Great place to visit for beginner and intermediate riders. We paid $100 per person. Arrived at 5pm on a Saturday in October. Horseback riding: -Fitted on horse and ride out around 6pm -Rider weight must be less than 225 lbs. -It's better to ride out long before dusk -Horses are sturdy and range all different ages. -The ride duration is 1.5 hours. -The trails are wooded and elevated steeply in certain areas. Hayride: -Tractor drawn carriage with no sides. -Sit crisscross applesauce facing inward to avoid being hit in the face by branches. Western BBQ: -Served hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, soda and water, and s'mores. I was expecting more in the line of meat but it's worth the experience for the price. DJ/Music: -The DJ played a variety of country tunes in the beginning. Once everyone was fed, the music shifted to line dance tunes. My husband, daughter and I came for a ride and had a great time. It is a beautiful area with a trail that leads up and down the hillside thru the forest. Our horses were very well trained and responsive. The check in was easy and our guide, John, kept a good eye on our group, checking to make sure we were all doing well throughout the ride. My husband has been to these stable twice before with his scouts and has had a great experience both times. We plan on going again in the spring, hopefully for the evening ride with the bbq and music. read more

Unprofessional and no dedicate - I have been here numerous times, with that being said it is a nice ride. But my experience today on my birthday was purely ridiculous as i was told to weigh myself in the barn as if I visually look like "atelia the hut" which in no way shape or form am I obese. Then i was abruptly told " you cant ride" and i was dismissed - only when I responded was the a short BS answer. I was told i weighed 3 pounds over the limit and that it was the rules. 1. Ive been here before and that has never happened to me before or my friend of the same statue 2. Website has no set pound restrictions (though i know why this exists - you must understand this isn't my first time) 3. Website also states that no shorts allowed and four of your riders where wearing them so I guess you pick and choose when to apply your "rules" My uncle has a farm and I ride very often - todays horses where very young vs when I went previously ( literally had big horses- even the Budweiser horse) today they where half the size so stating would have been a more tactful way of saying that they weren't able to accommodate due to that, considering I made the trip to come and enjoy my day there. read more

John, our guide, lead the way through a well-maintained, wooded trail with some scenic views. Don't go there. The staff members are discriminating and they call Asian people's children "peanuts". They gave me an off-duty horse and the horse flipped me out half way, and I had to walk half of the trail. The staff went on hiding after knowing the incident. Our Girl Scouts troop had an amazing time at Echo Lake Stables last night. We had 12 girls and 4 adults. We did the sunset ride followed by a BBQ and entertainment, including a DJ. We had a hayride to and from the BBQ area. We enjoyed the ride, food, and dancing. The staff was very friendly and professional. They went out of their way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. TRULY HORRIBLE AND PREJUDICED PEOPLE!!! I have a 28 year old son with autism who learned to ride in Brooklyn with GallopNYC, a terrific not for profit that teaches individuals with disabilities to ride. My son is a competent rider and we have been on many regular trail rides over the years, all successfully completed. I called Echo Lake Stables yesterday and explained my son's condition, as well as his riding ability. The proprietor said that he could accommodate us and we should come over. So we went there this morning and before my son had even mounted the horse, his wife said "I don't think this is going to work". I explained again that my son is a competent rider, knows how to use the reins and has been on many rides prior to today. All to no avail. She just kept saying "it's not going to work". When my son was younger, I used to get this kind of prejudice the whole time but I always persevered and he can now engage in many sporting activities like horseriding, skiing and ice skating. I am truly sick and tired of people not respecting my son and his capabilities. read more

I don't remember the name of my tour guide, he mentioned he was Puerto Rican. However, he was really nice and helpful. I had the hour trail ride through woods and it was so nice. Be prepared for bugs ladies and gentleman! I'm looking forward to coming back to a night trail ride for 90 mins and bbq and music. Ok, let's play Wheel of Fortune....feel free to fill in the letter: BIG HORSES _AKE REALLY BIG SHI_S. I had the fortune of horseback riding on the biggest horse at the ranch (Tux). He was a former carriage horse and absolutely massive - he was more like a SUV amongst horses. He must have shat (yes it's the past tense of shit) or pissed every 15 minutes or so. It was 9 degrees when we started horseback riding. It was my first time horseback riding and I'm not sure what I expected - I just wish it was a bit more scenic (streams, rivers, and vistas) and less head-to-tail. read more

