We did a lot of research before we chose Easton BJJ based on its wonderful reviews. We're writing this to add yet another one! Our boy is initially shy with kids he doesn't know. Frankly, he used to be scared to try new things, too. We realized that he stood to benefit from martial arts training in so many ways: In addition to stepping out of his comfort zone and taking chances, he could get good exercise and learn to defend himself. He gets all of that and so much more at Easton BJJ. It sounds cliché, but EVERYONE who works at Easton is warm, inviting, inclusive and supportive. We worked with Coach Daniel to set up our first class. Despite the most amazing efforts by him, Professor Nick, and Coach Tala, he was too scared to get onto the mat and participate in the class. We anticipated this and allowed him to just observe since it was the first time he had seen the class. It took some coaxing, but we got him back to Easton for a second class. The incredible coaches kept trying to get him comfortable and buddy up with him, but without pressure. He cried. A lot. By his third or fourth class, he loved Jiu Jitsu and wanted to know how soon he could come back. Now we come to class at least twice a week. Our son works hard, spars with lots of different partners (some of whom are bigger than he is,) and actively engages with his teammates and coaches. He is proud to earn stripes because of his dedication and progress. His personal growth outside of the gym in just a few months was remarkable. His confidence, his ability to focus, his respect for himself and others, and his willingness to try new things have all grown at an amazing pace. These traits come from what happens on the mat, and they are shaping his character. And I know that if/when he gets into a physical confrontation, he will be confident, get on top of his opponent, and stay on top! Classes are fun, and the coaches ensure that the kids work hard and grow. The kids learn moves and spar, but there is a lot of emphasis on principles. Weekly mat-chat is a discussion that install important values like respect, sportsmanship, and emotions. At this point, Easton BJJ is very much a part of our kid's identity. He loves it so much that we had his 6th birthday party there and all of the kids had a blast. Many thanks to Coach Teddy for leading an incredible party filled with games, fun, and learning! They help kids who get a little bruise or are having a bad day stay on the mat and get back into class. They not only know Jiu Jitsu, they know children, too. If I could give them 0 starts I would. They are WAY overpriced for one. I highly regret ever getting involved with this business. The couple times my son went he was very unimpressed. He only went a second time because I made him. He never went again yet they charged me $229 for a "membership" that I never agreed too! I would highly suggest everyone stay away from this business. When my son got interested in Jiujitsu we first tried the place closer to our house (new I25 and Arapahoe). That place wasn't as friendly, wasn't great with kids (my then 5 year old annoyed them) . . .so after the free lesson we moved on. Then we tried Easton Centennial and it we have been going non-stop for over 2 years. Not only is my oldest still engaged and having fun, but my youngest has joined the classes They have a variety of classes by age. . My little one is in "Little Tigers" and my oldest son is in "Tigers" but could do advanced if we made schedule work. They also have a variety of adult classes (which we haven't done) One thing that has been awesome has been one of the coaches (Jamon) who has been nothing but great. . This doesn't take away from the other coaches though. They also have some great events my kids like such as Ninja Night (with Nerf Battles) and give us a chance to hit land of sushi. This gym has been phenomenal for my child. She started about 10 months ago and she wants to go every day. The coaches and desk staff are endlessly patient, really love and care about these kids, and they are very committed to our kids' health and safety, especially Drew. I have felt completely confident letting my daughter go for a fun day at camp or a Ninja Night, because I have seen how well she is cared for here. Besides technical skills, my child has learned how to lose gracefully, which is a huge accomplishment for her, and she has learned that other trusted adults besides her family can help her when she's scared or sad. This is an amazing training center. Let's start with... I am a novice. When you walk in the door, you immediately feel the camaraderie. It is a large studio with multiple classes. In my first class, they started with an introduction to the studio just prior to my class. I was shown the studio and how to perform forward and backward rolls. Once class started, during the warm ups, I had one of the instructors, Shalane, right next to me explaining and walking me thru the different exercises. It didn't stop there. My favorite, absolutely place to fight and get trained on all things Jiu-Jitsu!! So badass, you wake up and