It started with a basic problem: my wallet had been stolen, so I did not have a physical credit card with me. I had already paid for the room. I was trying to explain the situation and find a practical solution. The person at the desk was new and, from what I could tell, did not know how to handle it. Fine. People are new. That is when you get a manager. So I asked for the manager. Instead, security came over. While I was trying to explain what had happened, security started interrupting me. I told them not to talk over me and that I wanted to speak with the manager. Then, somehow, a routine hotel check-in problem became a police matter. The hotel called the police. The officers who responded knew me and understood that I was not a threat. What they told me afterward is the part that should trouble Hyatt enormously: they said that if they had not known me, they would have approached the situation with guns drawn. Think about that. A stolen wallet. A physical-credit-card problem. A guest asking for a manager. And it escalated to a police response that, according to the responding officers themselves, could have involved officers arriving with weapons drawn. That is not merely bad customer service. That is reckless escalation. Police officers have real emergencies to deal with. They should not be diverted because hotel staff cannot competently manage a payment issue and a guest asking to speak with management. At some point, the fact that I was carrying a gun became part of the situation, and the hotel had a trespass notice issued against me. So here is what actually happened: I paid for a room. My wallet had been stolen. I did not have a physical credit card. I asked for a manager. Security interrupted me instead of helping. The hotel called the police. The responding officers told me the situation could have resulted in police arriving with guns drawn had they not already known me. I was not allowed to spend the night in the room I had already paid for. And I left with a trespass notice instead of a hotel key. This was not de-escalation. It was escalation layered on top of incompetence. And I cannot ignore how the experience felt. I am visibly gender-nonconforming, and I came away believing that the way I looked affected how quickly I was treated as a threat rather than as a paying guest. I cannot know what was in anyone's head, but I can describe exactly how I was treated. Apparently hospitality now means: Pay for the room. Ask for a manager. Get security. Get the police. Risk an armed response. Get thrown out. One star.

We just wanted a quick shower and to get to the party. Unfortunately our room wasn't ready even at 3:30. There were other guests waiting around the lobby area also waiting for rooms to be ready. The person checking us in explained that they were sold out the night before which was the reason rooms weren't ready. I call BS as checkout is 11:00. Rooms should be ready by 3:30 period. Our room didn't end up being ready until 4:15. Besides that ridiculousness we had a great stay. I'm a big fan of The Embassy Suites product overall. Being a family of five it works out great. You can't beat the bigger room, free breakfast, free happy hour, and indoor pool/hot tub. Location is great right by the river. Very convenient to Old Town Sacramento, Downtown Sacramento, and right acroos the bridge from Sutter Health Park. Room was typical Embassy Suites Room with separate living room with pull out couch and bedroom. Room was very clean and appeared to be recently renovated. Enjoyed a dip in the hot tub as well. It was indoor along with the pool. Due to timing didn't get to take advantage of the free happy hour. Enjoyed the free breakfast in the morning. Many hot and cold items as well as made to ordet omelets which is amazing. I enjoyed my omelet. Will continue to stay at Embassy Suites Properties. They definitely need to make sure rooms are ready in a timely fashion.

The drinks were excellent, the complimentary breakfast had plenty of options, and while it was definitely a busy hotel, everything was well managed. We stayed on the 8th floor, which was nice and quiet. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and valet parking made coming and going easy. We'd definitely stay here again.

The restaurant and bar are great too--I definitely recommend trying them if you get a chance. I especially want to recognize Dwayne at the front desk. He was wonderful at check-in, and I appreciated how discreetly he shared our room information. For safety, I don't like when hotel staff announce room numbers out loud. He simply told us our floor and handed us the key with the room number written on it. That detail matters to me. Later, my feet were hurting so badly from my heels that I was walking without shoes. Dwayne noticed and ran to the front door to bring me slippers. It was such a kind, thoughtful gesture, and I wanted to make sure he got recognition for it. Thank you, Dwayne, for making our stay even better!

Check-in was smooth and quick! I also liked the way you can just text to have your car ready when leave. They have you sign a receipt after the meal and you take it to the front desk so they can take it off your bill. No complaints at all for this vintage hotel with lots of history since 1925 as it was the tallest building at the time.

