My now 19 year old received her black belt at 13. Her sister is now on her quest. We choose Lima's for all of the real life lessons that they learn. My children started training almost 3 years ago and my husband joined shortly after, so I can personally say that the owners and it's affiliation to a larger group of Sullivan's Kenpo USA KARATE schools has made a very positive impression in our lives. I think that there are many traits that society has been losing over the past decades such as respect, self-discipline, effort, character, self-control, etc., so I like the approach that our style of karate offers. There is NO LACK of any of those traits! My family and most of the other families there understand that our children are becoming stronger mentally and physically. Everyone makes an effort to welcome new students & their families into the classes and help them participate with the group. The students are individuals that are part of the Sullivan's USA KARATE organization, but there really is an extended network of people to assist all levels. They offer classes for very young children (age 4-6) which is a great beginning for them that really makes a difference in developing their manners, self-control, focusing their attention, etc., as well as prepares them for following rules. I think that if anyone is thinking about trying karate...this is the place to be the BEST YOU CAN BE. The students of ALL ages take pride in their efforts to WORK HARD and are MOTIVATED by the highly experienced instructors and student coaches...even the other families offer support and encouragement. On a personal note...we have a lot of fun, too, so it's not like it's all work and no play.
