Pharmacies in Turkey have a number of important qualities that make them better than drug stores in the USA. First, they are just pharmacies, they aren't like Walgreens or CVS selling lots of non-medicine goods staffed by poorly trained and disgruntled workers. Here they are smaller, staffed by a trained pharmacist, they only sell medicine and a limited amount of other healthcare devices and products. Second, they all have the same hours, 0900 to 1900, though this one has shorter hours on Sunday. Second, prices are significantly lower, even for American medicine. Third, they sell some better drugs that aren't available in the USA. Dexofen is more powerful NSAID, more effective than aspirin, Ibuprofen, or Naproxen for many types of lower back pain and discomfort from oral surgery, it works faster at lower doses. Safer than the opiates favored in the USA, and not habit forming. It is much harder to get dangerous drugs here like narcotics or commonly abused drugs in the USA like antibiotics. Clean, bright, conveniently located in Sultanahmet, they understand enough English or French to help out tourists. If they don't understand you, put it in writing -- bring it up on your phone and show them. read more
