Though I liked Dr. Jung, the front desk (Abe) is useless. I called the day before my scheduled appointment (Monday, June 9th) to see if I could get in earlier in the day. He replied that it was a good thing I called being my appointment had been cancelled. There was a last minute family emergency (totally understandable), that they had tried to call (no such thing according to my recents), and that he would call the week of the 16th to reschedule (hasn't called). I told him I needed the refill on my pup's prescription and he said would look into it. 2 days later I called back saying I was completely out of her meds, that the script is filled there, NOT with my Vet ( which he should have known), and that I'll be coming in to get it. Along the way from that first day until now It've been 2 years already. Even though, I had lost Sushi after 1yr and a half of the treatment. My little old lady 3lb yorkie was tentatively scheduled for surgery. However lab results showed issues with her heart enzyme levels and an echo was recommended. Again, things one is so unfamiliar with but will do anything and everything for their pet, especially during uncertain times. This is my experience from start to finish. Dr. Jung came highly recommended. I know it would be difficult to get her in quickly but I had to try regardless. I called and spoke with the most pleasant and sweetest girl named Jenna. You can only imagine how relieving it is to speak with someone who is able to provide you comfort with just her kindness as you go thru an emotional time trying to get your furbaby the proper care they need. I gave her my situation and she was kind enough to put me on hold to see what could be done given the urgency of my pet's tentative surgery. To my relief, my pet was able to be seen. The building itself is located in what feels like a shopping center for all your pets needs: animal hospitals/specialties/clinics, etc. There is ample parking. Once you arrive for your scheduled appointment, you call to check-in. You may either wait in your car or they have someone meet you in the front to bring you inside the building, where they have coffee and tea available for the nervous pet parents. Once placed in the treatment room, our technician Zachary came in with just the most uplifting energy. He went over the paperwork we had filled out to be sure nothing was missed, he gave us the rundown on what would be done and how long it would take. Whether it was his smile, his pink shirt that matched my pet's pink tutu dress, or how he picked up my furbaby making her feel safe, but my dog went to him without putting a fight. Few minutes later my dog was returned and we waited for Dr. Jung, who came in a few minutes later. Dr. Jung was kind, patient, and personable. What we appreciated the most was the fact that he took the time to go over everything that was discovered on the test. I regret not paying closer attention to the one-star review. Here's my experience: At the beginning of the year, my toy poodle began suffering from strokes. After months of visiting various vets and emergency clinics, we finally discovered the cause and a treatment plan that seemed to help. Our vet prescribed medication, which made a difference, but also referred us to Echo Vet Cardio for a more in-depth assessment of my dog's heart condition. After some time weighing the decision, I scheduled an appointment. During the exam, Dr. Jung gave us a hopeful prognosis, estimating a life expectancy of 2+ years. He noted there was no fluid in my dog's lungs and recommended discontinuing the Furosemide due to elevated levels of a specific marker in her bloodwork. Following his advice, we stopped the medication for water in the lungs, but, continued the second medication for the strokes. Tragically, within a week, my dog's condition worsened. By Friday, 9/20, her respiratory issues became critical. That day, I called Echo Vet Cardio seeking urgent help. Instead of assistance, I was met with indifference. Aram, the staff member on the phone, seemed more interested in ending the call because it was late on a Friday and the doctor was unavailable. He told me to continue tracking my dog's breathing patterns, even though her respiratory rate was alarmingly high, and promised to follow up on Monday. He never did. When I called back the next day, Aram acted like he didn't even know who we were, reading my dog's symptoms off the computer as if hearing them for the first time. It was a heartbreaking and frustrating experience. Ultimately, due to the advice given and the negligence of the staff, we lost our beloved dog shortly after. For anyone who truly cares about their pet, I urge you to explore other options. How many veterinary cardiologists do you know in the LA/OC/IE area? Maybe a handful. How many of them are in private practice? And how many of them would take time out of their schedules to see an emergency walk-in? There's one. That man's name is Dr. Jung of Echo Vet Cardio. Most specialists are affiliated with large animal hospitals and Dr. Jung is no exception. Specialty care is never cheap. However, being able to see him in his own office allows him to provide a more compassionate touch while cutting out the middle man and maintaining competitive prices. The office itself is a shared space with several other veterinary practices. You must check-in outside before entering the building. After doing so, depending on Dr. Jung's workload, he will triage your pet according to how critical they are and then do some preliminary imaging to determine the best course of action. Dr. Jung's staff was friendly and professional. As for Dr. Jung himself, he has a calm demeanor with an excellent bedside manner. 