This is a bakery that is famous for their piononos, a typical cake originally from Granada that was…read moregiven to Pope Pius IX once and he loved it so much, therefore the name PioNoNo. The little cake is made up of two parts, a thin sheet of rolled cake, forming a cylinder moistened in a syrup made with water and sugar in equal parts, which gives it a pleasant and fresh texture, filled and topped with cream toasted with a blowtorch. We had a couple and it was spongy on the bottom and sweet and crusty on top...a delicious dessert....something very much Granada (even though it really started in the town of Santa Fe, not far from Granada). There are 14 of these Ysla store in the area, from a company that started back in 1897.

They also have some very authentic Italian flavors like Stracciatella (I never even see that in the States). Get the large and get scoops of different stuff. The staff is more than happy to let you sample every flavor.
