Jeff was a great tour guide and very customer service oriented. He called after I made the booking (to advise of a road closure) and he called the day before (to confirm the weather). We toured with 2 older seniors and he was helpful with getting them in and out of the van. He was quite knowledgeable about the surrounding area and it was clear that this was a life passion. Our family was in Portland for a wedding, and the bride was so thoughtful to set up this tour through the Columbia River Gorge for her guests. Jeff is an excellent guide and picked us up at our hotel. We were able to see Latourell, Multnomah, and Wakheena waterfalls; Bonneville Dam; and various scenic viewpoints. He provided interesting information and stories about the various points of interest, complete with visuals that we passed around in the shuttle. Jeff was referred to us by another company we'd tried to book with but which couldn't accommodate us, and it ended up being a fun and excellent tour overall. Jeff is very knowledgeable about the winemaking industry in the Willamette valley and we enjoyed his stories involving its major players. Two of the three wineries we visited -- Rex Hill and Sokol Blosser-- were superb, as was the lunch stop (Trellis). We didn't care for the third winery (Four Graces). A long overdue review. Better late than never. First time traveling to the Oregon and Washington Area last year and we were scared of the fires up there. Jeff called us before the tour to confirm reservations and to let us know that the fires may alter the tour. We said we were okay. That was very nice of him to call. Jeff is the owner of EcoTours. I read about his tours from TripAdvisor and liked the tours he offered. There were two forest fires at Crater Lake and river Columbia Gorge. The alternative route we took to the old highway was really nice and first time Jeff discovered some local tiny waterfalls. Dog Creek Falls, a 25 feet tall waterfall in Central Gorge, Washington was nice because you could walk up to it and take a photo. The rest of route highlighted the nature and beauty and seeing the fish hatchery location was cool as well as we saw little pockets of fire between the trees in the mountains above. If you are a Steven King's fan then Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood, you should go. My mom was super excited because this location was used for the exterior of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining movie. Jeff Davis is very personable, knowledgeable and friendly and knows a lot about the area. It was a fun, relaxing and easy going exploration of beautified scenery of Oregon and Washington, despite the fires and smoke around us. Next time if we are back in Oregon, I would love to try another tour and you should too! read more

We had an excellent day with Jeff on his Columbia Gorge Waterfalls/Mount Hood loop tour! Jeff is very knowledgeable about the local history and the ecology of the Northwest. We had great stops to see the spectacular scenes of the Columbia River and Gorge. The day was capped off with a trip to the Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood. The price was very reasonable, the van comfortable, the conversation and information perfect, and the timetable was prompt. I only wish we had more time in the area to take a Mt. We were only in Portland for a few days so we needed to make every minute count. JEFF at EcoTours truly made this happen. We did the all day Mt St Helens tour which was the highlight of our visit. We were picked up at our hotel right on time by Jeff in a comfortable van. He is amazingly knowledgeable about every aspect of Mt St Helens and the eruption. We stopped on site for great views and photos. He even brought and set up high power spotting scopes so we could see point of interest that we couldn't get near. Wow, we could not have asked for a more beautiful day and an amazing tour! I was looking for a specific tour that would take us out to the Oregon Coast to see Cannon Beach and then to take in a few Willamette Valley wineries! It was non existent until I contacted Jeff at Eco Tours! He gladly set up a private tour that took us where we wanted to go all in one day! Jeff is very knowledgeable about pretty much the whole state of Oregon so we were in good hands! We stopped at Camp 18 (get a cinnamon roll!) and then headed to the beautiful Ecola State Park before heading into Cannon Beach for lunch. I had been searching for tour companies months before I was planning this trip, I was trying to squeeze as much as I could into our Portland trip. I knew for sure I wanted to see the Columbia River Gorge as well as the coast, most of the tour companies were charging around $225pp for an all day tour. I found Eco Tours on Yelp, and for the same tours, they were only charging $75. I called about two months in advance to book, but was told he cannot confirm the tour until he has at least 5 people, but if by chance he couldn't book a tour he would help me find