Such a gem in Davenport, Iowa. We love stopping here when we are passing through 80 east. Food is quick and tasteful. Asian options and unique appetizers. Various items such as katsu, sushi burritos, dumplings, fries, crab rangoons are a few things on the menu. Service is quick and efficient. Waitstaff take your order via tablet. Definitely a go to when in Davenport I'm from Texas but this is a nice gem to find So good and I truly enjoy the sushi here and it's for a great price on top of that. I usually have very good things to say about Eddys Snack Bar. It has unfortunately gone down hill. First thing was the bathroom, with duct tape on the back of the toilet as well as a sign to go along with it. Service was fine however our server was talking to the other workers in a very rude tone calling him rude names and cursing consistently while myself and others could very clearly hear. The cooks also came out of the kitchen a few times to talk to the other workers and were cursing loudly too. I got a boba drink that had black flakes all over the top of it which I assumed was from the tapioca but I'm not sure. The food is as good as it always is but dining in doesn't feel as comfortable as it used to. read more

We loved Eddie's! We stopped in from out of town for a bite around 7 PM and the restaurant was bustling. Even with that being the case, we were quickly seated and tended to. Staff was friendly and the food arrived quickly. We ordered and shared just about everything we could: a pork bao bun, two sushi rolls, soup dumplings, Katsu chicken, and a bowl of Ramen. We came here as a second option and it should've been our first. They've converted a house into a restaurant. I appreciate the wheelchair accessible walk up to the house. We came in around 7:30 and there was seating available. They had so many options and everything was delicious. If you have family in town this is the place to take them. What can I say y'all. For a an amazing True Japanese Ramen, traditionally made Japanese Sushi, and other sides and dishes. The servers are friendly and polite. They are also are also knowledgeable with the traditional Japanese cuisine names of each dish and describe each of them to you so you can make an informed choice Now Eddy's is a good example of a typical Japanese style neighborhood restaurant. Set in the first floor of a family house that was converted into a restaurant. Which is typical of the good off the beaten path and side streets restaurants of the locals and those who are in the know frequently in Japan. These types of restaurants are cramped, noisy, often then not crowded and busy as all get out. But again this is part of the genuine appeal and experience of what Eddy's is bringing. They are sporting a very Dagon Ball "Z" them the moment you walk up the ADA Wheel Chair Accessible Ramp the the front door, where the first thing you see is their neon sign the greets you sports the outline of Guku. The Dragon ball and Japanese influence theme is tasteful done throughout the restaurant. As well as Dragon Ball plays on screen at the back of the room with subtitles. They are accommodating to everyone. The theme is not to over powering and is comfortable enough for anyone to enjoy. If one veiw in the room is not your taste just turn your head or sit on the other side of the table and you have a more traditional experience. They also support a traditional style ramen/sushi counter to eat at. As well they serve alcoholic beverages too. Now be prepared to feast with your eyes and your taste buds. The food is delicious. The servings are traditional, and as well as served appropriately (meaning if served as 3 you get 3.) prices may seem a bit high at first but once you have had the food you will understand that you are getting quality and experience served to you. On top of great service and an excellent experience in culinary dining. Add all those factors together and you're actually getting a greater value than your spending. So, be sure to tip your servers generously, as their knowledge and prompt service hard to come by these days. Note: With the service though. Make sure you ask for what you want and need from them when you have them. Because of the noise factor of the restaurant, regarding their attention is often difficult. Also the elevated noise of the restaurant actually forces your party to come closer to speak together and make it harder for other parties to hear what other parties are saying. This place is amazing! I've been here twice, and it was amazing both times. My daughter wanted me to take her here as a reward for helping me do some office work, she easily picked the best reward she possibly could've! Unique and fun environment, fun items on the menu, and a laid-back staff that makes it a point to make you feel welcome. We had the sushi fries which were an amazing surprise, followed by a variety of rolls and friend bananas for dessert. To start, I was told to come here for their pho, but since I was doing to go I went with their build your own and a Philadelphia roll. For the build your own I like that they have tons of toppings--anything from salmon, tuna, wasabi, crunchies, onions, spinach, and more. You can go crazy with their combinations. I got the spicy tuna with salmon, onions, crunchies, spinach, ginger, spicy mayo, and eel sauce all wrapped in seaweed. I liked the combo of sweet, salty, and savory flavors. It really hit the spot! And they gave you enough for two meals, which was great for traveling. I would come back here for the wraps, but not the sushi. It was uncomfortably warm and just tasted okay. read more

And if you're a weeb, you'll probably love how this place is completely decked out in Dragonball Z decor! We started out with the sushi fries, which were amazing!! Great atmosphere, food/beverages, and service. You walk in and there is anime playing on the tv screens, paintings along the walls of all the old school anime. The service was very friendly and offered great suggestions. The lychee boba had great flavor but the peanut butter boba tasted a little off. I think it was the consistency. Cease & Desist. That's all I can say. I ordered the pork ramen through GrubHub. This is what I got: the cheapest, mushiest, straight from a college dorm noodles available. The broth tasted like they used the seasoning packet from the above mentioned ramen package, except they added too much water and it's thin and lifeless. They included one piece of bok choy and a lonely slice of fish cake flanked by a couple of hunks of carrots, but not even a traditional piece of nori to show the slightest effort toward authenticity. And the pork... well, it's something. The egg was dry, but the flavor was ok. I get that this is Iowa and our choices are pretty limited, but it would be better to NOT sell this to customers who are open to trying something new. It's a terrible representation of what ramen is, in ANY of its variations. And for $20 (via GrubHub), it's also offensive. Eddy's does not have an email address or a feedback button on their website, unfortunately. I hope they see this and reevaluate what they're putting out there. Do it well, or don't do it. read more

