less expensive than a nearby birth center. Money had been tight, and I had interviewed midwives, so I walked into Edenway when I was 5 months pregnant. The birth center is cozy with calming decor. Everyone was very polite and helpful. My midwife was Joni Gingles. She was a student at the time and she was very professional, informative and personable. At Edenway you are empowered to know that as a woman God designed your body to deliver babies naturally (even if you've had a C-section in the past). These women were generous, sacrificial, loving, caring and engaged. They are extremely knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with their incredible level of experience and expertise. Finally, these women are courageous because I was expecting twin girls and there can be complications with multiples. A lot of times O.B.s want to cut open a woman with multiples, and having a c-section was one of my greatest fears. I was informed about all the possible risks and complications of a twin pregnancy and birth, and they actually made me keep track of how much protein I consumed everyday. They always made sure I was getting enough protein and water. When the girls were born, the midwives moved with lightening quick speed and gentle care. My girls are healthy and the only doctor that they see regularly is a chiropractor to keep everything in alignment and to keep their immune system strong. I delivered them at the birth center, but because I was so far away we had a plan to have a home birth if it was needed. We currently live in Idaho. My husband and I feel we are done having children, but if I ever got pregnant again, and I lived in the area, I would go to Edenway right away, not wait 5 months. read more

I absolutely LOVED my experience with Edenway! I am from Midlothian and looked for a long time for a birth center near me. I was pleased to find that there was one only 30 minutes away from me! Upon pulling up to the Birth Center, I was immediately welcomed by the most friendly staff. They were able to assist me right away! The office wasn't overly busy and I was especially pleased so see all of the obvious connections they had with their clients. I knew very quickly that I was going to love working with them. I met with each midwife and they were all very open and honest with me and provided answers to ALL of my questions (yes all 2,000 of them!!!). Once I began prenatal care with them I was very satisfied with how organized their office staff was. Only once did they have to cancel one of my appointments (due to a birth) and they were very diligent in their efforts to make sure they got a hold of me in plenty of time so that my day wasn't too interrupted. They were great about accommodating my husbands crazy coaching schedule and my FAVORITE part about appointments at the birth center is the fact that they always included my husband and even my younger children in the appointments. They encouraged my daughters to listen to the baby's heart beat and more importantly they displayed a super sweet patience for their many questions about babies. I have since had 2 births with Edenway. My first birth was at the birth center and my 2nd birth was at home. I'm pregnant again and intending on having a home birth. Although I admit every time I go to the birth center for a prenatal appointment, I am extremely temped to change the plan and have another birth center birth. The HUGE tub makes a the whole idea seem so inviting! I have always been treated with the most special of care when working with the midwives at Edenway and I can't imagine using any other facility!!! read more

There is simply not enough wonderful things I can say about Edenway! When I became pregnant with my first child I had originally planned to have a hospital birth. Upon learning about what a hospital birth would entail, I decided I wanted a more intimate setting to give birth in. My sister, who was also pregnant at the same time and two months further along than I, had found Edenway. She told me about all the wonderful ladies who worked there and how thorough and relaxing her appointment was. I decided to go and have an interview and see if this could possibly be the place for me. From the moment I first arrived, I was greeted by smiling faces and people who genuinely wanted to get to know me. After a lengthy interview I was convinced Edenway would be a wonderful place to give birth. My appointments were always an hour long or more and very relaxing. I truly came to have a wonderful relationship with my midwife, Terry. I had a very informative birth class that helped get my husband and I ready, plus the midwives took the time to answer all my questions. IThe Edenway birth center is housed in a lovely old home that is beautifully decorated and makes you feel very welcome. When the time came for me to give birth it was in a beautiful bedroom painted with soft Lilac walls, a very plush bed, and surrounded by my family and supported by people who I knew would listen to my wants and needs. My daughter was born naturally with no drugs and no complications! Afterwards I got to have a soothing herbal bath with my baby, it was a tremendously relaxing experience. I had such a wonderful labor and delivery and such a beautiful experience with the talented women who work there, that for my next child I hope to have the baby at home under their wise and gentle care. My husband and I visited Edenway and met with Terry Gyde before we had even conceived. From the homey atmosphere of the birth center to the welcome we received when we walked in the door, we knew right away this was where we were meant to have our first child. In that first meeting, Terry promised to pray for us as we began this journey, and that meant more to us than she'll ever know. When we returned to Edenway the very next month, we immediately felt like we had been welcomed into a family. Everyone was so excited and ready to help us have the best possible pregnancy. We were given so much information and answers to questions we didn't even know to ask, and we felt 100% supported and informed. We also had complete control. Suggestions were made regarding nutrition, supplements, and pre-natal testing, but at no point were we pressured to do anything. In fact, we were encouraged to do our own research and reach our own conclusions. I had an ovarian cyst that needed to be monitored throughout the pregnancy, and Terry was with me at each ultrasound appointment with an outside provider to help me understand what was going on and also just be a comforting and peaceful presence. When it came time for Benjamin to be born, I knew I was ready. I had an entire team backing me up and praying for us. Labor seemed to take forever, but the team never wavered. They were with me every step of the way with words of encouragement and love and guidance in what was going to happen next. We could not have been happier with our experience at Edenway! We hadn't originally planned on a natural birth, but after a miscarriage left us with more questions than answers from our OB, we began looking at other birth options. From our very first meeting, the office staff and midwives at Edenway took a deep, personal interest in us. The prenatal care was unbelievable. In contrast to the fifteen minutes or less typically spent with an OB, our prenatal appointments could last up to two hours, depending on the number of questions and concerns we had. Our wonderful midwife Mary Gockenbach was available throughout our pregnancy via phone, text, and email for anything that might arise between appointments. In addition to the routine prenatal checkups, Mary helped us focus on nutrition, exercise, the emotional and physical aspects of pregnancy, and natural remedies for issues. Early on in our pregnancy, I was briefly hospitalized, and Mary stayed with us for hours. When it came time for the birth of our son, we had confidence because Mary and the other midwives at Edenway had prepared us to own our experience. We set the terms, including the location, support people present, birth positions, and how involved my husband planned to be. Because of their expertise, support, and encouragement we had a birth experience that was perfect in our eyes. We highly recommend Edenway and their midwives and will look to them again for our future births. read more

