The very first day my dad was there, they checked his medical records and ordered every single prescription or supplement he had used in the past several years, even though he wasn't on any of them anymore. We got a bill for $1700 because they didn't bother to ask us if he actually used any of them. We're still fighting the bill for this 6 months later. Also, they can't keep employees very long. We've been dealing with admin people there regarding the bill but there have been at least 3 different people in the position in a very short time, and none of them seem to know what's going on. We keep getting bills for all kinds of different amounts, including $0. When we try to call someone to find out what we actually owe, no one returns the calls. If we show up at the facility, the admin person is not in. The corporate office sent a letter stating we had 5 days to pay an invoice (that now has a late fee of $250) or it will go to a collection agency; however, after speaking with someone in the corporate office, it had already been sent to a collection agency a while ago. The person I spoke to at the corporate office placed the blame 100% on my family, even though we have tried repeatedly and have gone to a lot of trouble to find out what we actually owe and to get rid of amounts we never should have had to pay in the first place. These people have no compassion, common sense or integrity. **Update: I want to add that once, when we visited my dad, we found he had a very deep and wide gash across the top of two of his fingers, which had to have resulted in a lot of bleeding, yet when we asked around to find out what happened to him, nobody knew anything. I'm not sure how anybody paying attention could have missed it. Is this neglect or abuse?

The…read moreexceptional care and attention she received here by the loving care givers, we believe extended her life by many years. The staff became an extended family to my mom and to us. This was the third assisted living place where mom lived, but the only place where when I left her after a visit, I did not have to worry about her constantly and hope the staff was taking good care of her. Brookdale North Oaks has been a loving home for mom for a decade and provided me piece of mind over all those years that has been a invaluable gift to a child of a parent with dementia. I would recommend them to anyone who has a parent in need of exceptional memory care.

They even have a room that out of town guests can rent at a very reasonable price. The reception area, entry area and dining room are all up to date and clean. The dining room provides a weekly overview of the menu plus offers alternative meal options (the soups and desserts are very tasty and included). Residents can choose to receive all meals, no meals or pay as you go. My mom receives all meals and the cost is very reasonable. They offer in house medical services on a schedule; a nurse practitioner, eye care, dental (which I haven't seen elsewhere), podiatry and audiologist. This option is great and reduces outings if not wanted or able. Plus makes my life a bit more balanced. They offer church service weekly (both a Catholic Communion Service and non Catholic service). There is a hair stylist available on site as well. They have a nice movie theater with a new film every week. The gym area has a couple of machines (example there is a NuStep) plus weights etc. They distribute an activity calendar monthly, so residents (and family) can review and plan what to do. Some activities include; Outings for crafts, Aldi's, Walmart and restaurants. Dog therapy, card games and other games, dime bingo, weekly happy hour, performers 1-2x a week. Mom loves it there and considers everyone there a new part of her family. I'm very happy they had an opening when my mom needed to move into assisted living.

The apartment is spacious with high ceilings, a large living room and a full kitchen. There is a washer and dryer in the unit, and a huge roll-in shower. I wish I could find an apartment that nice - ha! They offer 3 meals per day, and the staff encourage the residents to sit with different people for each meal so they can get to know one another. The staff also help facilitate games and activities, such as fruit bingo (the prize for getting a bingo is fruit, duh.) Shortly after my grandma moved in, they had gathered enough players to play 500 once a week. There is even a movie theater downstairs, and a community puzzle on the second floor that everyone works on as they walk past. They offer a non-denominational church service and a shopping outing once a week. My stay was enjoyable, and I'm really happy my grandma has found such a comfortable and caring community. Thanks Bel Rae!

Benedictine 28Apr - 25Jun2025…read more Due to a very negative one week experience in another TCU, I was highly skeptical of everything at Benedictine. I viewed every action as though it might be another act of neglect. It took nearly two weeks to feel safe. Through that time, every Aide, Nurse, Therapist, Cleaning Person, and Administrator made it clear they would watch over me, helping me recover my health. Kindness and empathy were the watchwords they showed me. I learned many of their names and histories. I'd been at Benedictine for about three months. In that time, I'd grown to see them as family. They cared for my wounded body and spirit. I was challenged to improve every day. I am grateful that Benedictine chooses to employ those who look at working with people in need as more than just a job. Over time, some had rough days, and I'd try to help them as much as they did me. I made a few friends there that I'll visit as my health improves. Benedictine TCU is a welcoming and a pay it forward facility. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone in need. Kip N.
