Probably a dozen or so tables and they were able to seat our group of 6 easily. Our server was very nice and took our orders and was able to get all of ours right. Definitely a place to return to next time.

I had the Phad Karri Kai (Thai yellow curry with chicken and rice). The spice, flavor, fragrance, and portions just checked most of the boxes for me. If I was nitpicking, I'd say the rice was a little overcooked, but I'm not too picky. Beware ye of little spice tolerance, the curry might be too spicy for you.

The service was polite with the server telling us their most popular dishes. We started the meal with chicken satay with a yummy sauce to dip it in. It was really good and I almost wanted to order another. Next I ordered a number 12 on their menu which was a curry dish with choice of chicken or beef with some veggies in it. I liked the good mixture of gravy in this dish. It came with white rice. The entree was excellent. They also have many choices in their noodle entrees as well. I totally would eat here again when visiting. Side Note- They didn't appear to be open for lunch, only for dinner. Their hours of operation might be 3 pm and onwards.~

Fried shrimp - these were pretty good Tom yum noodles - never had tom yum in noodle form before, so we had to go for this (other than hot pot). This was decent, but nothing special Pad krapow chicken - the flavors in this were off. It needed more basil. Also, I'm not a fan of bell peppers and string beans in a pad krapow; they don't soak in much flavor

It seems too good to be true by just looking at the pictures on their facebook ads. Although I forgot to take picture of the buffét bar, it wasn't really much to take pictures of because I remember every single dish. Some chicken red curry that looked heavenly but tasted like air (tasteless favourless characterless everything-less) the rice smelled like coconut rice, but also tasteless. Then some fried noodle that didn't look as tempting. And fried-rice and wok that didn't really catch my attention because they don't really look appealing. Some fried chicken that were also tasteless and shivreled burnt springrolls (I suspect that they just haven't changed the frying oil for ages) that had like nothing inside and the shells weren't even crispy. On the top of the bar there were the typical asian-restaurant shrimp chips and some bean sprouts salads that also tasted NOTHING. Overall their sushi totally made up for the other dishes, creative maki rolls, some with salmon, others with tuna and most of them were tempura scampi. My favourite one was definetely the salmon sashimi. Their nigiri looked beated so I didn't wanted to risk foodpoisoning. I somehow managed to make my dish look dangerously sexy for Yelp! Giving it 3 stars because I'm a nice person. The price were totally NOT worth it. I could have just gone to an ordinairy sushi restaurant instead of going to a buffet for sushi.

My first experience at coming in was a look of inconvenience from the waitress, since I was a solo diner. Understandable if it creates frustration in a very small and popular restaurant - but you better put on your smile anyway, girl. Second I had to wait 30 minutes to get my curry, which felt like a long time for a Take Away place. Just to find that the chicken tasted burnt and the vegetable were almost raw. The red curry sauce could have had a bit more taste to it, and the portion could definitely have been bigger. All in all, my visit did not encourage me to come back, unfortunately.

At Thai Orchid, my favorite soup is the tomyum noodle soup with roast pork and fish balls (nr 34). The balance of flavors (savory, sour, sweet, spice) are on point. The pork has also a nice savory flavor unlike other soups where the meats are simple boiled with no savory flavor. The fried wonton skin and fish ball adds contrasting textures to enhance the eating experience. Rice noodles are perfectly al dente and that broth is to die for! I have tried the other dishes, but for me the highlight is soup nr 34. I will go far as to say it is the best noodle soup in the area!

You'd expect really bad, Norwegianized Thai food, right? I did, and I was surprised that it tastes pretty good! I had Green Curry which didn't hold back on spices, perhaps a little heavy on the coconuts. It's probably hip to downplay their food, but I have to say it's really not that far off from real Thai food. I wouldn't mistake it with a real fiery Tom Yum in a dirty tent in Bangkok where I grew up in, but it's decidedly better than a generic "Thai-and-Sushi restaurant" in Norway.
