I was a little wary of even starting because I'm pretty sure the pain I am having is very similar to the times I had before my other surgeries. I had my first appointment which started right on time and I began exercises after giving a brief history of my knee problems. One week later, and I'm seeing so much improvement. I'm able to walk for longer periods of time without feeling the oh so familiar pain. Does this mean I don't need surgery again? I'm not sure until I see the doctor, but I do know that all the muscles in my leg and butt are much stronger and stable to support my knee. Physio Central is equipped with update workout machines and techniques to provide you with great rehabilitation. The therapists are trained around the world and are very professional and efficient. They work with children and have toys and games in the lobby to keep them occupied while waiting. The focus here is in getting you better so that you can go back to enjoying the actives things you like to do before your surgery. This week after a grueling flight, my neck was severely out of alignment. I decided to try this team after searching the internet. I wanted to make sure I was able to communicate my pain issues. Within 10 mins of speaking with the Dr. he knew what my issue was, he explained how he was going to correct/adjust and then he went to it. It was immediate relief and he was able to address my back and front ribs which were giving me shoulder rotation pain. I had a chiropractor in California who was able to do this but he moved to Hawaii, so I was thankful this Dr. was able to relieve not only my neck and upper back pain but also the rib adjustments were a pleasant surprise and reiief. I will definitely come back when I'm in HK next year again.

The central clinic is located in an old-school office building so the entrance is pretty normal looking, but I've been to one of their other locations that has a giant 10-ft, 3D spine as part of the entrance decor. That is pretty darn cool I must say. Doctor Andy has treated my neck and jaw and he is awesome- very friendly and chatty that it makes any neck adjustment less daunting. He is very meticulous in his work and offers wisdoms on how to avoid injuries again. Unlike other chiropractors, he manages his time well and very rarely do I have to wait even when the schedule is packed. Bottomline: Dr Andy and the traction machine (which sounds like the title of a Nancy Drew mystery)

The common thought is totally and utterly wrong. Isofit, conveniently located in Central on Wyndham street, is the leading Pilates exercise studio in Hong Kong. Stepping through their entrance is like stepping through a portal. Where the old realm is hot, humid, and dirty the new one is cool, refreshing, and clean. A small snack corner (only healthy foods) sit on a counter to the left, an area I hover above while waiting for my appointment. Hon, the charismatic receptionist/money collector let's me know that the instructor is ready for me. The first time I was persuaded to take a session I thought, yea sure, I'd rather work on real muscles, like my guns and bench press, but fine I'll do it. My instructor was a petite, peaceful looking woman named Mingni (if she's still around then ask for her!) and her immediate response at seeing me and my horrid posture was a shake of the head and "You should do more then bench press when you're at the gym." I wanted to show her my biceps but I knew it wouldn't make a difference. An hour later, after being forced to lift weights that questioned my manliness, I had aches and pains in muscles I never knew existed. Mingni rambled off a list of exercises to do at home, I nodded thinking, not happening, the gym is way easier! A week later I was back, I paid for a ten-session package after all. A month after that people began to notice the improvement in my posture, I was able to touch my toes and my lower back didn't trouble me after training. My core was stronger and my lumbar flexibility increased. Considering I didn't know what the word lumbar meant I'd say the improvement was significant. I pop back in every once in a while to rebalance my body after an injury and make sure to ask for homework. And what do you know? I've just read an article about professional rugby teams forcing their players to take Pilates twice a week. The world is changing!