When we arrived at 3pm, they said the room was clean, but hadn't been inspected and they would text me in 10min when it's done. Fast forward an hour later, and no text came through. We checked in with the front desk and their apology was that they forgot to let us know... The front desk agent didn't go through any of the hotel amenities or benefits as part of the Edit. 2) Room itself is nice and shower is enormous, but no bathtub which seems like a missed opportunity. 3) Social hour (5-6pm) is fun with generous pours of local wines, beer, cocktails and mocktails. Pool is popular and they provide sunscreen, which is a nice touch. No hot tub. Also, they are quite strict that it's only for hotel guests as there is someone guarding the entrance. 4) The only on-site hotel restaurant, Revival, is 21+, which is discouraging for families. You can order takeout to your room though. 5) Fitness center is certainly on the smaller side, but has the necessities. Overall, a solid hotel that misses on a few marks for service.

When I checked in on Sunday (July 26th, around 4:30 pm), the female staff (whose name I forgot, ) at the front desk was very friendly, professional and super nice. I got a very nice upgraded room (because of my daughter's credit card privileges). The room was big and clean. But the spotlight is on the bathtub!!! A standalone, deep, and curved soaking bathtub that I was able to enjoy this full-body immersion experience with the mandarin and citrus bath salts that the hotel provided. That made my stay truly luscious and fulfilling my daughter's aspirations for me!!. They have a coffee time in the morning at the lobby where we can choose from tea, hot coffee or iced coffee. Then we got to enjoy the social hour for drinks from 5 pm to 6 pm. They offered various wines, beers, liqueurs, non-alcoholic drinks, and appetizers. I particularly liked the cocktail, Silver Spoon cocktails, offered on day 1. It's very smooth and mellow especially when pairing with Korean spicy chicken wings which were the perfect appetizer. We really enjoyed the time at the cozy lobby. It's a nice way to cool down. They have a cocktails making class (Mixology) at the Revival (hotel bar/restaurant) for registered guests and the class is offered daily at 4 pm, same Cocomo drink every day. Adam was a fun and energetic teacher and we all were joyfully engaging like the perfect students. I liked the drink and the the class!! Activity for adults. It's totally cool! We ate our meals mostly at the Revival and room services from the Revival too. I will do a separate review about the restaurant. I loved their gym. Quite spacious with quite a few equipment. I was there exercising alone so I tried most of the equipment. They have a big beautiful pool that's absolutely inviting. They also have several cabanas for groups rental. But it's just too hot to be outside. So I spent most of my time in my hot soaking tub! . I also went shopping and watched a movie. Shenna was very pleasant when she helped me to check out of the hotel. I had a great stay.

I woke up with 2 very sore fingers on my right hand. I reported to desk (only 1 staff working solo). She did give me an ice pack and a wrap. She did apologize. She asked me what she could do. That's odd to me, I've been in customer service over 45 years, I never asked a customer "what can I do?" for bad service or experience s...just make it better. I told her have someone go remove the nightstand so the next guest doesn't get injured. I went back to room to record how severely unbalanced the table was. A HK Supv (Myneli) was very kind but also unsure came by, I told her take it out PLEASE. It's a handicap room to make it easier for those of us with disabilities, not to make it unsafe or uncomfortable! She removed it as I requested. The front desk agent, said she was going to make an incident report and a manager would contact me, I never heard from anyone. That was 5 days ago. The front desk agent said she would put some points on my honors account, never happened. I also reported that I left my breakfast passes on the same dresser I placed the tip (not 2gether) the tip and passes were gone. The front desk did replace them, thank you. I also chose this location because it had an outside hot tub near the pool but was disappointed to see CAUTION tape like a crime scene. No access. PLEASE update repairs so we have accurate info when booking! I opted for a hot bath (dirty tub, I had to clean. See photos) There was also long hairs on the soap & shampoo bottles. I always travel with clorox wipes BUT why do we have to spend so much money and still have to sanitize a room? I still leave a cash tip daily because im sure they work hard & are most likely low wages. It's the right thing to do. Lastly the decor in the room was off. Only 2 small pictures and no full length mirror nor suitcase stand. I reactivated my Marriot account, I don't know if I will continue on with Hilton.... Update Manager?
