I usually stick to what I know when it comes to hairdressers but I was willing to give Urban Hair ago basically on the outside appearance. I was not disappointed. The staff are lovely, really helpful with great ideas for alternative cuts and styles. It is a bit pricey but that's what you expect for a cut in the city and a unique cut at that. However, a word of warning if you like your long locks be sure you don't let the hair stylists get scissor happy as you may be pining by the end of you visit.

As a teenager this was a revelation when all you were used to seeing when you got your hair cut was men who you had a sense felt they had maybe taken the wrong turn in life. Anyway, I digress. This is one of Bangor's best established and well thought of hairdressers with a real reputation for excellent service and quality work. The only problem is that you have to pay for this and this was the reason my sister stopped going here. But when she did she says she never got a bad haircut. Apart from asking what i was wanting done and asking Ok at the end she didnt speak so my time was spent looking at my own reflection in silence for 40 minutes. The cut looked fuller on one side which ive now discovered is due to the layers being longer on one side and a fringe just the right length to poke me in the eyes! Such a disappointment.

I was impressed with the way Charlene dealt with my niece, she felt at ease and was distracted by sweets and lollipops. To my surprise while I was in the waiting room of the salon a gent walked in and got his hair trimmed for £5. Which by modern standards is a bargain. They were able to fit me in, that was 7 years ago and I have never gone anywhere else since. Turns out they do a better job than any hairdresser I had ever been to before. They always seem to do my hair exactly the way I like it, and the colours are always exactly what I'm looking for. The prices are very reasonable and most importantly, the staff are really friendly and actually take the time to listen to exactly what their customers want.

So, at his suggestion, I called these guys and booked in to get myself a new head of hair. Can we leave all controversial debates about whether hair extensions are morally correct aside for the moment and concentrate on the service? They were excellent. They looked after me from start to finish, gave me advice on how to look after the extensions, and kept me occupied with copious cups of tea and magazines while they worked tirelessly on my tresses. The result was a fabulous mane of hair, double the thickness of my previous sad mop - and it lasted for 6 months. It wasn't cheap at all, actually very expensive indeed, but when you consider the man-hours and the cost of ordering and dying the hair to match mine, it wasn't a surprise. I went into it with my eyes wide open, knowing it would hurt my wallet. I would more than recommend this place if anyone is thinking of having extensions put in and are prepared to pay for good quality service and product. If they can make me look good, they can do it for anyone!

The stylists are all very friendly and it is clear they get on well, which makes it a relaxing and fun place to visit. I was made very welcome and given cup of tea while I waited, during the 2 hours I was there all the stylists spoke to me and were very friendly. My hairdresser was very knowledgeable and put me at ease, they also gave a hair treatment for no further charge. I would say there is a lot of things around in the decor and maybe it should have more extractor fan as it can get quite steamy. I would recommend this as a place to go if you want friendly hair dressers that know what they are doing and for a nice chat while you wait.

I don't have a regular hairdresser - with hair as bad as mine you just tend to give up. I also didn't really understand that most hairdressers are fully booked up weeks in advance. Hence leaving it until two days before needing an appointment to try booking one is a big no-no. After ringing a couple of salons I was beginning to resign myself to the fact that I would just have to be my usual slovenly mess for the wedding. It was just then I noticed Twisted Scissors & Soul on Yelp and its 5 star review from Jen A. I gave it one last go and contacted them. Unfortunately Twisted Scissors & Soul were fully booked too but they offered me the option of a wash and blow dry with their Trainee Jordan. I was delighted at this and quickly booked an appointment. A modern, stylish salon with skull wallpaper and ornate silver framed mirrors, Twisted Scissors & Soul is super cool. Luckily it's also super relaxing to visit and boasts two Stylists and a Beautician. Plus there's the wonderful Trainee Jordan. Jordan washed my hair with volume enhancing shampoo and conditioner. She give me a fantastic blow dry (referred to in-house as a "Wendy") and left my normally fuzzy, extremely fine hair looking smoother, fuller and much, much better. I was absolutely delighted and have already booked a return appointment to get my hair cut. A superb Salon with a great team of staff who helped me out in my hour of need. It's also great to have a one-stop shop for both hair and beauty appointments. A true hidden gem.

The salon caters for men and woman with short or long styles. I've had my hair cut here a few times and it's always a pleasurable experience, plus there is some free off road parking so it's really convenient The atmosphere is relaxed and salon itself is quite small so you get the right level of attention at all times without the hustle and bustle of larger salon There is also a beauty therapist on site too so if you fancy a facial, massage or nails done say the same time the option is there A great spot for a bit of pampering and now my new go to salon
