Jose provided drawings with his software and engineering plans so I would know what the finished project would look like. Unfortunately we could not proceed do to city restrictions beyond his control. We pivoted to a free standing cover with the max dimensions without a permit required. In my city that is 120sq ft based on my lot size. I felt very comfortable with Jose's workmanship and ability to follow through with the work laid out. Price was better than all the other competitors quotes by thousands. There were some times were Jose got very busy and was lacking in timely responses, but eventually we were able to get all the details worked out and once work started they finished in about 4 working days over a week. I would definitely recommend to any friends or family looking to build a patio cover. Would hire again Thank you!

Ceda Construction renovated an old house that my wife and I bought in Tacoma. The renovation…read moreincluded moving walls, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc. It all went very well with the planned renovations, but unfortunately, we had unforeseen problems by nature of it being an old house. The general contractor Chris and his excellent team stayed with us, taking on these new projects that involved significant work to get us settled in the house. Chris was most enthusiastic throughout with many excellent suggestions. His team members had exceptional talent for customizing solutions for unique problems that could not be solved by off-the-shelf items or standard skills. Amazing things were accomplished without a lot of fanfare. They were always so pleasant and patient, explaining what and why when asked. Ceda Construction deserves ten stars!

Better Homes Home Improvements completed a patio cover for us this fall. We are very happy with…read moreit, and it seems like quality work. I have to drop them a couple stars however. First, there were several sheet metal screws left around the deck and in our driveway after they left - one of them ended up in my truck tire. Also, during the estimate we talked about covering up our existing 4X4 posts with the same material used on the new posts (to match). I don't think it made it into the statement of work however. Still, I called them to ask if I could pay to have them come out and add this. No response. Called again and left message - no response.

Big Promises - Little Follow Up…read more I DO NOT recommend you use Better Homes Home Improvements (BHHI) for two reasons: poor follow up after initial construction and shoddy craftsmanship. Background: We contacted BHHI to build a deck and pergola cover in our back yard. We worked with John Boughal, starting in August, 2017. He was very easy to work with and is very experienced. We signed a contract and used the company's recommended credit union. The total project cost: 15,000. Because of the summer rush, construction did not begin until October. Construction took three days and the workers were pleasant and professional. However, as part of tying in the deck to the house, they had to cut into the hardiboard siding. Their process left a 3" gap between the deck and the hardiboard. It took some conversations with John to convince him to put in trim to cover the gap. Once they were complete and left, they left trash, sawdust, and extra screws. They also did not fix the hardiboard siding and left the trim unpainted on the ends. By December, the gutter end piece fell off, the deck pieces started to warp, and one corner of the deck started to raise. I called John and left messages, took pictures and sent two texts. I received no answers. In June, I called the main office and talked to Paul, a co-owner. He said he would have someone come out and fix the problems. A week later, some guys came out and fixed the boards with extra screws. The funny thing was that they mentioned that they knew about this type of board warping --- why did they not add extra screws during initial construction? They also caulked the exposed nails on the trim and said they would come back to pait the trim. Shortly after talking to Paul, I did receive a call from John apologizing for not returning my calls/texts because he receives a lot of spam on his phone? A month later, the workers have not returned. I took pictures and sent a text to Paul. Shortly thereafter, I received a call from John saying that he never promised to paint the hardiboard or trim. That they never do that and some people prefer the 3" gap with flashing exposed. Here is what I think: I am paying $15,000 for a deck and cover. For that amount of money, I believe I deserve to receive a professional product (and warranty) that seamlessly ties into my house and maintains the integrity of the house against weather and insects. For shoddy craftsmanship and poor follow-up, I do not recommend you use this company.

We…read morehad heard so many horror stories from friends and family about unreliable or untrustworthy contractors. Our project was big and complicated, so we wanted it done right. I interviewed at least six companies and Jeff's was the most impressive. He was always on time, communicated clearly, was patient about changes to the project, and was upfront about costs. At the beginning of the project he openly shared his subcontractor bids so everything was transparent. He happily worked alongside subcontractors that we had separately hired to do a full house rewire. And his crew was always polite, tidy, efficient, and did great work! We have no hesitation recommending Jeff to others, and will be calling him in the future for more projects. The only question is if he will agree to come back (we were kind of a pain in the butt, but Jeff has the patience of a saint!).