you feel empowered to do anything- really, anything. The courses are intense, the training is very fast paced, hardcore and yes, you use a lot of core power. They don't leave you hanging and you really build that relationship with your master and your fellow fighters. The space itself is very widespread and there are lots of punching bags, mirrors to keep yourself in check and see how much you can put effort into yourself and shaping, sculpting yourself to become the best you, that you can be. Classes are moderately priced, of course the uniforms have to be purchased and it requires lots of self discipline. There's lots of people with many different backgrounds that come in. Easton Centennial has become part of our family. We have 3 of our children who train here and our children love it! They are constantly asking if I can take them to class or compete in tournaments. The coaches are extremely approachable and truly want your children to thrive. It's so much more than a martial arts class. Their "mat chats" apply practical everyday lessons that our kids can apply to there everyday lives. Their staff is always helpful and open to any questions or concerns you might have. Both of my kids attend Jiu-Jitsu classes at Easton and they, as well as I, love it. He teachers are excellent, and they promote self-confidence in the kids. Classes are focused Not only on the move for that week, also on how to deal with bully's, which is an awesome skill for kids to have. My little guy, three and a half, got really frustrated in class today. He was getting "squisheded" by the other kids in class and just couldn't hang. I sat with him and talked to him for a while, but he still really wasn't interested in going back on the mat. I eventually talked him into telling the coach what was bothering him, and one of the coaches, a 3-stripe purple belt, spent almost the whole class sitting with him on the mat off to the side while the other coach ran class. Coach talked to him, got him to relax and open up, got him laughing, got him working on some movement, and even got him excited about the next class and working hard to get better The second class was like night and day! My little guy was in there, listening, working hard the entire time. It was so awesome to see, and such a testament to the type of program they run for kids. For the last two years, i've trained at Easton. I love being part of the community . Everyone is incredibly supportive and friendly. I'll turn 46 in August. And from age 31- 44, I had trouble sticking with an exercise regime. Ironically, fitness training is my profession. However, I needed something I really enjoyed. My kids and I have been training for years at Easton and we missed it terribly during quarantine. Since they have reopened, Easton has done a fantastic job making parents and students feel safe and comfortable. They have a temp and Covid questionnaire check in before anyone enters, hand sanitizer is everywhere (kids are actually given sanitizer as they enter) and the mats are cleaned after every class. I was also so completely impressed when Easton bought easy to wear masks for not just their staff, but their students. They just offered them up, free of charge. Easton is also one of the few businesses I have seen completely take care of their employees during Covid. While many companies have put the bottom line first to the detriment of their staff, I watched Easton do everything to retain, pay, and keep in regular contact with all the coaches. I am extremely proud that my kids and I get to be part of the Easton Family and love supporting a company that cares more about people than profits. read more

Matt is very nice, but the owner doesn't seems to care about what is going on... I was charged a "freeze" class fee for 2 months ($90) without being notified of this charge. When I discovered the charges, I called the school, and they promised a refund. However, they only refunded for one of the 2 months fees. I called many times to make sure they process a refund correctly, but they only promise to do it within next few days, but never processed it. I filed a credit card dispute 6 months later (after multiple attempts to receive a credit for unauthorized fees they charged) which they then fought. Dishonest and unethical management... Needless to say, we pulled our kids out of this school... read more

