The paint on the used bike frame I purchased was not in desirable condition, despite how much I tried to cover all its scratches; "sore spots". So Option B came to mind....to powder coat all the frame and parts. I dealt with Richard, the owner of Powdertech. The process was fairly easy. Just provide him all the parts needed to be powder coated (parts are to be stripped off, nuts and bolts removed, etc). All parts are then sand blasted to bare metal finish and smoothed out. Then that is where it goes through a powder coating process and the parts are "baked" into a 400 degree oven until finished. So why powder coat and not paint? Let me lay out the benefits... * Smoother texture * More durable * More resistant to chipping, scratching and fading * Longer-lasting * Corrosion resistant * Wide range of colors to choose from (up to 6500+ colors) All in all, I received my parts back in about 7 days despite how busy the shop was with orders. The parts looked brand new and I was definitely pleased with how my overall bike build turned out.

After two months and three, we'll have it at the end of the week promises- four if you count the repeated promise today, I gave up and brought the items home. They folks can handle basic black, but colors cause problems. They don't do projects in the order received and they clearly favor big jobs over small ones. Waited another week and finally went in today and picked up my parts that had not been touched. Was never even asked why I wanted them back or offered a reason why the work was not done. No communication skills and it seems they do not know how to use a phone or return calls. Would not recommend at all. Took the parts to 904 Powderworx and told them the issue, not only are they coating the parts, they have heard this same story about them and picked up lots of new customers because of it.

A stop by the office to meet with the lady at the desk and schedule the first appointment. The owner came out and did measurements. I went out and saw him and discuss what I was looking to get for a custom gate that would also prevent my three little dogs from going through it. After he was done with his measurements he left without ever saying anything to me. About a month later I called to find out what the status was and was told that he was getting the design together and will be sending it to me soon. Shortly after that I received an email with the design and my wife and I returned back to the office to discuss changes to that design to make sure that our little dogs cannot go through the gate. A month later they scheduled a "final measurement appointment" but did not show up on that appointment day. We were notified that he was busy and would be rescheduled for the following week. Unfortunately no one showed up on that day either. He must have stopped by because a few more months later I was told they were ready for a down payment and to finalize the plan. We again stoped by the office and discussed things with the ladies and put our down payment in. A few more months later and I called to find out how things were progressing. Finishing soon then will call me to schedule the install. I called another month later and made the appointment for the Instal. I called the morning of the install to make sure we were still a go and was told "sorry they were behind and would have to reschedule the next week. Today called again to confirm and YES. They will be out after noon. Checked in at 3 and still going. At 5 I received a call to ask if I still wanted to get it installed today or first thing in the morning. This was my only day off so they did install it @5pm. They were very good and did a great job. The gait looks great and will be looking good for decades to come.