This little place is a bit deceptive, a house turned restraunt it had a cute feel to it with anime music playing inside. The inner weeb in me loved it. Having visited from out of town I was told this little place was quite good. I got the crystal shrimp dumplings which were amazing! Better than most dim sum places I've gotten from the Chicago area! Who knew! Wish I had gotten 2 more orders of this instead. As for the pokebowl it was good... not sure if id pay the amount for the portion I got, maybe it was an off day as all the pics I saw the bowl amount were at least double in size. Where as mine just felt severely lacking. Spicy tuna and eel as the protein, I got edamame, cabbage, cucumber and jalapeño, all fresh tasting ingredients. The only complaint on this would be the tempura crumbs on top that I was not a fan off. Loving this addition to Locust Street eats! Inventive and original! I ordered the seafood instant soup, served with crab, large shrimp, and mussels. Also included are bites of carrot, bok choy, and hard-boiled egg (exquisite). It's a huge ramen-style serving. Fast and easy ordering at the door - no dine in. I ordered online and food was ready on-time and piping hot! The location is on the corner of Lillie and Locust. Since it's a snack bar and not a typical restaurant, I'm supposing items are fast to prepare without a lot of personalization. That said, it would be appreciated if there was a veggie broth option, as well as a veggie instant soup (that would just have more of the cabbage and carrots plus another veg). My last suggestion is to include some single-serve packets of soy sauce and sriracha at the order window or in the bag for take out. Eddy's is epic! Located in a remodeled Victorian home near St. Ambrose University, Eddy's is a great place for hungry students and locals alike. Offering delicious new foods and fun Dragon Ball Z style that no one else in the QC possesses! The sushi is very good, with many styles of maki. The ramen is absolutely excellent, sooo tasty and healthy with generous proportions. And the buns are perfectly steamed with a fwua-fwua bread you cannot resist chomping and sweet or savory fillings. I love the bun sampler, which has an incredible combination of pork bun (bao, or maunapua) taro bun (it is purple!) and sweet egg custard. The customer service is good, efficient, polite and friendly, and I appreciate the great kindness of providing a mobility accessible ramp for those who might need it. Every time I have gone there, this restaurant is busy and filled with cool people enjoying a taste of modern anime culture. I feel like Eddy's is one of the best new restaurants of this year! The kids who were working there are not the staff I'm used to. They asked how that can help me, instead of how many are dining or if we were dining in. Several tables were dirty when I was told to sit wherever I'd like to. With no one else there dining at that time, and four young people working, my friend and I sat at a table and three minutes later water was brought to our table. After 7 minutes (I started a timer because I couldn't believe how long it took for us just to get water) we got up and left and went to a restaurant across the street. As we were leaving a staff member said "have a good day" which at that point felt completely sarcastic. I'm sad that I won't be returning. Visiting from out of town I did not expect to find a place like this. The decor is fun and inviting with a Japanese anime theme. The place is cozy and seating may become a concern if they are busy. The food was very good although not authentic Japanese ramen (so don't expect that). I got the katsu pork ramen with "good spicy" rating. I eat a lot of spicy food and this was the perfect level for me. If you do not eat spicy food I would get a lower level or none at all. The Lychee boba was flavorful and more slushee like (so don't expect flavored boba tea). I got the steamed buns to go. So I cannot comment on their taste, but they looked and smelled great. The variety in Asian menu items is excellent and price appropriately. I had the Ramen & sushi as well as sampling several appetizers. ALL DELICIOUS! The atmosphere was fun and unique. But you get inside and you order things like Ramen bowls which I get alot. Or sushi of different kinds. Both of which they take great care and preparation in serving you. They have a pretty good following with the St Ambrose college kids there. Which helps the owner keep up with his good service. The Ramen bowls are very good and pretty filling. As they are filled with big cuts of carrots , a few bok Choi leaves , and a hard boiled egg which I believe had been soaked in tea. The sushi is very good and fresh. We were recommended to try Eddy's by another local business owner when we mentioned we had no idea where to go for lunch (we aren't from the area). He immediately mentioned this little hole in the wall. Admittedly, it doesn't look like much from the outside. It's literally a walk up door with a menu board. My husband and I ordered the rice and nori wrapped sushi burrito to split (spicy salmon and tuna with corn, cucumber, avocado, carrot, and picked ginger with spicy mayo), an order of the pork steamed buns (bao), and an order of the sesame balls. The bao came with two buns and the sesame balls were an order of 6 balls. It was a short wait for our food (15min) and we waited in our car since Eddy's does not have any seating. It was absolutely exceptional. We are both huge fans of sushi and to have it in this burrito form was incredible and easy to eat on the go. I could have eaten the whole thing by myself. The bao was warm and absolutely delicious. I haven't had sesame balls in ages and these were a blast from the past for me. We will absolutely be making Eddy's a stop on our Davenport trips from here on out. A hidden gem for sure! read more

Been searching for interesting and delicious places to eat and Eddys is certainly one. Restaurant is actually inside a house- interior is charming and eclectic and the workers that took care of me were kind and friendly. Chicken Katsu sandwich had good flavor. There was an appropriate amount of crunch from the breadcrumbs and the sauce had a bit of tang and made the sandwich pop. The chicken itself was good but not quite as tender as I would've liked. That being said I would definitely order the sandwich again! The beef wontons were delicious and I've eaten a lot of dumplings my time and these were as good as any I've had before. The sushi fries were pretty tasty. Not a ton of crab but the sauce and other ingredients were good. I wish the fries had been a bit crispier but overall it was different and very tasty. I will be returning to try some of the other items on the menu- Eddys is definitely a place worthy of multiple visits! read more
