It's a gorgeous place and the staff go out of their way to serve you. But I found the mandatory consultation to be more about pushing their services; I had asked for a signature facial ($300), which is billed for all skin types, but was told that I had to do the free consultation to make sure they didn't use any inappropriate products or procedures. Then I was told my skin was " dehydrated" and offered two anti-aging treatments for $550 and $450. I wasn't even given the option of the facial. The aesthetician, when doing extractions, didn't bother to check my chin for clogged pores, and there are multitudes there! I found her answers to my questions, like how long does the post-needling pain last, cagey and evasive, eg. it depends! (When I said "what's the longest it has ever lasted," she said, "it depends!") Her manner was distracted and careless. The massage was one of the clunkiest I've ever gotten. I kept asking the masseuse to slow down but she didn't seem to know how to; she just went lighter but kept up the frantic pace, bumping into me the whole time. Not a relaxing experience. BEST. MASSAGE. OF MY LIFE! I found Eden Day Spa randomly on Google, and was looking to get my back fixed ASAP after a busy thanksgiving weekend with the family. They have nearly 5-star rating from loads of customers - so I gave them a try. Result = Marcita was incredible! I got a 75mins hot stone massage, and she fixed everything! I plan to be a frequent customer of this spa in the future! I've been (several) times to many of the top spa's in the area including International Orange, Cavallo Point to name a few and this massage was just as good (dare I say - better!?!) Also Eden is very reasonably priced - while I love all the water therapies offered at Cavallo Point (it's pretty swanky) and the lux environment of both CP and IO - Eden is a big win on the price point scale. Pretty much HALF the price. Recently accessing the Napa and Sonoma area has been challenging with the cost of services being beyond a reasonable amount for me. Oh wellllll... I'm giving it four stars because some things balance each other out. Came here with a group of friends to celebrate one's 40th birthday. We had booked our treatments a month in advance and I was very much looking forward to it. We are not locals so I was simply going off the reviews on Yelp. First off, YELP's check-in offer was an anti-aging eye treatment. What a treat, actually! I was skeptical but really could see instant results. The tingling paid off. :) We were welcomed very warmly with champagne and sweet treats. That was a nice touch for sure! The lobby area is small but calmly decorated and full of items to help with your skin. I got the sense they are very knowledgeable and proud of what they do and wished I lived closer to work with them on my skin woes. That said, I was here for a BODY POLISH treatment. That's where my experience failed. I'm sorry to say it was neither relaxing nor enjoyable. Not for lack of a kind masseuse mind you. She was very nice. Maybe it can't be helped but the proximity to the lobby was an issue. I simply could not tune out the conversations of those waiting. With it being only a few steps away, perhaps it can't be avoided. The body polish was awkward for me. Her loofa-type gloves mixed with the (nice smelling) pomegrante scrub was what it's supposed to be.... rough. Having to stand up during the "wipe down" or lying on my sides during the scrub, etc. The leftover dried scrub in different areas was uncomfortable. I guess I just really picked wrong. Body polish is to serve a purpose of skin softening. I was looking for relaxing. I accept blame for my choice of services. I wouldn't do it again. The best part was the eye treatment because I could just lie there on the soft table with the warm blankets... that's what I was seeking. My skin might've appreciated the polish but my brain and nerves, not so much. Also, the description reads "followed with a hydrating body milk treatment to enhance the glow" and I'm not sure what that was. I got covered scrub then wiped down and that was all. I'm not sure where the "hydrating body milk treatment" came into play. I was anticipating that as a counter-balance to the scrubbing. You know...scrub first, relax second. But nothing. All in all, the ladies in my group felt pampered and it was a nice way to start our weekend. They honored a Facebook "coupon" and so the price we paid felt like a steal. We were given a little baggie of samples and that is always fun. If I were local, I'd probably give Eden another try. read more

