One stop shop for all things Italian food related plus in-house restaurant options. Rating this as a grocery and not restaurant since I didn't eat here. I was in the neighborhood and noticed some reviews mentioned this was a good place to pick up food souvenirs. Hafta say I agree, there are all sorts of items and a ton of variety to choose from. From the outside it looks very similar to the locations in NYC, an entirely glass facade a couple stories tall with the word "Eataly" in big caps across the front. There's a stand alone in-house restaurant directly across from the main entrance as well as open air seating at outdoor tables. It was a pretty warm day so I didn't see many people outdoors. Inside the building it's laid out like a mid-size supermarket with a bar area on the street-level floor and essentially a fancy food-court style restaurant level on the second floor, accessible by escalator and elevator. I wasn't hungry so I spent most of my time wandering the aisles checking out the different products. Most of their assortment are items you'll also find in their overseas locations though at a more affordable price. (Like seriously so much cheaper than in NYC.) There's fresh produce, meat and dairy, a bakery, frozen section, home goods, cooking/baking ingredients and condiments, drinks, prepackaged and canned foods, snacks and sweets, wine and alcohol. It was certainly convenient to hit up for the breadth of products! Checkout was easy enough they take cash or cards with chips. Same general rule in Europe they'll charge for paper bags if needed, I had carried a reusable bag with me for this exact purpose so that worked out. They do the traditional aperitivo here, kinda like "happy hour" but refers more to the alcoholic drinks served before a meal, which nowadays usually encompasses a small bite too. I don't get the impression that the general food here is especially stellar, I didn't eat at this location but there are a lot of local specialty spots around so I'd suggest checking those out to start. The crunchiest, most juicy chicken anyone could dream of! At the top of this amazing Italian marketplace is a dine-in restaurant called the Food & Pizza Theatre. The menu features everything from meats and seafood to salads, pastas, soups, main courses, desserts, and of course, pizzas. I ordered the "Rusticella di Pollo alla Diavola" . It includes a boneless seasoned chicken thigh with roasted friggitelli and spicy mayonnaise--and it was a total knockout. Loved it! The waitress warned me that it was really spicy so I was nervous, however, it wasn't that bad and complemented the rest of the dish very well! I also ordered a side of rustic fried potatoes, which was fantastic. The menu is mostly in Italian, but the English translations, written beneath most dishes, were very helpful. Always fun times at Eataly, but to be able to go to Eataly in Italy, it's such a treat. The holiday decorations were up so it was really festive. The layout of the store is somewhat similar to that of Vegas and San Jose, but this location can't be beat. Got some Italian chocolates and chips and super cute canvas bag and water too. There's a resto, deli, every Italian wine you can imagine, grab n go and more! I'd definitely recommend a stop here while in Milan, about 15-20 walking distance from city center. read more

I love Eataly and we got a lot of good products there. Pistachio cream, chocolates, different pasta, marmalade, spices, prosciutto... But we always get caught in between lunch and dinner time. Everything was closed for lunch after 3 pm beside terrace outside. I can tell you in 30 degrees heat pasta with the seafood isn't a great idea, but it was only appealing food on the menu. Pasta came horribly al dente and we both didn't finish our meal. Wasn't worth it. Also it was so packed that they sit people the way that they stare at you while you eat.... Came here for dinner during our last night in Italy as my partner's former colleague suggested meeting up here. There are Eataly locations all over now, but I never thought to come by for dinner. I believe there are a couple of different restaurants within, but we went to their pizza and pasta restaurant specifically. I got their tortelli di zucca burro e salvi, which consisted of 4 very large tortellini that were filled with ricotta, sage, brown sugar, and sweet potato. It was good, albeit on the pricier side. Not exactly a light meal also, and I felt quite full afterwards. Eataly has good quality food stuffs, so I imagine their restaurants should also have that same kind of high quality mark to them. A "safe" overall bet if you're not sure what to eat, if you happen to be in this part of Milan. read more

I came here 9:30 in the morning and it was pretty amazing! The bakery just put out some fresh bread so got to try some fresh samples of focaccia here! They have so many flavors and varieties, I bought the dolce focaccia, it was slightly sweat and was so good, fluffy and fresh. They also have a coffee bar, so I grabbed a cappuccino and a croissant, it was probably a bit more expensive than outside at a smaller cafe. Since it was still early in the morning, I got to explore the whole store and see everything it had to offer without really bumping into anybody and I felt like I had the whole store to myself. Even this early in the morning, they had people giving various samples of things, for example I also had some panettone cake. They have a huge selection of Italian foods and snacks, you can consider buying some gifts here or something Italian for yourself! It's foremost a store for Italians, not something for tourists but it definitely is easy for tourists to visit here. They make some cheeses here, have gelatos, wine, gelato, seafood, butcher shop, and almost anything you can think of. I was pleasantly surprised so much in this store by just exploring it, so much hidden surprises! I'd recommend coming here during lunch or dinner too so you can experience the full food experience while exploring the groceries. read more

