On a recent road trip to Asheville, NC, we reserved a room in Newport, TN for the night. We had scoped out the market and everything near Asheville was $150+. Autumn is a really popular time of year for tourism there. At that point, we had knocked out over 4 hours of driving, we paid half of what we would have paid to stay closer to Asheville, and it only left us with about an hour and a half worth of driving in the morning. In short, it had everything we were looking for in a room that cost us less than $75. The room was simple and clean. The only complaint is that you could feel the cold seep in from outside the closer you were to the door. The wall unit included a fan option that we could leave running all night, and this is appreciated for sensitive sleepers. Breakfast was okay - better than standard actually, as it included eggs, sausage, biscuits, etc. I went with my standard Belgian waffle, but sadly they ran out of syrup, so it wasn't nearly as drenched in sweetness as I would normally prefer.

This is by far the worst ever! Do not recommend this to anyone...not only did it reek of cigarettes , the sheets were dirty and full of burns. Disgusting!!!

King Room, nothing spectacular borderline questioning if I want to stay

Definitely will not stay here again. It was gross, it needs to be updated badly. It was cheap so we got what we paid for. It was on the outskirts of Gatlinburg so we did see any major traffic and there was nothing but a Taco Bell and gas station around.

    The comforter.

Great clean, modern roadside motel. One of the best places I've stayed along many road trips.

Parkway Inn - 2nd day of BED BUG EXPOSURE!

It is posted prominently on the main sign you see from the highway. They also have a hand written sign on the wall in the lobby stating "no breakfast after 9:30am". Truth is, they do not offer breakfast at all, anytime. They do have a laundry facility. Problem is, that every washer and dryer has an "OUT OF ORDER" sign on it. They do have an ice machine. It also has an "OUT OF ORDER" sign on it. When I asked the person at the desk about ice, I was told I could buy ice at the store on the corner. The "non-smoking" room we received smelled like smoke, cigarette burns on the bed spread, burns on the bathroom counter and tub. The room did include an ironing board. But no iron. I called to speak with the manager/owner. My expectation was, we could come to some sort of compromise on the bill. She was quick to provide a verbal apology. Beyond that, all she had was poor excuses as to why all of these issue occurred. And that they where out of her control. She made it very clear, they do not have to follow the same rules for advertising and services that most chains do. She also said there was "nothing she could do". It's always disappointed when the person in charge, uses this phrase. If you are the owner/manager, there is always something you can do. You are choosing not to make it right. I explained she has the ability to make a reasonable adjustment of the charges. She said no. I advised her that all I can do as a consumer, is not return and provide honest feedback online to help others avoid the mistake I made. I see now after reading multiple reviews, they have no interest in providing a quality place to stay, ONLY IN COLLECTING $$ FOR IT.

I can say that they had zip up mattress covers which probably helps prevent bed bugs, but otherwise, all the linens just looked dirty. We had no remote. The desk clerk found one for us, but not all the features worked and she admitted that she had to take it from another room. The blow dryer didn't work The worst part was the noise. There was a large family down the hall that had three room and LOTS of little kids that they just let run up and down the halls yelling. We had to ask the front desk THREE times to ask them to quiet down and they still persisted. Finally at 12:30 am my husband stuck his head out and yelled "It's time to go to sleep!" That finally got the quiet. The clerk said that she was going to tell them that they were going to cause other customers to leave. I reminded her that it was THEY who should be told to leave, not us leaving because of the noise. Definitely would not stay here again. UPDATE: We asked to have the room comped and he wouldn't do it since we had already stayed the night. He said we should have asked to be moved. Blamed us! Wow!