My husband and I first found Edenway Birth Center three years and 9 months ago when we found out I was pregnant with my first child. So when we found out we were pregnant with our second child we knew that we would go back to Edenway. The atmosphere at the birth center is very inviting and warming. We chose Terry Gyde to be our midwife. She was at our first birth but she was not our primary midwife at the time. Terry is a warm, loving individual. She was awesome throughout my pregnancy, birth and post-partum. Terry made sure that I was healthy during my pregnancy, which is a challenge because I have several health issues. If there was something I needed that she could not provide, she connected me with the right resources. Edenway also has an excellent staff. The ladies that run the office are kind and caring. They have Dr. Kristen Hosaka, the chiropractor, come once a week to adjust mom's during their pregnancy. Dr. Kristen also adjusts the newborns on their visits after the birth. Edenway can also help moms get in touch with the birth classes and other resources to help prepare for the birth as well. We took a Birth Boot Camp class with Melody Morrow. Melody was excellent in getting me and my husband prepared to have an out of hospital birth. Over all, we love Edenway. Both of our birth experiences were great because of the people involved with Edenway Birth Center. read more

After interviewing the midwives at Edenway, my husband and I knew we'd found the perfect midwives to deliver our baby. The ladies were warm, very knowledgeable, and above all, included me in all health decisions. With my first baby I was appropriately transferred to the hospital and they were with me every step of the way. With my second birth they worked closely with other health professionals and when the time came I had a beautiful home birth surrounded by my midwives, my chiropractor, husband and mom. So having ultimately had one hospital birth and one home birth, I can attest that the midwives kept closer watch and provided better care to me than the doctors at the hospital did. I could (and did) call my midwives at anytime during my pregnancy if I had questions or concerns and they were always very responsive. They respected my and my husband's choices at all points during the pregnancies and deliveries. The entire staff was always helpful and courteous. I found Edenway through their website when I moved to Cleburne. My husband and I didn't know much about birth centers or midwives, but we went to interview there and felt so much more comfortable than at a doctor's office. I knew I wanted to try for a natural birth and loved how personable and encouraging the midwives and apprentices were. The appointments felt like a visitwith friends and I was so excited for my birth. Everything went smoothly and we had a fantastic experience to birth our first baby at the birth center. The staff at Edenway was wonderful and professional. They also offer chiropractics and massage at their facility, specializing in moms and babies, and it was so convenient to get those services while I was there for my prenatals. The midwives also recommended a birth preparation class held at the birth center that my husband and I took. I had a great experience with Edenway! With my second child I received all of my prenatal care from the wonderful midwives at Edenway and delivered her at the birth center. My care was very personal and the midwives genuinely showed care for me and my family. They became personally involved with us as a couple and really listened to our desires and concerns regarding our birth. I always felt well informed and supported. The birth was peaceful and exactly the experience I wanted. The midwives encouraged my husband as he supported me. I especially valued the bonding time with my baby girl immediately after birth. The birth center itself is also a lovely place to go for prenatal visits - - very kid friendly to older siblings, and it was such a lovely, relaxing place for labor, delivery, and recovery. I live in Glen Rose and had a home birth. Just gave birth for the second time through Edenway and would never choose any other hospital or birthing center! Learned about Edenway years ago at a homeschool book fair. I chose Edenway because I wanted a home birth, and care that is professional, preventative, proactive and compassionate. I had a wonderful experience at Edenway. I was pregnant with my 3rd child and after two previous home births I was looking forward to a birth center birth (in their very large beautiful bathtub!!!) My midwife Melody was so caring and took her time understanding how my body was working and help diagnose an issue I was having. I didn't end up getting to deliver at the birth center because of this issue but the love and care up to that point and even during my delivery at the hospital was amazing! I transitioned my care to Edenway Birth Center at 34 weeks after concerns that I may not get the choices in care that I wanted with my OBGYN. Walking into the birth center I immediately felt at peace. Being a healthcare provider and working in some intense situations with laboring mothers and new infants I had many fears and concerns. These women worked with me to address all concerns, offered me resources, and provided me the best care I could imagine receiving. I found Edenway two and a half years ago. I had had two cesareans and only knew the medical model of care. God led me to these ladies who when I was not yet even a client prayed with me, cared for me and helped me find facts and information to help me on my journey. They gave me total care emotional, physical, nutrition and spiritual. I made lifelong friends and found a community of like minded families. I took my birth class with one of the midwives at Edenway. I've also attended Birth Circle and every staff member, midwife or otherwise, has gone out of their way to.make me feel welcome and at home. I was pregnant with twins and driving from Stephenville for the class and would do it again in a heartbeat.
