Ebisu Design has now established a Japanese restaurant / take away in it's midst.
You can't tell it's a restaurant from the front for the food sign on the window, as you open the door the setting is amongst Japanese crafts.
The large carved stone pot and water feature still exists with floor to ceiling bamboo pipes decorating the room, also the fire place is still in place which makes for a cosy sit by.
Soft pastel green Chairs and stools on high heavy wooden tables which add to the Japanese them, tastefully decked out with Mihos famous Japanese art decorating the walls which are all for sale.
The kitchen and bar soon to be licensed is visible from the tables and you can see the Japanese chef busily preparing your delightfully tasty dishes.
Known for it's Japanese furniture and crafts it is now serving up a delectable taste of Japanese food.
The menu offerings are minimal which is a great idea keeping it simple, I think the menu will grow as time goes by.
You can prepare and serve yourself a pot of several different tastes of tea which is a nice touch.
I had the Teriyaki Grilled Salmon. This is firstly soaked in a special broth to keep it moist throughout the grilling process and topped with a semi sweet sauce which added to the melting taste of Salmon, served with garden greens, seaweed and rice with Miso soup with seaweed and mushrooms, all very well presented on a rectangular plate looking very traditional.
Sushi and Sashimi is also available.
Great presentation, atmosphere and price wise, very reasonable indeed.
The hosts Dean and Miho are very friendly, humble and pleasant couple.
I think a taste of Japanese cuisine for Ormond Rd is a great change from other offerings on this small busy strip in Elwood.
Worth trying, 5/5 a great little find and room to expand to a bigger place in the future. I highly recommend it. read more