I did not enjoy my facial here. When I have had facials at other spas they discussed my skin care needs and explained each treatment as it is applied. At the end, I was shown products I could purchase. I bought a Hyaluronic Acid by RESULTS. The first time I used it my skin started to flake off. I called the spa to let them know the product was wrong for my skin type(dry & sensitive). I was hoping to return or exchange it but they said no. She knew all of the places on my back that needed attention and helped relieve a lot of tension and pain. Not bad! I've had a couple really nice facials here. I really do feel like my skin looks amazing when I leave. My only problem with them is that the sales pitch is way too aggressive. When you're trying to sell me that hard on something, it makes me doubt that you actually have my skin's best interests at heart. It seems more like you're interested in making an extra $100 or $1000 than you are in winning a repeat customer who truly trusts you. When I worked in the city, I'd go to Dermaplus on Union Street, which is basically on the other side of the spectrum from Eden in almost every way. They are AMAZING, and not once--NOT A SINGLE TIME--did they try to up-sell a treatment to me or pitch some expensive product for me to take home after my appointment. I guess there's a reason why that day spa is now booked up a year in advance and not taking new clients. Eden on the other hand.... The first time I went in, they recommended Vibraderm and some sort of hydration treatment. I said I'd do the Vibraderm, but not the hydration... WELL they did both anyways and then threw a small fit when I said at the end that I wasn't going to be purchasing a package. Very awkward, but my skin did look nice. The next time, I told myself I'd go in just for a basic facial and if they tried to sell me products at the end of my appointment again, I'd never go back. Sure enough, even though I said I'm happy with the plethora of products I use at home, they tried to sell me a couple things yet again as I was checking out. And now you know why I'm never going back! Their intense sale approach just makes me uncomfortable and it feels a little too used car salesman-ish. I don't doubt that some of their products or procedures could be helpful, but if you come on that strong, it's hard to tell the snake oil from the legit stuff. SIDE NOTE: Am I the only one who thinks it's weird that there are so many brief, lacking detail 5-star reviews from people who live in Laguna Niguel, Glendale, Irvine, etc.? I went for a facial yesterday and the owner, Kathy, wanted to do an analysis first to see what type of facial and products would be best suited to my skin. I had a rash and breakouts from a medication I am taking and after some discussion she advised that a facial was not a good idea and could make the situation worse. She suggested I wait for a couple weeks until it settled down. I was very disappointed but last night my rash got much worse. If I had gotten the facial I would have thought it was why it got worse! It also might have gotten much worse than it is. Kathy was so knowledgeable and very kind. I am so grateful that her interest was in what was best for me and nothing to do with increasing her bottom line. My "skin story" is complicated but Katayoon, the founder and master esthetician behind this establishment, got my skin glowing and clear of acne imperfections. She assessed my rosacea and suggested a gentle organic facial to start. Without pushing products, she started me on a simple, medical grade 3-step regimen to improve and rid my skin of advanced adult acne. What I love most about the spa is the calm environment, cutting edge treatments and wide range of expertise among the staff. Every employee has a specialty and they personally work with you to answer questions and select the treatment and products that are best for you. It's a very customized experience, and they are never in a hurry to rush clients. There was a time my son was sick from school and I had to cancel my facial appointment last minute. Any other spa business would have charged me a fee, but Lailee, the manager was so understanding and willing to re-book me for another day. It really was comforting to know that the staff isn't difficult to communicate with, and can relate to everyday obstacles we sometimes face. I booked a facial here over a year ago not expecting much but it was close to my house and I was able to get in day-of. To my surprise I left feeling better than I had after facials costing twice as much money!! Marcia was wonderful. I walked out glowing. My friends remarked on my skin for weeks following. She used oil warmed smooth stones from the Russian River to do the massage with long slow strokes. Also used 'em in place. They carry Skin Ceuticals, G.M. Collins (you must try the Diamond Cream!! -way better than La Mer and not as expensive.) Dr. Babor and another one called Results which I LOVE! This spa is a luxury European spa. Best I have seen in all my travels and trust me, I am a spa junkie!! The treatments are high end and you get the results you pay for. The machines they use are from Germany and I have not seen them in any other spa. I've had a few hydrobrasion treatments and HLM treatments. I went here for a bikini wax and the acne facial with light therapy based on the Yelp reviews and because it's in my hometown. WOW! It was such a great experience (despite the obvious pain from waxing and extractions). Jeannette was my esthetician and she made me feel so comfortable, like I was truly in the hands of a professional. We talked throughout the waxing which made it less awkward, and then didn't talk throughout the facial which made it so relaxing. Now, two weeks later, my facial and waxing have held up better than expected and I think I'll become a regular to Eden Day Spa now. I also bought two of their face products which I've used everyday since: the Results acne spot treatment with salicylic acid and camphor (which has totally made my pimples disappear overnight), and the Results Glycolic Exfoliant Pads (I'm not sure how they work, but they leave my skin so glowy!) read more

I went here for a prenatal couples massage with my wife a few weeks ago on a groupon deal. Things were strange starting with the call I made to book the reservation in which they requested I post a positive review on yelp to qualify for a discount. When I mentioned I hadn't yet received any services the woman I spoke with suggested I make the review based on my experience during the phone conversation. What?? When we arrived for the 'couples' massage they had no maternity table and the female masseuse (which we had requested for my wife) told us she had very little experience with pregnant women. We agreed to have the male masseuse work on my wife as he stated he had considerable experience with pregnant women but his technique left her in pain for days. Additionally, the couples aspect was a joke since we were crammed into a narrow room intended for one table and set head to foot. All these issues were compounded by the fact the masseuses had never met each other and spent most of the time chatting with each other. Our experience with Eden spa was anything but relaxing and not worth the time or money. read more

Look out! Took my Fiancé for her Birthday as a surprise, to get a Facial. When I called I asked about the different prices and all were very high. Being on a budget because I had scheduled many other things for her do to that day I went with the standard Facial for $95. I asked prices and then once that one was said I said "ok let's do that". We went in and they said Happy Birthday to her and seemed very nice. Once it was over, upon leaving the desk clerk said "the total will be 200 please". I was shocked; I did not want to make a huge deal at the time so I simply explained that I was told it would be $95. The clerk said that my Fiancé had upgraded the Facial. I said ok paid and we walked out. After we spoke about it, my Fiancé explained that the woman doing her facial asked her if she wanted this and that. She responded "well what did he pay for". The woman walked out and went to the desk and came back into the room and said "he has not paid yet". This place had my number because they had called me twice before we went in, I told the desk I would walk around until it was done. They could have asked me at anytime as they knew I was paying if I would mind if they doubled the price???!! The situation is almost comical! We even went to another establishment and the Manager there said the same thing happened to her daughter!! I want my 100 bucks back! If you go to Eden pay up front so this will not happen to you.... They may concentrate on the service instead of up selling at that point!