We were looking around and got lucky enough to call the Centennial location, we spoke to Matt who was very encouraging on the phone, he offered us a free class, we went in, talked to Gigi, and signed up! Easton's Centennial is hands down the best Jiujitsu program in Colorado. I consider this place a second home for my son and myself. All of the Professors and coaches absolutely love Jiujitsu and the really go out of there way to provide a safe and non-intimidating atmosphere to learn in. Once you walk through the doors you are automatically treated as family which is very important when looking for an environment to raise your kids in. The kids program is second to none with multiple high level competitors that compete on the national level and win. Professor Vellore dedicates himself to the kids program as if all the students were his own children and has a vested interest in each and every one of them. He is truly an irreplaceable asset when looking for a coach for your kids sports and life development. Professor Ethan and Rossie Snow head up the adult program which provides a safe and competitive learning environment that focuses on technique over strength. The two of them are consistent competitors on the national level and know what works and what doesn't and have ability to help you implement a winning game while providing a safe, fun and family type atmosphere. There are anywhere from 2-5 Black belts and several high level brown belts on the mats at any given time to help dial in technique and theory. At anytime you can find serious competitors to your casual hobbyist on the mat to train with depending on what your goals are for the day. I truly cannot sing enough praise about not only the level of instruction, but the environment in which it is taught in. I never write up reviews but I felt I owed it to the academy. I've been a member for over a year and I can honestly say it's changed so much about who I am in a positive way. I chose to start training in jujitsu because I wanted to try something different and immediately became obsessed. However, what has truly blown me away about Easton is the community they foster and it's what truly drove me to write a review. As of today, the school has been closed for over a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it plans on being closed until at least April 30th, but out of the blue, I received a phone call from the head of the Centennial branch, Professor Vellore, simply to check in and make sure things are ok with his students and to see if there was anything he could do or help with. I've never experienced any service like this before and I'll be Easton for life because of it. read more

At 51 years old, the prospect of training in such a physically demanding sport left me wondering if it was a good idea compared to just going to the gym. Once I got started at Easton, I realized very quickly that I had made one of the best decisions of my life. This summer I found myself traveling to Centennial, CO. Wanting to continue my training on the road, I Googled "BJJ" and located two clubs which seemed promising. Due to a family conflict, I was not able to visit the first club I contacted. However, I was pleased with my trip to the Easton Training Center in Centennial. The ETC just moved into a huge new facility, conveniently located off of Arapahoe, a major street. The club -- which is divided into separate spaces -- allows for simultaneous classes, including Kickboxing (conditioning), Muay Thai, BJJ, and Kid's Martial Arts. The atmosphere at ETC is friendly. When I contacted them on my trip and told them that I was visiting the area, they just asked me to come in early enough to sign a waiver. Unlike the one other club I've visited so far on my travels, they did not charge me a floor fee (yeah!), and they even lent me some boxing gloves for my Muay Thai class (I HAD brought shin guards, wraps and a mouth piece on my trip, so I was not totally unprepared.) ETC has a few black belts, with Professor Amal Easton receiving his black belt from legendary master Renzo Gracie. The two nights I attended, I was taught by Coach Max Madorsky, a young amateur mixed martial arts fighter who trains out of Easton Training Center Centennial, and Coach Isiah Wright, who teaches both Gi and No-Gi BJJ. My first class was taught by Coach Max, who has his own interesting story (http://eastonbjj.com/news/2015/max-madorsky-mma-saved-life/.) Despite his youth, Coach Max was organized and taught with confidence. During our Muay Thai class, we worked on some combos, and then focused on the "Hoost", a movement made famous by the Dutch fighter Ernesto Fritz "Mr. Perfect" Hoost (99-21-1 record.). The Hoost is executed by making a forward jab with forward only footwork, a cross (with no footwork), a shovel uppercut to the flank (made while bringing the rear foot forward to come into a normal stance), and finally finishing with a rear round kick. Finally we did some open rounds in which I took the opportunity to spar with everyone in the class. My most nervous moments were my two rounds with a huge German guy named "Arno", who was a good boxer despite having done it only for a few months (he had however done Tae Kwan Do for 30 years.). Despite some good hits to the face, I didn't wake up the next day with a headache, so "Arno" didn't hit too hard. Good job and I mean that. I returned the next day, in time for the No-Gi class. Coach Isiah Wright was the friendly instructor who taught us a hip throw, simplified for the white belts on the one side of the room, and then with some extra details for the colored belts on the other side of the room. We also worked on side control ending in an armbar. Then we divided for some rounds of open sparring, and Coach Wright was my patient partner. Whether