another company. So I put in for both the Gorge tour and the Coast. I kept calling to check the status, and about a week out I got a confirmation for the Columbia River Gorge, but only a few days from our trip, we were informed he wasn't able to do the Coast tour because of a work issue, which was a bummer. So we are picked up at our hotel, and we pick up the rest of the people joining us and head off to the Gorge. Our first stop is Vista House at Crown Point, we were able to get out and take some photos, use the facilities and what not. We headed off to the waterfalls. We were able to see: Latourell Falls Wahkeena Falls Multnomah Falls We had enough time at each to get photos and walk around. Next we stopped at Bonneville Dam Fish Hatchery. This wasn't really my thing, I could've skipped this and been ok. We were able to see some salmon and learn about the fish latter. Next we taken into Hood River for lunch, the downtown center was small enough we were dropped off and were able to walk to wherever we wanted to eat. After about an hour, we loaded back in and headed to Timberline Lodge. On the way up, we were able to get out and take some really nice shots of Mt. Hood. It was snowing up at Timberline Lodge, and I was freezing my butt off, so we found the bar and had a Bailey's & Coffee while the rest wondered around. The trip back to our Hotel wasn't as long as I anticipated it being. But I did discover I am starting to get a some motion sickness. We were traveling a medium sized passenger van, and there were 13 of us. So every stop, people were climbing over each other and I was stuck in the last row. At the end of the day, I was ready to puke. My friend ended up having to take anti-nausea pill, while me being stubborn and thinking I could just "ride it out" I was almost green. Couple of tips: *If you have any kind of motion sickness at all, get your doctor to write a script for scopolamine and bring some ginger chews to settle your stomach. *Bring an umbrella (he does carry some in the van with him) *Dress in layers *Where shoes you don't care if they get wet *Don't forget to tip read more

My wife and I hired Jeff to take us out to some wineries in the Willamette Valley and it was a fantastic experience! He was waiting for us downstairs at our hotel promptly at the time we agreed upon, the van was great (clean and comfortable), and he provided a ton of great information about the area not only on our hour-ish ride down but also between all of our stops and on our way back. I booked a tour of Mt. St. Helen's with Jeff for 6/3/17 weeks before. On the morning of, Jeff calls to warn that the weather had changed and that most likely we would not be able to see the mountain. He gave us a choice to continue or cancel with no charges. This is honest business practices at it's best. He could have easily not said anything and taken us, and we may have been bummed, but he didn't. This was a $500 loss to him but it's things like this that'll keep him successful. My family and I took the all-day Mt. Hood tour with Jeff, and enjoyed it so much that we took the coast tour, including a stop in Cannon Beach for lunch, the next day. Jeff is extremely knowledgeable about the history and knows all the right places for the best views, hikes and food. He went above and beyond to make sure we saw all that we could, and explored some beautiful scenic roads that had been closed the week before because of Covid-19 restrictions and were even still marked as closed on the state website. We visited many gorgeous waterfalls on the Mt. Hood tour, took lovely little hikes along the way, and got right up to the timberline of Mt. Hood as the last stop. For the coasts tour, Jeff took us to breathtaking views over the ocean and we took a couple beautiful, but not strenuous hikes down to the ocean. Jeff is very friendly, personable and knowledgeable. We booked the Oregon coast tour with Jeff. He picked us up from our hotel and we headed out to the coast. Jeff was very knowledgeable and made our tour interesting. He had pictures and diagrams of different things we learned about. We went west out to Cannon Beach where the tour started, where we saw Haystock Rock (where Goonies is filmed). After this we drove south and stopped at many places to check out the amazing views. We covered a lot so I can't remember all of the places we saw unfortunately. Recently we really enjoyed our Eco Tour of Mt Hood and the surrounding areas. We were the first pick up in town and our driver arrived promptly. We then had to navigate downtown Portland to pick up the rest of the tour group and finally got underway. Visiting during a busy time, our tour ran backwards, but it was just fine. We started up at the Inn and a walk up an easy path for a closer look at Mt. Hood and the mountain views. Spectacular area. Our driver was knowledgeable and very helpful. We learned a lot of eco friendly focused information about the area. I could have spend a lot more time at a number of the stops, but