My elderly parents have taken both of their cars in for a paint job. They did a good job on one of the cars so they decided to take in their second car and it has been problem after problem. The worst part is that lying they have encountered...every time they call (and they have to keep calling because no one will actually return their call), there is a different issue and none of it has to do with why the car was there in the first place. My mother is now going on almost 2 weeks of not having a car and not being able to get to her appts. I'd like to share my deeply disappointing experience with Econo Auto Painting. A few months ago, after a fender bender, I needed cosmetic work done on the front of my car and decided to take it to Econo because they handle body work. The Manager, Ricky, initially seemed very helpful and accommodating to my budget. I was thankful for the lower quote compared to taking my car to Nissan. However, the day I got my car back, I had to get a jump to leave work. When I called Ricky, he mentioned that he had to jump my car that morning but had failed to inform me until I called. To make matters worse, I immediately realized that my AC was blowing hot air. When I returned my car to Econo to see if they could help, they informed me they were a body shop, not a mechanic. Several places confirmed that whoever did the bodywork had damaged my compressor. Ricky continued to deny that the compressor was located in the front of the car and refused to acknowledge any responsibility for my AC issues. Thankfully, Elite Automotive investigated and discovered that Econo had ripped out my compressor sensor wires. I ended up needing a new compressor and reattached wires, costing me almost $2,000, which Econo refused to cover. Adding insult to injury, the body work they completed was poorly done. The paint is already scratched, and the hood is uneven. While they say you get what you pay for, I didn't expect to pay for damaged compressor sensor wires and shoddy body work. read more

WARNING...BUYERS BEWARE!!! this company has destroyed my vehicle they painted my radiator destroyed my headlights and the paint job they did a kindergartener could have done better. On top of all this when I reached out to the president and vice president listed on sunbiz.org, I received a letter from Connie Boggs with no return address stating that Jody is only the landlord yet on sunbiz.org. She is listed as the vice president and Russell Damron is listed as the president I have sent them both certified letters and that is what I received back. A refusal to admit that they own this company. If someone cannot admit, they own a company do not do business with them! If they have cash, only signs do not do business with them! NEVER,EVER use this place. Don't think you are saving money. You will pay more having it repainted by someone else. Workmanship is shoddy to be charitable. The paint quality is worthless. You could do as good a job in your garage with a spray can. They painted mine, badly and then repainted it badly again. And not let the price fool you. You get what you pay for. Memorial Blvd. Lakeland Florida 33815 863-688 1643 I Brought items to be painted (Side louvers and a hood tach) The tach had finger prints in the paint and I'm still waiting on it to be repainted.They did not follow instructions on how to paint the louvers correctly and ruined a pair of SilverHorse Racing louvers that cost 300.00. I Gave them another set of louvers and one of those louvers had two big runs in the louver. They said they would have to hand buff the runs outs and to come back. I Came back in a week and they said they would have to send them to another shop to buff out the runs. Here it is another week and I have no tach and one louver ! read more

I got a hood, bumper, and fender painted here. It was $129 or $179 or something of that nature. Base and clear on a fireball orange car. They painted it and it had a lot of trash in the paint/clear. I took it back a week later and they wet polished it and took care of it. There was some overspray under the car and it was pretty fish eyed on the lower part of the bumper. Neither of these things were a big deal to fix or even visible. It wasn't perfect but I never looked at the car and was ashamed or anything. Nobody else could ever really tell it was repainted. I had the car for 3 years after that before trading it in. There was a very minor amount of fading but the paint was better quality than the original VW paint was. So, why 4 stars when it wasn't perfect? Well, I paid a small amount of money to have flaking and messed up factory paint fixed and blended in. It lasted 3 years and I imagine it would have lasted for more years given I put decent wax on it. They gave great value for the money and I would bring a car there to have it painted or repaired. I'm writing this review because I am finishing a restoration of sorts on a vehicle that isn't going to be a show car and I just started the body work on it. I was looking them up because I am interested in getting this car painted there. What more can be said that they made me a repeat customer painting a car with bad paint with a color that is hard to match and generally expensive to reproduce for less than $200? read more

