Arriving at around 3:45 am for the 6:30 am flight, the ticket counter opened at 4:00 am. (I figured I needed to be here two hours early for an international flight, which is logical if I were flying from here to the USA. For a Schengen flight intra-Europe with a checked bag, 90 minutes is plenty.) There was already a pretty long queue for economy passengers but only one other person in the Sky Priority queue. I am a Diamond Medallion with Delta so that gets me Elite Plus with KLM with priority queues and priority boarding. It was nice to see that recognized this morning. The young lady who checked my passport and glanced at my COVID test result was professional, spoke perfect English and provided me my boarding pass for all three flights with a priority fast pass for security. The security gates opened at 4:30 am and I was one of the first to go through with no waiting. KLM has a partner lounge here but it does not open until 6:30 am. At the very far end of a deserted terminal, the flight to Amsterdam boarded on time through a jet bridge. It pushed back on time and later arrived on time. An Airbus 319, there was a meal service in "Europe Business" with coffee in a proper ceramic mug. The meal was carbs, carbs and more carbs (three different breads!) but it was at least a meal and the chocolate croissant was okay (though cold). The seat was clean and comfortable for a 2.5 hour flight. Flight attendants in their blue KLM uniforms were pleasant and refilled my coffee. Trash was picked up and the flight arrived at Amsterdam Schiphol where we deplaned with a jetbridge. Overall, a very pleasant flight. While I would prefer to have been on Delta direct to New York (and that would have meant five more hours of sleep before a later departure), this worked out okay. This is the main station at Zurich and u can get anywhere from this station. There were plenty of signs to navigate thru. They had kiosks throughout the station to purchase tickets and passes, although it can be very confusing the very first time. There were ticket offices and service centers to assist travelers with any travel needs. The station is full of restaurants..... fast food and sit down, cafes and bakeries. You name it!! There were numerous shopping stores, from clothing to electronics to souvenirs to travel stuff etc. If u need help, just ask anybody and they will be more than happy to guide u to the right place.

One thing that really surprised us was having to go through border control and customs on top of the already long security line before we entered certain terminals. It took us over an hour and a half to get through just border control and we hadn't expected that at all. Better signs or clearer communication about the process would have made a big difference. Getting from our plane to our next gate was also confusing. We were connecting on the same airline but after getting off the plane we had to take a tram to get to our next gate which was the SAME airline. The airport wasn't marked very well and we constantly second guessed if we were going in the right direction. On the positive side the food was never a problem here. Options seemed to be everywhere around the airport and there was a wide variety no matter where we were. We also liked that sleeping accommodations were available. They were a bit expensive for what you get but it was nice to have that option after a long trip or a long overnight layover like us. Overall Zurich Airport is clean and modern and offers lots of conveniences but I think they could greatly enhance passenger experience by having clearer signs and a process that is easier to understand.

Despite the curvy roads, we felt safe. The information our guides gave was informative. The -1 star was because they combined the English and Spanish tours into one. Our guides repeated everything they said in 2 languages so it kinda broke the flow of the tour and made it more difficult to have conversations with them.

The stops are well-planned for bio breaks and stretches. The tour was well with the money, not overly expensive in Zurich.

Aside the numerous trains stopping there, there is tram 4 (on the north side) who goes downtown and a few buses 31, 78, 80, 89, 95, N2, N13 (on the south side). They are as well 3 additional bus lines on the north side 304, 307, 308. So in short from Bahnhof Altstetten you can go in all directions quite easily!

There's a board where you can see the schedule and what platform each train is leaving from. There are restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, and chocolate shops at the station. I can't speak on restrooms since I didn't use them but every restroom I've used in Switzerland has been clean. Outside the Hauptbanhof, there are buses, taxis, and trams to connect you if you're staying somewhere away from this station. But there are hotels within walking distance from here. I've taken trains to/ from Zürich Hauptbanhof in the afternoon, early morning and at night and I felt safe regardless of the time of day.
