We have been members at the "Y" for many years now. Is it fancy, no. Definitely no lifetime fitness vibes here. HOWEVER! It is family friendly. It does have many amenities. We love the outdoor pool in the warmer months. Plus there medium size gym has most if not all gym equipment needs. My younger son loves the basketball courts. In my opinion is it the nicest YMCA I've been to....naw. I am still going to stay it's solid and does the job. Really wish it had an indoor track like another around the area does!

Plenty and a variety of equipment.

YMCA is a great place for children's summer camp. The counselors are engaging and welcoming.

NO ROOM in the weight area. NO ROOM for stretching. The weight room ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO BE BIGGER!! It can become hazardous.

This gym also has a smell of cat litter. Not sure if it's the rubber floors or what, but the bottom floor really stinks. Other than those two, a gym is a gym and I'm there to work out. The owner, Dan Owens, instructs these classes often and will absolutely crush your upper and lower body in the best possible way. He is extremely knowledgeable and dedicated to making sure every person in the room knows what to do and helps with form if necessary and welcomed. Another great perk is access to the locker rooms and saunas. I feel the entire facility is kept clean and organized. I love the big windows everywhere which allow for a ton of natural light to come inside. I also enjoy using the indoor/outdoor green space on the bottom floor which has a garage door that can open and close depending on the weather. Very nice during Spring, Summer and early Fall. I never feel like I have to wait for equipment to free up, and they do offer complimentary towels at the front desk upon check-in. This athletic club is on ClassPass and I typically just purchase gym time using a couple credits or I sign up for the circuit or conditioning classes.

I have taken a variety of classes with Kolleen, Sara, and Matt and every class is scalable regardless of where you might be in your fitness journey. There is help and encouragement when you need it, and the environment makes you want to come back and workout again, and again. In terms of cleanliness, Core 57 is a 10/10. I have yet to see dust on anything. Cleaning spray bottles and towels are provided to every member during the class and cleaning is required after each use of equipment and announced by the trainers. It is a small group setting (personal training is offered and classes have 4 members to 12 members depending on the class), so I feel comfortable working out even during a pandemic. There are also restrooms and 2 showers available in case you might need to get ready post workout. This is not the kind of gym where you walk on the treadmill for an hour and blindly figure out what equipment to use. If you're looking for a big box gym for $29 a month, this is also not the place for you. BUT: If you've been shopping around for a personal training type of workout experience that focuses on you being and feeling better, I would 1,000% recommend you to give it a try!

This is the solution if you're looking to add lean muscle mass, enjoy getting to know other gym members and like the daily involvement of a knowledgeable, fun, and dedicated owner. And for women who are intimidated by lifting and strength training, this is your breakthrough solution because many of the women members are seasoned competitive lifters of all ages. To be clear, you're not going to find a room full of cardio machines or a schedule of yoga classes. Roswell Barbell is focused on building strength and has all the equipment you need to accomplish this goal. Despite its small size, there's plenty of equipment to use. I've been going for six months, starting as a white collar novice lifter who had never used a barbell in his life and didn't understand how chalk was used. The team here has supported my training, taught me the skills, and made it fun, healthy, and respectful. Now, I spend 3-4 days a week lifting heavy things, challenging my body to get stronger, and learning from some of the best athletes. I leave chalky and exhausted, and motivated to come back again. Strength training is one component of health and gyms like Roswell Barbell are exactly what people need, not the terrible big box gyms full of corporate salespeople and terribly unhealthy messaging.
