About four months ago, we went through the most challenging period of our lives. Two months earlier, we discovered that our 14-year-old son had developed an eating disorder, and we felt completely lost, unsure of where to turn for help. Despite seeking support from a reputable local therapist specializing in eating disorders, his condition quickly deteriorated. None of the local treatment options we explored gave us confidence. We were strongly advised to consider ERC in Dallas (Plano), but after reading every available review, we were terrified. We feared that a residential program might traumatize him rather than help, or that he might pick up new, harmful behaviors. Some reviews even made us worry about an unnecessarily prolonged stay, raising concerns that financial motives might outweigh patient well-being. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The doctors and staff at ERC are genuinely dedicated to helping these kids heal and ensuring they have the tools to maintain recovery. I have rarely, if ever, witnessed such dedication, expertise, and professionalism in the healthcare system in this country (and we've lived in Florida, New York, and California). The educational program at ERC, under the leadership of Dr. Wooten, is exceptional. With over 30 years of experience in treating eating disorders, he is truly a leader in his field. He deeply understands the critical role parents play in recovery and equipped us with the knowledge and resources we needed. Our son spent five weeks in residential treatment and four weeks in PHP. By the end of his stay, he had restored his weight and developed the right recovery mindset. While we couldn't find a suitable IOP program back home, we felt confident and empowered to continue his recovery journey on our own, transitioning directly to an outpatient team. Lukas deeply misses his team at ERC--his therapist, Kayann Richards, and his dietitian, Summer Spaide, were phenomenal. Their warmth, professionalism, and deep expertise helped redirect him onto a healthy path while also helping us reconnect as a family. They taught us how to communicate with him effectively, how to support him nutritionally, and how to keep him motivated to continue eating. This experience has made us stronger and better prepared to navigate not only the long path out of an eating disorder, but the more general challenges of adolescence. Looking back, it's hard to believe that just three months ago, we were lost and desperate for answers. Today, we are filled with gratitude and hope. My 16 year old daughter went into the Residency program for her Eating Disorder. She was there for 8 weeks. She ultimately required a nasogastric tube (NG tube) to help her reach her meal plan and reaching her weight goal. She actually decided to get the NG tube on her own. The experience, while not initially pleasant, helped her get her digestion system rehabilitated. Her Team was amazing, especially the Family Therapist Kristen. Do not send your children here as many other parents have stated. Cannot stress this enough. As we all understand that what condition your child may be facing is serious, please take the time to educate yourself a long with following up with reading as many reviews as possible especially when it comes to your child's health and well being. ERC does not prepare your child for what is coming nor do they prepare you for that matter. They are not transparent with their program, despite what they say, and there are several discrepancies amongst themselves within the organization. ERC's focus is not to get your child better but how to make us much money off you as possible. Our child has been in the program for three to four weeks now and the only progress we have see is the drain in our account. Dr. Haque's focus is how quickly can I get your child pumped with medications as this is really the only way to treat the disease. Instead of focusing on a treatment plan that would more relevant for your child, his belief is it cannot be done without medication, typical of most Psychiatrist. This is one of the biggest problems in today's society, how quickly can we get your children on antidepressants so they are addicted to it for the rest of their lives. He is also not one, after meeting with him, that is great with children. He comes across as very cocky, stuck up, and honestly just isn't great with children which makes it more difficult for any individual to get better, especially when you feel that you are just being belittled. Transparency is something ERC knows nothing of, they only focus on how much can we actually keep from you instead. They are also all over the place with their policies, what is good for one may not be good for another. Maybe your child can have this but can't have that, even know it is technically the same thing. As many others have stated, they do not prepare you for what is to come other than stripping you of your rights to be a parent. You can bring clothes for your child, but you can't bring clothes for your child. You can bring books for your child but you can't bring books for your child. It is a constant tit for tat with them on what you can and cannot do. If your child is seeking help for an eating disorder, please do not bring them here. Again, there focus is not to help your child but to gain us much profit off you as possible. They never pushed helping our child to eat, nor did they ever focus on what was causing our child not to eat. We went through several sessions, therapies, groups, and so much more and never saw any progress with our child. After weeks of our child being there with no progress we finally decided to pull them out and we were so thankful we did. We found a much better program that focused on the root cause, with a medical team to help our child instead of attempting to push medication down there throat. They focused on our child like ERC should have but didn't, and within a week we already starting seeing the difference. They didn't focus on pronouns, what your child wore, what they read, what they did was focus on the cause of why they weren't eating and attacked it head on. My only wish is that I would have never taking my child to that awful place ERC, that is my only regret and if I could go back in time and change something in my life, out of everything it would truly be that decision. So please before you sign your children's life in their hands, read reviews, do the homework, find out about the team and doctors (Honestly I could find nothing on) and I think you will find this is truly not the place for your child nor any child for that matter. read more

My mom was completely out of the loop and in a fog of information given by my treatment team regarding my own health and state of recovery that it ended in family turmoil at home and my own mental health suffering further. I felt as though I was discharged without any life skills or self confidence, just with extra weight on my body and a broken family life. Long story short, do not send your child here. incompetence is common with the staff. They genuinely don't know/don't care about the patients. This place has had many lawsuits against psychiatrists who STILL work there. ERC gets sold to a different company each year for more money, since that is all that they want. read more