I could easily take food from the table next to us. I actually had a conversations with a local couple. They were curious where in America we were from. Food Drinks - La Vola Basso IPA a local beer, they actually had four beers all together from the same local brewery. Dinner - First night in Italy you know I am ordering pizza. My daughter-in-law and I both ordered a pizza and share and half with each other. The Diavola is a classic pepperoni pizza and the Parma which is fancy Italian ham. I know I did not give justice to the beautiful ham. Please look at my pictures to understand this ham better. In classic Italian style the pizzas came out uncut allowing you to select the perfect slice yourself. A sharper knife would have been great. But that pizza was magical. If you are in Milan, go try Eataly! It is a grocery story primarily but it also has over 5 restaurants within its 3 floors. Warning: the majority of them only open at Italian food hours (aka, for lunch and then dinner. No in between). This is the place also come buy some food gifts if you want to take some back to your family. The employees are kind and were able to guide me through the large selection of pretty much everything Italian you can think of. They helped choose olive oil based on its intensity, wine based on the region and even the best chocolates. What I loved too is that they didn't suggest the most expensive thing, which I've noticed sometimes happens when an employee can tell you're not from the area. Also, you must go try the Fior di Latter soft-serve. If you haven't already tried the flavor while in Italy, you have made a big mistake that you must immediately correct. It's the traditional Italian gelato flavor that is made out of pure milk. Even if you don't buy anything, Eataly gives you great insight into the importance of food in the Italian culture. Everything is refined and thought to the last detail. Italian food doesn't just come together, it's ingredients are crafted with care and precision to make the ideal dish. finally a decent Eataly opened in Milan! (I've never liked the tiny one in the basement of Coin). However, I was expecting something a bit bigger, after having been to the one in Rome that is huge, but I guess Mr. Farinetti used all the space he had available as best as he could. After the several visits I've paid to the new Eataly Smeraldo in these past 2 weeks, fighting against the crowds and waiting patiently to be seated in Italian imperfect queues, here's a list of pros and cons: Pros: - the carne cruda (meat tartar) in the Meat/Fish restaurant is amazing, so soft and tender it doesn't feel like raw meat; - The ice cream is amazing!; - I think it's a good idea to put together the Meat and Seafood restaurants; - I could stare at the people making the mozzarella for hours; - I like the green Superga sneakers of the employees; - I love that they've kept the stage of the theater and that there's live music playing while I dine; - Mr. Farinetti hangs around the pace often and he seems so nice and smiley (of course I would be as smiley as him with all the money he's making :) ) - They have Spaghettoni Cavalieri, my favorite pasta! - All staff are nice, especially the guys at the piadine stand; - I loved Alice restaurant! Cons: - the market spaces are reduced, I was hoping for something bigger; - super-small selection of home products (baking trays, books, utensils), they should have just gotten rid of it and made the market or the restaurants a bit bigger; - the wine selection is not as wide as the ones in Rome and Turin, and the mediocre wines of J.Bastianich were prefered instead of other, better and less expensive, wines; - Fruit and vegetables are too expensive (and the ones in Eataly Rome looked better); -There's no tuna in the Fish restaurant menu (I love Eataly's tuna). read more

If you are a food lover I highly recommend stopping by to check out this huge, multi-level, high end food emporium close to Corso Como. Have a meal at one of the several different restaurants, grab coffee and something sweet at the cafe/chocolatier, pickup some nice wine or cheese to bring home, or do all of the above! It can be a little overwhelming at first having so many high quality choices in one location so if it's your first visit give yourself a little extra time to browse and discover everything Eataly has to offer. Wow my mate was right this concept store is amazing. We stopped in for pizza as the prices were quite reasonable and when we arrived the restaurant was fairly empty but by the time our pizza arrived the place was full. I has the cheese, mushroom and ham pizza and it was blissful and oh so perfectly balanced. The price for two pizzas, a glass of red wine and a large bottle of mineral water was just €27 which I think for the quality an amazing deal. My main complaint is that the goods are quite pricey (the exception being the wine on tap which is a great deal, just fill the growler and go). So I don't actually buy anything from here, but its still fun to roam the isles. However, the scene is a hectic one. FOOD. EVERYWHERE! For any food lover this is a great place to go to at the end of your italy trip in order to buy all that good olive oil and pasta and balsamico and cookies and wine that you can only get in italy. Eataly is a three floor tall huge shop that sells basically nothing but italian food products. It is like paradise. To make it even better they have three restaurants, on each floor one: One offers pizza, one sea food, and the last one meat. Basically they just set up some tables and chairs on one side of the floor and marked the area as restaurant. Which is really clever, because anyone shopping will see the good food on the plates and won't be able to resist. We went with the sea food. As it was sunday, there were lots of people standing in line for a seat, so the staff wrote down everyone's names on a list. Assuming that it would take quite a while we went to get balsamico really quickly and then went back to the restaurant only to be informed by the waitress that they had been looking for us and gave our table to someone else. So we were really surprised when she winked at us and gave us the next available table. The food itself, and of couse also the wine, was amazing. We were offered free bread in small paper bags as soon as you sit down, and bring you your drinks quite quickly considering how full the place was. I ordered fish with potatoes and pesto, which was presented in a plastic wrap. It was delicious! The fish was tender and juicy and the pesto was simply great! So bring an extra bag and an empty stomach if you visit Eataly! I definitely will leave some extra space in my suitcase the next time. read more

We loved this place! What an experience! It's a multi floor Italian food marketplace, with a variety of restaurants too. There were restaurants for pizza, pasta, charcuterie boards, a wine bar and a full service restaurant. We had risotto and a wild mushroom dish at the full service restaurant. Yummy. The red wine I had was delicious and when I asked the host if it was sold in their wine section, he said yes and walked me over to help me find it on the shelf. What service! The supermarket and deli areas are great to see and fun for foodies. But at all costs avoid the sit down eating area on the first floor. Without a doubt the worst place I have been to eat in all of Europe. (Burger King was better) It is very expensive. The staff and service is poor. Don't expect everything you ordered to arrive on the same day, I mean same time. The food itself is sooooo underwhelming, there are lots of café's and restaurants nearby where you will eat better at half the price. If you don't take my advise and eat there anyway, check your bill, as my waiter couldn't count and added an extra person on our bill for the service charge. read more