This is a great place for beginners. If you are an advanced rider, you may be bored, unless you go with a group of other advanced riders. The horses are essentially on auto pilot and need little to no actual steering. They will allow you to trot and canter if you know what you're doing. Tip: If you want to do that, show up early in the morning before the horses are tired from a full day of trails. Wow! This place is pretty amazing. We came out for the evening horseback riding and had loads of fun. We were mostly beginners but we hopped on some well tamed horses and rode for 1.5 hours on a guided wooded trail. To top that off it included a hayride that took us to a campfire for burgers, hotdogs and marshmallows. All for 70 bucks a person. I am only giving this 2 stars because the horses were well cared for. My friends and I called ahead to book a ride for 5. We are all experienced riders, have worked at hack stables, owned and shown horses, etc. which we told the staff ahead of time. When we arrived for our ride, there was a family of 4 (3 small children) getting on their horses. We did not think we would be going out with them, but they stuck us together in one big group. Our group ended up wrangling the kids more than the wrangler. It was follow the leader. We even got yelled at for circling our horse. The trail guide did not speak to us at all. Why ask us our skill level if you're not going to give us fun horses and a fun ride? We will not be back. read more

I grew up riding horses and it's been a few years without riding, so I came here with my family for my birthday. I was excited for this experience but was extremely disappointed with the service and our tour girl that didn't even introduce herself. She spoke two words during the hour trail and that was to yell at my brother because he tapped the horse lightly with his feet (for the horse to move). Nice trail and good looking horses but there was no service whatsoever. Do not recommend this place if you appreciate good service. read more

Loved this place! Brought the girlfriend out on a surprise date and it went very well. No reservation needed. I did a lot of research on good places to go horseback riding and this was one of the cheaper ones and it was very nice. $40/hour per person while all the other places were around $65/hour. Horses are well trained, easy to ride for my first time riding. The trail was very nice wooded area while some of the sun's rays were breaking through the trees. Seeing a couple of deer and hearing the birds chirping were comforting signs of nature. The girlfriend had fun riding, and it was a successful surprise. My family & I really enjoy riding here on the weekends. The trails are really nice, quiet & worth at least one experience. The staff are always ready to get you on a horse & on your way. We've never had a wait, although one day we came we weren't allowed to ride because it was too close to closing time. A woman had made a comment along the lines "I told you when you called what time we closed", but the thing is no one from our group had called. Simple misunderstanding. They are very good at pairing you up with an appropriate horse, I'm just not sure why they ask you your riding level on account the trails you stay single file the entire time and at most they will offer a bit of trotting, yet it's very controlled. I would prefer if they offered some more independent riding, they may, it just hasn't been brought to my attention. A few of the people who took us on trail rides knew a lot about horses which made the experience even better. Other times I often wondered why they'd allow someone to take us on the trails who didn't have answers to job related questions, maybe they were new. Overall it's a nice experience, well tempered horses & friendly staff. Derek was one of the better trail guides there you could just tell he had a passion for horses. I don't believe he works there anymore though. He was always willing to help you take pictures and kept the conversation going. I hear the midnight rides are a great time so I will for sure try that out next time. 3 out of 5 stars because I'm not "wow-ed" by the experience, yet it is very pleasant. I came here with a Living Social deal and had a great time! The staff is friendly, grounds are well kept, and the horses look like they get a lot of attention. I'd say I'm an intermediate level rider but anyone above that might be bored. There may be opportunity for private lessons where you could do what you want but as far as the trail goes, you're following the leader at their pace so it's a nice walk in the woods. Horses are in a variety of sizes and levels so there's plenty of options for all riders! Basic riding 101 is reviewed but all in all a good experience :) read more

This place is good for a trailride if you`re a beginner or just want to get on a horse for a nose to butt ride. One and done type of a place. That`s it!! Their horses are very slow and seem tired or old. If you want to have lessons, this is not the place. The owner taking reservations will tell you to make a reservation but when you get up there you have to wait because they have first come first serve policy if a larger group is coming. We had been going up regularly week after week and had no loyalty for being a repeated customer. Each time we went up, we were treated as if this was the first time we were coming up. We ended up going to morisstown where the horses are 100 % better, staff and trainers are professional and nice. read more

The reviews for this place are right on! We tried out the stables right across from our resort and the staff was very rude. This was well worth the extra drive. The place is large (80 horses) and the staff very friendly. You can tell they love animals and horses and have great customer service. My daughter was a party of one and they didn't give us a hard time about a trail ride for 1. The prices are reasonable and they have a lot to offer. I wish we were staying longer on vacation as this place is a keeper. Highly recommended! Thank you for a great time! read more