overall we packed in a lot of sights in just one full day. Fortunately everyone in our group was prompt to return when we had to move on to the next stop. The waterfalls were stunningly beautiful. If we had more time and I brought a change of clothes I would have splashed around in the water a bit. We enjoyed our lunch stop in town and the recommendations of the driver to find a great place to eat. With so many choices we did not want to waste time deciding, but it worked out perfectly with plenty of time to eat before we moved on. The stop at the dam was only mildly interesting and I could have skipped that along with the stop at the Oregon Trail/Pacific Crest Trail intersect though they both did give our tour more diversity. One of my favorite stops towards the end and a nice grand finale was the visitor's center with a breathtaking view of the valley. Since it was a full bus and a hot day, the only thing that could have made the experience better was more water or cold drinks available. read more

My sister and I traveled from the Midwest to Portland and wanted to experience all Portland has to offer. I stumbled upon EcoTours and after reading the great reviews, booked our Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls/Mount Hood "Loop" Tour. We were picked-up right from our hotel in Portland (great service!) and we were off. Jeff, our tour guide, introduced himself and the other 10 people on the tour did the same. Jeff went right into describing the exciting day we had ahead and our first stop was a gorgeous overlook above the Cascade River. Jeff had tons of great informational guides and materials while he was driving. There were great sound bites and music that went along with the theme of the day. We stopped at several waterfalls, scenic areas and finished up 6k feet high at Mount Hood. When we stopped for lunch, Jeff allowed us to adventure and pick a place in-town and told us all of our options. It was fun to have some time to ourselves to adventure. We had a fantastic time. The excursion was exciting, beautiful, and adventurous and Jeff was knowledgable, and excited to talk about the ecological aspects of the tour. As we made our plans to visit Portland for the first time, we did some research on tours to help us get the most from our visit. We read the great reviews for EcoTours and decided to book a tour of the Columbia River Gorge and the Mount Hood Loop. We chose EcoTours based on reviews here, as well as being recommended by the concierge at our hotel. The price of this tour, at $80, was far and away the best available. Everything about the tour was excellent. Jeff picked us up right in front of our hotel. The van was comfortable and there were about a dozen of us in the group. As we drove, Jeff had handouts which were passed along at the perfect time, to show us photos, maps or charts. All corresponded to his very interesting narration teaching us about everything we were seeing, or not seeing. His love of the area and the environment were apparent and he was always ready for questions which made this a much richer experience than if we had ventured out on our own. We stopped at an overlook of the Columbia River, and Jeff set up a couple of powerful telescopes to allow us to view the sights up close. There were stops at stunning waterfalls, a fish hatchery, and of course Mt. Hood. The group chose various places for lunch in Hood River after Jeff gave us a quick overview of the cute town. The stops on the tour were frequent and always interesting, so it never felt that we were in the van too long. Jeff has a lot of experience and it shows. Without describing every moment of this tour, I can only say that it is the very best way to see these sights and we loved our full day! We were so impressed that we booked his Mt. St. Helens tour for two days later. At $95 each, it was also a wonderful value! This group, just six of us, was smaller, which was nice too. Jeff has an extensive love and knowledge of all things volcano! The highlight of the traveling part, in conjuction with the beautiful scenery, was the incredible audio he played for us from CB radio transmissions that described what was happening during the eruption...live...as it was happening back then. We felt the suspense as the people were discovering just how devastating the impact was becoming. It wasn't just playing the recordings, it was all mixed in with Jeff's descriptions of the different areas we were passing through, history and lots of questions answered. The views at Mt. St. Helens Johnston Ridge Observatory were spectacular. Again, the scopes were set up along the way at a couple of spots and we were able to see wildlife and waterfalls that were not visible to the naked eye as we took in the landscape. On the ride back, we were able to hear more audio with people who were interviewed and shared their experiences of being there. There is no way we would have had the kind of understanding of everything that happened at Mt. St. Helens had