Of course that is solely on me and my delusions that all of Ireland serves delicious fresh baked hearty loaves of bread. The strawberry jam and orange marmalade was delicious. I loved my latte and my son-in-law really enjoyed his oats and honey. However his mother intensely disliked her slice of apple pie. In fairness our pies appeared to be much sweeter with a flakier crust. The service was outstanding in both the cafe and the store. The store had a section with Halloween merchandise and another extremely large section for Christmas merchandise. I poked around the Christmas section and found the perfect Santa for my collection. This Santa will be somewhere around number 630 and was chosen because I wanted another Santa that uses incense to smoke a pipe. Customer service was absolutely perfect in the store and I enjoyed shopping here very much.

It's the perfect place for a Sunday relax day which we were doing. We had a little snack in the cafe as well before leaving and they have a nice selection of foods and desserts. I am however completely obsessed with this giant head statue they have and I wanted it so bad but I'm pretty sure it would be too large to ship to the states. Would look perfect in our back yard so if anyone knows where I can find this statue in the U.S. please message me and let me know lol!

We always make an afternoon of a visit over here to include stocking up on the garden bits and a few odds and ends for the house. We have always had excellent advice from the staff a the prices while not the cheapest are reasonable and the quality of the plants is always top drawer. So why the docking of two stars? The restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the food itself is actually very good both in terms of quality and the selection they have available. However, on two occasions now I have been told I can't have a roast beef sandwich because 'they can't do that'. Why not? You have bread, you have beef! 'Yes, well you see we don't do that.' I've asked 3 times and got one once - it was delicious but I take exception to petty jobsworths and so dock the points.

BEECH HILL GARDEN CENTRE Beech Hill Garden centre is a happy…read moreplace, almost always the sound of laughter floating over this award winning centre which is beautifully located on the Middle Glanmire Road, overlooking Cork city and harbour. But you don't go there for the laughs, although laughter is a tonic. Advice is freely given here and they are usually spot-on. Just recently I bought some plants there for a pebbled area and, well advised as usual, came away with some gorgeous colour, hopefully for years to come. It is close to me and I can always pop over for a single plant or container or a ball of garden twine. Maybe I am going just for that laugh! The well stocked centre is run by the COPE Foundation which provides a comprehensive range of services for 1600 children and adults with an intellectual disability.
