This place isn't cheap (averaging a £100 a night). The location, on Canterbury's high street, was excellent. My room was quite pleasant. The view (of a corrugated roof) wasn't exactly inspiring. Tea-making facilities are available in the room along with a few top-grade cookies and organic tea. The bed was comfortable but the height of it and the placement of the television (at a little over bed-height) when combined with my double chin made TV viewing a little uncomfortable. Poor planning. Breakfast was very nice. However, not without some problems. On the first day we went down at 10am expecting that half an hour would be plenty of time. Due to the slow service by the time our breakfast had arrived they had started clearing away the buffet items. My full English breakfast wasn't as full as it could have been. I only had one fried egg and there was no black pudding (kaszanka). Not that I am particularly fond of black pudding, but I would like to get some. I suspect I had been given someone else's break. Oh, the toast was burnt too. When I am staying in a classy hotel I expect them not to burn my toast. Breakfast on the second day was more agreeable, I arrived early to ensure I was able to take advantage of the buffet. The hotel's cocktail bar was very nice. The first night I had an egg nog and for a nightcap a banana rumba drink. Not cheap at ten pounds a shot. But, hey, I wasn't paying Checking out was a pain. The girl had trouble understanding that I wanted separate bills for each night's stay. I gave up in the end.

Plus, Patisserie Valeri across the street has some of the best pastries i've ever had. -The rooms were nice, a good size and modern. The beds were comfortable but a wee-bit narrow but nothing extreme. -The staff was O.K nothing to write home about but they are not very knowledgeable of the area but were fine overall -The restaurant looks like a complete waste of money but then again I didn't find the desire to eat there with so many options just down the street. All in all will stay there again when in canterbury

I was out back in the coach house, which was a little surprising, and a little inconvenient as they were in the middle of doing renovations, so we were having to walk through or around large plastic sheets. The location was perfection, and the staff were helpful. I had an injury and was able to get ice each night when I got back to keep the swelling down. Would like to go back when renovations are complete.

The staff were excellent, all extremely pleasant and helpful. The even allowed us to leave our car in their car park whilst we went on a tour of Canterbury Cathedral. The hotel is of modern construction and the comfortable rooms all have on suit shower rooms, tv's, tea, hair dryer, iron and ironing board. All rooms apparently have a view of the Cathedral. The hotel does not serve dinner. Breakfast has been ok: service a bit slow if you order "English Breakfast", quantities of tea and coffee have been the best I have ever seen in a hotel. Service is friendly and courteous, both at breakfast and at the reception. Recommended!

Best thing about this hotel is Robert who was absolutely fabulous! He went above and beyond - from giving us the recommendation to go to the evening choir service at the Cathedral to waking up super early for our departure to help us with our luggage and give us some breakfast to go. No there is no elevator but honestly all the positives make up for it and this is the only place I will stay whilst in Canterbury. Highly recommend!

Natalie was exceptional. Helping with ideas for dinner, to where to shop for a warm coat. (Temps dropped quickly!) Continental breakfast is included - was much more! Fruit, croissants, cereals and even porridge (delicious). Rooms were very clean, with updated bathrooms. Strong water pressure and fluffy towels. Stayed Friday/Saturday nights so the street below was noisy - but quieted down by midnight. I will be returning!

The price is right for a no-frills stay, even if some of the walls look like they have already seen a lot of abuse. Travelodges don't exactly attract the best clientele - ahem - but I'd definitely stay again over some of the horrific B&Bs and overpriced hotels you can find in Kent.

The service very friendly…read more We were moved here from the Pilgrims Hotel near the middle of the old town, since that hotel was undergoing renovations beyond schedule, and these are two of four hotels owned by the same people. At first we were a little bummed to be away from the middle, especially because we had to lug our bags all the way over from Pilgrims to Castle House. But in the end we were happy with the hotel. The somewhat remote location made us walk more and explore things that we otherwise probably wouldn't have found. I believe the pricing is similar to Pilgrims, which is quite reasonable.

My only complaint, which isn't the fault of the hotel, is the noise. Lots of noise late in the evening either from the bar or the street foot traffic. Several people rolling at at 1:00am after several pints. The hotel is just off of the city center which is great in many respects. For people on foot or bike it is fantastic, if you're driving a car, not as much. Route to the hotel is challenging with a car. Also no onsite parking. Car park is an extra $15USD. But back to the good, room was comfortable and breakfast was very classic BnB. Staff were all great, lady managing the breakfast did a great job with the morning rush.