we done this trip on our own. So, decide what you want to see and book the tour with EcoTours. Jeff may not take your call immediately, since he is often on the road with the tours. Sometimes he has to wait to confirm until he has enough people who want to take the tour, I think 5 is minimum. But he will get back to you and you will not regret the time spent with him! I've wanted to go back to the Columbia Gorge since I drove to Portland from Florida a year ago, catching only glimpses of these iconic views. I moved to Portland for it's Eco-Consciousness, so I was delighted when a friend invited me to join her for the July 6 tour. When I called to place my order, I could tell that this was no call center, but a real person who knew whereof he spoke and answered questions patiently. To be picked up in front of the apartment was a treat! The tour was SPECTACULAR, and Jeff is knowledgable and passionate about nature, and I learned (as I had hoped, this being ECOTOURS) so much about forests, salmon, and the history of Oregon and the Northwest that I thought I was on an easy-going Smithsonian tour with an NPR announcer. Perfect. Then, there's the spectacular scenery and many stops, where we had enough time to take the uniqueness of each experience. Jeff even brought his own scopes and knew precisely where to place them to see nesting hawks about a mile away - such a delight to see the baby's head appear! I added a picture of the scope to this listing. He was generous with his time, so we got an extra half hour or so as well. We had a great time touring wine country with Jeff. He was very knowledgeable and offered a good overview of Oregon's wine industry. He polled our small group on our preferences and then picked several places that we all enjoyed. In all we did three vineyards and a tasting room as part of the tour, and we went to another tasting room on our own during lunch break in a charming little town. All the people at the wineries knew Jeff, and we were treated well. Most or all of the tasting fees were included in the price of the tour, so my wife and I felt like we got a great deal for an all-day adventure that saved us the trouble and risk of driving to the wineries ourselves. We had our first wine tour this weekend so we really did not know what to expect. Jeff was very knowledgeable about all the vineyards. He asked us all what we wanted out of our tour and he did a great job choosing. My favorite was Bergstrom vineyards. Every single wine was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. If I ever go back I will probably hang out there for a couple of hours. As the tour ended we informed Jeff that we had to change hotels so he very kindly drove us to our previous location, picked up our bags and drove us to our new location. I choose to go on Eco Tours of Oregon for a few reasons. I was only visiting Portland for two days and wanted to see as much as possible. I also didn't have a car, and didn't want to rent one, so seeing the beautiful landscape that I heard so much about wasn't an option. Budget was a huge thing for me during this trip. Eco Tours of Oregon packed so much into each of their tours, picked me up from the front door of my hostel in Porland (for no charge) and was extremely affordable. I choose to go on the Columbia River Gorge Waterfalls/Mount Hood "Loop" Tour and the price of the entire tour was cheaper then renting a car and driving along the same tour myself! Our guide was Jeff and he was extremely knowledgeable and shared really interesting information with us the entire time. I am so, so glad that I did this tour and would recommend it to absolutely anyone. I went with six other friends and we all absolutely loved it. We're in our early twenties, but there were people in our group from all ages and everyone seemed to have a great time. We were able to do SO much, but never felt rushed. I would love to take another trip out to Oregon for a few days and do one of Jeff's tours each day. Really, really wonderful experience. I couldn't rate this high enough. Was in Portland for the Memorial Day weekend for a little relaxation and what better way to relax than with a nice glass of wine. Eco Tours helped us accomplish this goal! We hopped aboard the van guided by the very knowledgable, wine connoisseur Jeff. He mapped out an amazing tour complete with lunch at a great bistro and stops at four fantastic wineries in Dundee Hills including a special barrel tasting. The legs on the wines we tasted were long and luscious! Two different day-long tours. A comfy ride for the 8 of us. Jeff was great answering questions from the adults as well as the kids in our group. Mount Hood loop - awesome route and broad knowledge of the natural history and the settling of the area. Several stops at waterfalls along the Columbia River highway before the Mount Hood drive. A stop at Bonneville Dam, TimberLine and more filled the day nicely. Tillamook area, a few capes and the Tillamook Air Museum on a beautiful day.
