Definitely not what it used to be! My last visit the other day was very disappointing. Food was bellow any standards, staff unprofessional, not helpful and simply uncaring. Very loud music was being played on loud speakers which took over the whole calm garden experience and that music should be played at discos not family garden centre! read more

I never saw myself as the gardening type, but a friend gave me a sunflower kit as a birthday present and I've 'turned'. I went to Eden Gardens with my sister this past Sunday to add some orchids and easy-to-grow garden flowers to my noob collection. We had lunch first at the restaurant there and I was startled to see lizards (Eastern water dragons, native to the area) just wandering around amongst the tables. The staff said they were like pets, and I wondered how many times they'd been stepped on. There's something surprising about coming across a live animal where you don't expect it, but I was warned about the cat in the homeware store section in advance. The restaurant is outdoor whilst the homeware store looks more like a gift shop when you enter, except more sprawling. There's some cool animal-themed statues for people's homes and backyards, as well as small plants that are office-appropriate. (That's what my sister was in the market for.) It was a pretty hot and sunny day when we visited, so wandering around the outdoor section didn't last too long. There's no air conditioning for those thinking of an escape to the homeware/gift store. As to the food I had at the restaurant, it was fine. I was a little under-whelmed by the gristly and fatty steak strip on my steak sandwich, though the Turkish bread was good and the sandwich extras (caramelized onion, smokey BBQ, cheese, lettuce and tomato) were delicious. The beer-battered chips that came with the sandwich were pretty flavourless and slightly overcooked for my liking. On the other hand, my sister's warm pumpkin salad was impressive and delicious, including pears, beetroot, walnuts and very soft and tasty fetta) and I noticed a big vegetarian offering here. I imagine the vegetarian food is better as it's a main focus; I also noticed a focus on gluten- and dairy-free treats, e.g. apple and rhubarb cake. All in all, it was a fun experience. The surroundings are beautiful, especially in and around the outdoor restaurant and outdoor garden section. I'd advise anyone with even a passing interest in gardens to visit, but select a day that's not too hot... and try not to step on the animals. read more

Eden Gardens is tucked away off the busy Gympie Road near Carseldine and is an absolutely gorgeous garden centre for all budding horticulturalists. They have a stack of native Australian fauna to choose from - herbs, fruit trees and vegetable plants, flowering shrubbery, bedding plants... There's a huge selection on offer. They also have garden furniture, decorations, statues, garden tools and supplies, and lots of really cute tools and gloves for kids. There's also a varied gift selection of candles, oils, paintings, cushions and other goodies - I especially loved their Christmas decoration range. Great parking and they even have a little coffee shop, which is open from 8.30am to 4pm every day, with a yummy menu so you can stop off and have a bite to eat before continuing to look around the grounds. They have classes and education on offer too, for adults and children - all information is available at the centre or on their website. Well worth a look. read more

We finally made it here in time for breakfast (last orders 10:45) and we definitely weren't disappointed. We both ordered the Big Breakfast ($23) and added avocado (because breakfast isn't breakfast without avo in my world). The Big Breakfast certainly lived up to its name and I was beaten.. Two slices of crusty sourdough, two hash browns, three cheese kranskys, grilled mushrooms, a huge pile of bacon, two perfect poachies and tomato chutney - plus half an avocado! With an Entertainment Book voucher we got one breakfast for free which was a saving of $27. Needless to say I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious breakfast in great surrounds. We will be back for breakfast again and also to try out the milkshakes and yummy cakes that are on display. Eden Kitchen also do take away Ploughman's Picnic packs for $69 which sound amazing. Cheese, biscuits, quiche, sourdough, olives, dip, smoked salmon, chicken breast, wine, dessert, spring water, plus the cooler carry bag, plates, cutlery etc to keep. read more

I LOVE this garden centre. I am not the most successful gardener but every plant or seedling that i have bought from here has thrived. I believe that is because Eden gave the plants the best start. They have a wide variety of plants from veggies and herbs to fruit trees, bonsai trees, and a lot lot more. The plants may seem expensive when compared to other places but they are great quality which i haven't found elsewhere. You can buy pots, compost, etc all here although i find the pots to be on the pricey side. There is also a homewares section in side with beautiful tables and chairs, cushions, throw rugs, wall art. It has a lovely atmosphere inside. At the back of the indoor area you can go through to a restaurant. At the weekend this restaurant is full and it is recommended to book in advance. I have had a casual lunch with a friend here and it was relaxed with happy helpful staff and the food was of a good quality and reasonable price. I have taken both my parents and in laws to this garden centre and both have been amazed at the quality. My in laws are from Sydney and my mother in law wished she could transport some of the items back home. They also have gift vouchers so an ideal present for keen gardeners. Parking is free. And at the front of the building there are ideas for features for your own garden. There is a landscaping expert who you can book for landscaping your own garden of eden. My only complaint about this garden centre is that you are forced to turn left on Gympie Rd and there are no lights to let you across to turn right towards Bald Hills. I usually go down and turn in Graham Road. It's not a major inconvenience but if i had to pick one thing it would be that. Not the garden centres fault it's just the joys of large city roads. read more

Met up with a couple of former work colleagues here on the weekend. I was surprised that they chose a garden centre for the reunion though. Imagine my surprise when I went in and found a restaurant in there. The food was definitely better than I expected. Very well prepared and generous servings. On Sundays they do a buffet breakfast which I am definitely going to try out. I will definitely come here again! read more

Mediocre food and poor service. We went here to enjoy a Saturday lunch and I must say that neither the service nor the food will make us come back. Ordered the 3 nice sounding salads and some sides - took 45 min to arrive. Food was bland and nothing special. Overall pricey and would not recommend. read more
