What a fabulous way to enjoy the harbour.
I was not brought up sailing, and it's not something I can see my way to doing regularly - in fact, Jessica Watson is welcome to all that empty space OUT THERE - but having the chance to tour the waters under sail is a delight. No engine noise, just the flapping of the sail, accompanied by the occasional Yelp from the skipper when we've neglected some critical chore (grind blue! release white! huh?)
East Sail has compered a number of corporate days that have taken me to sea. On these days, a skipper takes charge of each 30-40 foot yacht, provides a short briefing then gives direction as the crew (with mixed experience, knowledge and enthusiasm) takes charge of an exploration and/or a race. I'd always wondered how there are not more collisions on a busy day on the harbour and after seeing us in charge, I wonder even more! The skippers must be more in control than we realise ...
Besides corporate days, East Sail also runs a sailing school and arranges yacht charters. read more
