    Two Hungry Girls

    (1 review)

    Hampstead Village

Let me tell you something: these two girls are not only hungry, but also an enthusiastic, creative,…read morefun and especially well-organised bunch! I've now had the pleasure to benefit from their "services" twice and both times I was deeply impressed with what they created. First time around, I signed up for one of their supperclubs at their base in Hampstead. This was a fun affair and they catered to a hungry crowd of about 20 people: serving lychee cocktails in the garden and then a series of Chinese dishes...all of which I devoured lovingly, but none of which I remember the name of anymore. But I do remember, there being a really relaxed atmosphere and all the folks having a good time. What was really good, was that they had recruited some friends to help them with the serving and cooking and so both Shu and Leigh had time to chat with their guests once in a while. Having kept fond memories of the Two Hungry Girls, I then picked them when it came to finding a "different kind of caterer" for our office's Christmas party. In fact, I partnered up with the folks behind Edible Experiences and they in turn did they planning of the event along with Shu and Leigh. But anyway, what I wanted to say was: our Christmas party was a huge success! The Two Hungry Girls really outdid themselves and exceeded mine as well as my colleagues expectations. This is how our party invitation read: "Asia has long been a treasure chest of delicious food; especially that of street food markets where fresh produce is cooked on the spot and packed with flavour. Two Hungry Girls want to arrest your palate with vibrant Chinese and South East Asian Street Food favourites in a tropical and atmospheric setting. Learn to make a variety of fresh and cooked dishes which are typical of casual street food dining and about the ingredients that make them so tasty. At the end of the class you will enjoy the food you've handmade in a sharing-style meal with friends & colleagues before taking your recipe cards home." The hands-on menu on the evening itself was as follows: - Fresh Spring Rolls (Fragrant Chicken Strips & Fresh Vegetables wrapped in a Rice Noodle Sheet) - Rojak (Crunchy Pineapple, Cucumber, Radish Salad with a Spicy Caramelised Soy & Peanut Dressing) - Money Bags (Pork Dumplings wrapped to form little bundles and tied up with Chinese Chives) - Curry Puffs (Curried Root Vegetables encased in Flaky Pastry) My colleagues and I had a blast preparing all of these food items - I especially enjoyed preparing the money bags and tying them with chives. In fact, we prepared so much food, that on the next day, we still had so many leftovers that all us were still enjoying the salad and the curry puffs...and ideal hang-over food! All in all, I had two fantastic events with the Two Hungry Girls and I would really highly recommend to either attend of the supper clubs or maybe hire Shu & Leigh to do a slightly-different office party for you.