I looked around for someone to paint my 2007 Fit, which had faded badly in the Florida sun and found there are basically two levels. The first is the most expensive, and Nu-Age on 92 and Maaco are in this category, with others as well. If you have a newer car and want the best possible job, where they disassemble the body and spray it multiple times, etc., you might want to go to Nu-Age. It takes about a week to get your car back and the quote for my little Fit was $3500 and up, depending on body work, etc. Maaco is less expensive - they just mask everything and you get the car back in a couple of days. Wanted about $2500 for the Fit. I stopped looking for awhile, since I didn't want to spend that much. But then our mechanic, Bud at Car Tech, and the owner of Nu-Age (very informative and friendly) said I might want to try Econo. So I went there and saw a number of newly painted cars and got a quote. $375! Complete! For a moment it seemed impossible. I spoke with two people at the desk - Matt and Mel - both of whom were very informative, friendly and professional. Mike, who is mentioned in some of the other reviews is no longer there - he was fired. Matt quoted me $475 for painting with a coat of clear coat. Guaranteed for two years. And he said it would be done in one day! I brought the car in the same day and the next day I had what looked like a reborn vehicle. They do 40 cars a week and I don't know their techniques, but the car ended up looking perfect. I would highly recommend Econo. read more

I've had Mike paint 10-15 cars for me, never had a crappy one, in fact I quit painting my own cars after 30 years because they are cheaper and at least as good as I do myself,and faster If your car is a daily driver or a reseller you would go here, but the work I get is better than that, I do my own body work They spray it,that formula has worked for me for years You get more than you money's worth there and mike is as fair as a manager should be. Our entire music system was stolen out of car after it was intentionally left unlocked in the lot for days. To quote the manager Mike "we leave the cars unlocked so if someone climbs the fence they wont break your windows" And no cameras at all. Im sure it was just "someone who jumped the fence". I paid for urethane paint, but should have known when the manager Mike said oh we hate to (shoot the urethane paint) because it needs to be done right! So I'm thinking ok well in that case ..I said lets do it... But he'll no crap job for $800 dollars ...and I live 45 min from the shop mind you, so after three try's could not get rid of the fish eye and drip (everywhere!!) horrible job And he said bring it back some other time lol you mean a fourth time sure let me get right on that NOT!! So I'm like wtf!! So he argued and was cursing at me threaten me! And said I just wanted a discount really Mike what about all the flaws and drip, and fish eye which is why you admitted it yea ok bud! So know I'm out money and crapy job won't honor the warranty and wouldn't take it there anyway! After all of this unreal it's the wrost place in town! And stay away from mike one fast talking sells man that will say what you want to hear to get your cash! And rip you off but does not like to be told the truth!! Okay. I read some negative reviews on Econo Auto Painting, but I own an 04 Honda Civic and I did not want to spend a lot of money on it. I just wanted to spruce it up a bit. Econo wanted about $300, while other places wanted between $1200 to $5000 to do the job. I figured that for $300 I was not going to get a $5000 job, so my expectations were fairly low. They had the car three days, which is what they told me they needed. When I got the car back I did not even recognize it. Pretty good job for $300. If you are looking for perfect, this is not the place for you, but if you just want a very good paint job on the cheap, then I highly recommend them. I did not choose the lacquer paint because I was told that the prep has to be perfect and I doubted that these were the folks to do that. If you don't prep for lacquer perfectly, then it's liable to fish eye. So, I went with and recommend that you only get their enamel paint job. They have three different qualities. I chose the second best because it was on sale for the same price as the basic paint job. My expectation was that they would paint right over things like the Honda Civic appliques, but they didn't. The appliques looked great! There was an imperfection in the front bumper where the paint did not look right, but, again, it was a $300 paint job. For the money, it was very well done. Also, I expected to see masking lines around the glass and such, but there was none of that. You MUST paint the car the same color, because they do not paint the door jambs. However, they do a pretty good job of matching the paint to the jambs. It's not perfect, but it's close enough. I also paid $60 to have the headlights restored and the job came out perfect. The headlights look like new and they were really bad when I took the car in. Mike is great to work with and made the whole experience very pleasant. My only criticism is that they won't take a check or credit card. I had to pay cash. That was not a big deal, since it was such a small amount, but I do wish they would join the 21st century. That aside, I was very satisfied with the job. Again, if you have an expensive or new car that needs paint, I suggest you get an expensive paint job. However, if you have an older car that you just want to look good again, this is the place. read more