that was because I was the newcomer, or the only woman white belt, or because I was the oldest person in the class, I am still not quite sure. Coach Wright gave me some reminders about using technique rather than strength, and then I managed to eke out an armbar from triple threat (still not quite sure if he allowed that to happen.) Then I had some other rounds with some young men in their teens and it was time to go. All in all, very friendly staff and students, and nice facility. When I came to Easton BJJ I hadn't really done any form of martial arts, and for the first several months, the idea of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu scared me. My fears of any type of contact martial arts were compounded by the horrible physical condition I was in when I first became a member. I'm a computer guy, I'd spent several years sitting at a desk for several hours a day, and avoided any type of physical activity because I had horrible back pain. I felt so fragile and was so sore after nearly every class I took that many times, sometimes every week, I went to the coaches to explain how I wanted to quit and that I didn't think my body could take this type of training. At no time did any of the coaches make me feel that was the case; they consistently offered nothing but words of encouragement and never made me feel they wouldn't do anything other than motivate me to continue training and improve my physical and mental fitness. Five years later, I can't say enough about Professor Vellore Caballero, the facility he manages, and the coaches and staff at Easton BJJ. Above all, the facility is very clean and well maintained; training space and equipment is cleaned and sanitized daily. They have a phenomenal program for children, which ranges from imparting core values of respect, discipline, self control, and confidence, up to and including training and coaching state, national, and world champions, of which they have many. While my kids don't yet attend Easton BJJ, they've already fallen in love with Coach Isiah, and despite only infrequently accompanying me to the gym, they recognize and hug him as soon as they see him. I wouldn't hesitate to confidently enroll them in the kids program here in the future. Professor Vellore and all the coaches of the kids program love each of those kids like their own, and they tirelessly commit to their development. Head Instructor, Professor Ethan Snow, brings a vast amount of knowledge, energy, motivation, humor, and discipline to every class he teaches. I certainly appreciate the amount of preparation and motivation it takes to successfully plan the content of every class -- including warm up, stand up technique, and BJJ -- then impart that material every day, every class, over and over again. Despite having seen certain techniques many, many times over the years, I feel that I'm constantly gleaning small details through his meticulous instruction that tighten up my game and continually make it more effective. Above all, I feel safe when I train here. I'm a computer guy by trade, a father, and a husband. I'm not a fighter, and it's likely I never will be one, although I feel if I ever told any of my coaches that I wanted to be a fighter, none of them would tell me that I couldn't do it, they would instead do everything they could to make that happen. The same is true for a number of other people that train here as well. Regardless of whether the person is a man, woman, older, younger, weak, strong, timid, or bold, Professor Vellore, Professor Ethan, and all the coaches have cultivated a family of martial artists who care about each other and make each other better. I'm very passionate about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, I truly feel that there aren't any restrictions on who it's for, who can study it, and that everybody should be given the opportunity to enjoy it and have it change their lives the way it's changed mine. I joined Easton Training Centers two days after I moved to Denver in 2016. At the time of my move, I had been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) for about 8 years. I had belonged to a great academy and team in Chicago, so I had some anxiety about finding a new place to train. I need not have worried! Easton Training Center is an excellent system of academies in Boulder and greater Denver. Easton provides quality instruction in BJJ, kickboxing/muay thai, and fitness. I currently belong to the Easton Centennial academy, and I cannot be happier with their professional, expert instruction and the welcoming student body. I'm in the best shape of my life at 50, and I enjoy training and socializing with the many friends I have made in the 3 years I have trained at Easton. I cross train at the other academies (it's a great perk as there are no fees), and each of them are great. My wife started BJJ at Easton recently, and my daughter recently started kickboxing. The staff are really nice. The classes and the space are well organized. Everything works like clockwork. When you're a beginner you have the prospect of being "invited" to