I spoke to the guy who sets up appointments for the Nutley location. I had a conversation about my 18 yr old child needing tutoring to pass the HiSet test. I specifically explained how they have special needs, and really need one on one tutoring with someone who can teach them the math needed to pass the test. I was assured they could definitely provide this. So I made the appointment. My child shows up on time and no one knew why they were there. After straightening that out, payment was discussed. We only paid for one session. During this time my child mentioned how they have special needs, but no one ask what their needs were. If they did, they could have concluded that Sylvan Learning center is not going to accommodate them, this way I could have saved the $65 I wasted that day. It was crowded and noisy in the center. They got zero individual attention. They were put into a group of other students and given a tablet to work on. A child next to them had her tablet turned up on high, and it was very distracting. Very disappointed, and I feel like we were lead on to believe they understood this student's needs. But on the day of the appointment, the only subject discussed in detail was payment plans.

After applying one of the required ,they asked me for my ORIGINAL High School transcript. I asked if a copy was ok and MARIA GALLO said i needed the original. After feeling a little weary, I handed it to her. When I called back to my horror they lost it. It was difficult enough for me to obtain this copy to begin with because I graduated high school in the Philippines. MARIA GALLO not only told me that I never gave it to her, after calling back and insisting that I had given the transcript, I was hung up on. I called back and no one would answer! After calling several dozen times I was given a supervisors name, number, and email by the Financial Aid office that basically laughed at me. I have been very passionate about a future in nursing. Treating a prospective student like this is not only unfair and just unprofessional, but also hurtful. Please STAY AWAY from this school at all costs. I'm writing this review with a heavy heart. I'm not one to bash any company! If I dislike any…read morecompany I just go about my day and don't return. Unfortunately, today I felt the need to review this business due to the trauma my son has been facing. My son attended this center for less than 8 months. In which two major head injuries occurred (see photo). One hematoma on the forehead which has left him with permanent muscle tear and is visible when he cries or laughs real big. Second injury was staples on his head because they allowed another child to hit my son with a very heavy plastic toy that gashed my son's head pretty deep. This is not ALL staff but certainly some young ones who clearly are not meant to be in The field to care for children. Sadly also management not being more proactive to make sure teachers are more aware of the children's surroundings. These are only 2 incidents that I felt justifiable enough never to return. There were other incidents of my child constantly being bitten. My reason for writing this is because the staples incident occurred 4/4/2025 and today my son had a complete meltdown scared to return to a new daycare... still naming the child from kindercare who hurt him. I'm not blaming the child I'm blaming management for having people who don't care and for not being more involved in the classroom. When my husband returned the following Monday to retrieve our sons belongings the staff didn't even bat an eye and that's very sad to hear. The reviews you see here are from management office pushing to get reviews from both parents and staff. They aren't real reviews. I only know this because I was one of the parents who received those request in November/December. Due to the biting incidents it took me awhile to review. But after the hematoma I removed it. All bad reviews seem to have been deleted. I hope they do better... for the children's safety and for the parents who have to work and shouldn't have to worry about their children's safety.

So we had to un-enroll her. Also had an experience where there were only 2 kids in the class around 7:45am, and 2 teachers. One teacher was holding a crying toddler, yet the other teacher neglected to comfort our daughter who was screaming at her feet, while she continued to talk to the other teacher. She only interacted with her when she saw me looking at her from the side window. This was day 3 of my daughter being enrolled there. Which completely broke my heart seeing this as a first time day-care mom. I spoke to the director and requested a specific teacher be assigned to my daughter because I noticed she was the most nurturing from what I'd seen, but was told they could not honor my request and assign a specific teacher cause they don't take requests. A few kids had yellow snot running down their noses which also resulted in my daughter having a terrible flu for 2 weeks. Stopping in a couple times during the day we also noticed that her bottle and food was placed on the table and left, and if they dropped or she didn't eat, there'd be little attempt to ensure she has something in her tummy. So she was always extremely hungry and cranky when we picked her up and drank 2 bottles on the drive home from roseland to Montclair. Our experience was not the greatest, but yours may be different. Eventually, her stopping eating and drinking after a week of being there forced us to remove her & we appreciate miss Tessa understanding and issuing us a partial refund.