10/10 recommend!!! I found Dr. Jung when he worked as a cardiologist for another veterinarians office in Whittier. My dog Coco who's 12 years old has heart disease due to mitral valve regurgitation. When Dr. Jung worked at the other vets office, I was absolutely devastated when I found out Coco's diagnosis. However, Dr. Jung was incredibly compassionate and patient with us, took his time to explain the diagnosis, how it occurs, how to prevent it from getting worse, answer all of our questions, etc. Since then, Dr. Jung moved to Irvine (takes me over an 1 hr to drive there, but totally worth it!). It's been a couple years now and Coco is still happy and thriving despite his heart disease, and still sees Dr. Jung regularly to keep his heart happy and healthy. Dr, Jung is still the sweetest, caring, compassionate doctor that he was when we first met him. Dr.Jung prescribed my dog (who diagnosed my dog with congestive heart failure & 6 months life-expectancy) completely wrong medication. If I did not notice this discrepancy, it would have been a dangerous situation & life-threatening if I had continued the medication without clue. The appointment felt rushed, and I did not receive quality care that I had hoped for from a vet. I came to my visit with great optimism and trust in Dr.Jung that he will provide the best care for my dog. Dr.Jung explained his condition without displaying any echocardiogram results on screen, which is odd because usually diagnostic images are throughly reviewed for owners to truly understand what's going on & understand the severity of the issue. For each questions asked, his answers were quite short&apathetic. However, I didn't think too much of it as I understand that they may have been busy with the next patients--my meeting w Dr.Jung was less than 10min. My main dissatisfaction and frustration came after the appointment because: 1) Dr.Jung prescribed wrong medication which at first, I decided to let it slide because everyone makes mistakes and at least I caught it in time. 2) Given that Dr.Jung gave my dog a life-expectancy of 6 months, his lack of care for my dog was both heartless, reckless, and neglectful. He did not go over each one of my dog's medication with me in-person, in regards to reevaluation of current meds and where exactly I can obtain them (which is the fundamental purpose of the whole visit), which caused great confusion and delaying of urgent meds. He mentioned the med, Entresto, for delaying of CHF and I explicitly expressed my interest multiple times, where Dr.Jung just responded that I can order them online, but it was not prescribed to me. It was only after I left Echo that the need for this was mentioned to me; the one other med was available for me to simply order through the link provided. I don't understand why they did not provide it to me during my visit which goes on to reflect the lack of organization and attentiveness. This could've easily been avoided if the whole visit was more thorough rather than rushed. This careless treatment is both disrespectful for the owner and sick dog. 3) I was recently informed by a pet community about the incredible MVD surgery that can potentially reverse CHF. As a result, I reached out to Dr.Jung about my interest & a request for referral. The response I received was "there is nothing we can coordinate with them for you on your end." Wow, this is the statement that left me absolutely baffled and was a tipping point for this entire situation. What a cold response! The surgery center required a formal letter or "referral" from vet, and this is how Echo Vet Cardio responded for a dog that needs immediate surgery. Echo completely dismissed the gravity of the situation especially when Dr.Jung strongly emphasized that his condition was "very bad." I understand that all the arranging has to be done on my end, and my only request was a referral letter. I'm uncertain whether I came across as naive or overly accommodating by maintain a polite and respectful demeanor before finally voicing my dissatisfaction. Regardless, taking advantage of my willingness to overlook major issues, is unequivocally wrong and unprofessional. 3) As a forgiving person, I decided to give Echo 3 stars instead of the initial 1 star--despite the terrible and negligent care--because although the care my dog received was far below average (no difference before & after visit aside from negative experiences + high potential risk that my dog would have sustained under Dr.Jung's care if I wasn't so attentive), I was still appreciative of my appointment being arranged earlier and also because the other staff was nice. However, Echo Vet Cardio's continuous lack of responsibility and failure for prompt intervention further confirmed their true nature that stands in stark contrast to their displayed image. I had requested Echocardiogram results as they need to be sent to the surgery centers to start the process of determining candidacy & entering the long waitlist but he still hasn't sent them over and it has been almost 1 week since the appointment. The lack of urgency, willingness, and failure to aggressively, if at all, confront the threats of this deadly disease is extremely concerning. Mind you, Dr.Jung gave him a life-expectancy of SIX MONTHS, and this is how he treats a patient with limited time. There are countless vets out there that go above and beyond to treat your pets like family--that's the definition of a true and worthy veterinarian! I hope that anyone reading this finds a genuine vet that sincerely cares for your pet's precious life, health, and longevity. Remaining here will do far more harm than good so I suggest pet owners experiencing pets with grave conditions to find a cardiologist that will actually treat the condition critically and wholeheartedly like they deserve! read more

If I could give a zero I would, this place killed my baby and gave my family and I false hope. Dr. Jung took him off all medications for 2 days and permanently took him off the medication that was keeping the liquid out of his lungs, and I trusted them because I believed they knew what they were doing. It wasn't until my partner spoke with a his primary doctor at Banfield that we found out the truth, that this quak doctor make a massive mistake in taking him off all his medications especially when he was in a critical state. The doctor lied and told us he had a chance at 2 years with us and but in reality all my family got was 2 days.
