For some background, I'd been an armchair/car/shower singer with an occasional choral participation, but extremely shy since childhood. More recently that shyness has been easing and I've been performing as a soloist with my synagogue, and I'm pursuing changing to a cantorial career. I was looking to take my lifetime of raw, hodgepodge singing into a honed skill, to have more control over my sound, to expand my range, and to learn how to sing properly. I'll just start by saying that in the almost-year since I've been working with Juliana, my congregation has noticed and commented on the dramatic improvement. They always send my teacher their highest regards, though they have never met her. Juliana has taught me how to manage my stress levels, how to identify when tension is limiting the freedom of my voice, how to sing in my high register (with which I was never very comfortable before), and how to breathe properly for singing. She's an efficient and colorful teacher, who seems to know exactly how to describe the sometimes very abstract things you need to do to be breathing and singing properly. She has coached me through letting my head hang until my neck tension releases and you can hear the difference in the sound I produce. Whether you take a 1-hour or 30-minute (like me) lesson with Juliana, every minute is worth it. I can't recommend her more highly, it is simply not possible. Juliana has always had this option in her scheduling tool (the one in the link on her page). In fact, she even gives you an option to "pay later with cash" when you book the appointment! So idk what jasmine is talking about. I practice a lot with videos on YouTube but one lesson with Juliana feels like 10 of those videos. She teaches me something new in each lesson to and it makes a big difference over time. I'm going to miss her a lot when she moves overseas. Her approach is very personal and she knows how to provide a safe space to grow. Lastly, Jasmine has 5 yelp reviews posted. And 5/5 reviews are 1 star. She's just a bear with a sore arse.