one of the more advanced classes, which gives you something extra to work for. Do not take your child here! When I dropped my child off during the Brazilian Ju Jitsu class my 10 year old was choked out and hit in the lip. His lip was busted and bleeding and he was hurt pretty badly. As you can imagine that day he didn't want to finish the class after his face was all busted up so he asked if he could call his parent and the coaches refused to allow him to call me! Instead they gave him a 20 minute lecture about how he's a quitter. The coaches never told me about this incident. Instead my child comes home sad and scared to go back. Eventually after asking for several weeks my child finally told me what's been going on that the gym after I drop him off and leave. So, I go up there to ask about this incident and they come up with a million excuses of why my child wasn't allowed to use the phone to call me. Beyond this incident there is a serious bullying problem at the gym. When my child was being verbally bullied and he told the coaches about the on going incident the bully was still allowed to participate in the class and instead of distancing my child from the bully he was instead paired with his bully that calls him demeaning names. My child was forced to fight the bully so at this point my child is being bullied by this particular child verbally and physically at this point. They say they teach the kids to practice black belt techniques and to be a black belt partner meaning you don't purposely try to hurt someone only practice the moves; well when they partner up the bully with your child so the bully is fighting your child and purposely busts your kids lip it's all a bunch of lies in my opinion. They are protecting the bully in this situation. My child was bullied by this particular child for months and the coaches did nothing to stop it. Instead they force him to fight this bully that's verbally abusing him and when he's face is all busted up they tell him not to talk and not tell his parents and won't allow him to call us. If this isn't enough my child then tells me that at one of the Halloween party the kids were discussing why they don't do sleep overs anymore. During one of the sleep overs the coaches didn't watch the children cause they slept in another room so in the middle of the night one of the little girls had her panties pulled off and was touched in appropriately by one of these bully's that they allow to run the gym. So the coaches allow the bully's to sleep right next to the little girls and they have their clothes removed by these bullies and groped. The place is just not a safe environment for kids. So many red flags about this location there is no way I'm taking my kids here ever again. After I told them we are leaving and we feel unsafe they had the audacity to call my kids quitters and said if they didn't keep coming to their gym they would quit at everything in life even college, lol! They pressured us for days saying we should just force our children to keep coming to their gym. And not allow them to leave. It's the parents choice not the child's, really? Why should I force my child to go to this gym? So that my child can be verbally bullied, molested at a sleep over, or purposely beat up by the gym bully cause he is purposely paired up with this bully when training? Just stay away it's not a safe place to take your kid and especially never ever ever drop your kid off. The coaches and staff don't care about the welfare or well being of your child they only care about the bottom line and they want your money and will pressure you to keep your child in regardless. Thankfully they were forced to kick the bully's out of the gym that took off the little girls clothes and panties, but the other bullies are still allowed to attend the gym. We have been part of the Easton Centennial Family for almost 4 years and LOVE every second we have been involved with the team, coaches and staff. Our son Devlin trains anywhere from 6-10 times a week at Easton Centennial. He has gained so much confidence and shows respect for everyone around him. This is NOT a boring place to train, in fact our son has joined up with the team on charity events trips, team building, has made amazing friends and the coaches are a huge part of his life, every last one of them. He started competing because of his love for the team, Easton and the sport! They have helped "D" to reach his potential and in fact, work very hard with ALL of the kids in all aspect of their training and life! The coaches ALL open up their personal lives, facebook pages, instagram and personal cells to encourage a family feeling at Easton Centennial! They have a game plan for training and mat chats and post the plan on a weekly basis. Yes, they are VERY strict with the art and behavior at Easton, but that is exactly why 100% of the families that have started with Easton have STAYED with Easton! The kids can come in unlimited, everyday but Sunday if they want to train for the same amount of money and the policies are made very clear when you sign up!
