    Someone else's hair clippings.

Let's begin by saying that I am a young woman who travels alone to different cities for work. Upon checking into by room at the Econo Lodge, I noticed that my room was on the first floor, with an exterior door leading to an alleyway. This is not conducive to a safe environment for any person, let alone a woman in a strange city. I walked into the room and also noticed that the trash can hadn't been emptied. I went back to the front desk to politely ask the woman who was working about their cleaning protocols. She then proceeded to tell me that they wait 24 hours after someone has left the room to begin cleaning, and also shared with me that they "used to NOT change the sheets and bedding every time, but since COVID, they do now." That didn't really put me at ease, and was then concerned that my sheets were dirty as well. I returned to my room and began to use my own disinfectant spray that I had purchased to clean any high touch areas. As I was wiping the bathroom sink, I noticed someone else's hair that hadn't been cleaned up.   I decided to go to dinner and ask for a different room upon my return. When I had asked for a cleaner room, the woman at the front desk told me that the only clean rooms available are upstairs suites that would cost more per night. She did not offer to send anyone to my room to clean it more thoroughly. Thinking that I didn't want to charge my company's card for a more expensive room, I would just finish disinfecting my room myself. I returned to my room, opened the bathroom door and was greeted by a Daddy Long-Leg spider. (Pictures don't do it justice, this thing was bigger than a half-dollar.) This was the straw that broke the camel's back. I took it upon myself to book a different room at the AmericInn, where I stayed two summers ago while working in Valley City. I've already noticed it is a much cleaner space and am not worried about the potential risk of contracting COVID here as they seem to take their cleanliness and sanitization a bit more seriously. At the AmericInn, they also have a plexiglass screen at the front desk while the Econo Lodge did not, nor were the employees wearing masks or any other PPE. When I checked out of the Econo Lodge, I asked them to reimburse the card on file and I'm now waiting for the manager to give me a call in the morning to approve my refund. Let's just say that you get what you pay for, but seriously, spend that extra $20-40 a night at a different hotel because this one doesn't come with a cleaning service in the middle of a pandemic.

Nice sunshine from my room in this chilly morning

Room was not ready at 3 pm so we had a late check in. Continental breakfast was nonexistent and the room had some wild stains on the walls
