I'm sorry, but something happened to this place for the worse! Maybe CU has upped their hotel game, but this place was underwhelming and shady. First of all, they want you to pay in cash. Not sure who pays for a hotel in cash, but if you want to use a credit card, they charge a 3% fee. This was never mentioned on their Expedia site. Speaking of Expedia, we get a special refundable $100 hold for incidentals. Only us. Really weird. They haven't updated their lights either so the area that they put me in looked super sketchy and super dark. There was also random people walking around and the hallways smelled like pot. The place is meh but the front desk guy (Indian guy) was not as polite as he should be. He seemed bothered that we asked for more bath towels, and toilet paper. The breakfast was greasy and not appetizing. Phones didn't work for room service. So we had to walk all the way to front desk. The room had a weird smell so it needs to be deodorized. So we had to use our own fragrance the last 3 days we stayed. He said there was a 4 towel limit. It was 4 of us girls and we needed 2 each. But they did at the end but they were bothered by it. Unfortunately we didn't have time to go to Pool which we heard good things about. We were ok with the beds but not with the sofa beds. The sofabed was not comfortable and it was old and had stains on it and they only give you one cover. Not bed bug protection cover bed sheet no bedsheets. Our school group has used this hotel for several years for an event held at the college. This was my 3rd year staying here, and will be the last time our school stays here! The hotel has deteriorated. Our group reserved over 20 hotel rooms. Over half of us needed room changes due to the following: strong room odors of weed/smoking, red/brown stains on the floors, and a large number were given rooms that were already being used by other guests! Completely unacceptable and scary! It had us questioning the security of this facility. After the changes, many were left with rooms that didn't have enough beds for their family. We normally reserve a meeting room for our group dinner. This year staff said there would be no A/c and it would cost $500 to use the room! The pool was closed "for refurbishing" - no visible construction and the pool looked in bad shape. The parking lot had a mountain of trash bags. Breakfast was inedible. Some of the other hotel guests had visitors come and go from their rooms all night and were actively smoking. There were random people in the parking lot hanging out in their cars. There was no staff at check out - only a handwritten sign to leave room keys on the counter - unprofessional and not secure! For the price we paid, there is nothing redeeming about this hotel. Would never stay here again. The area immediately around the hotel seemed very sketchy. Yelling could be heard at night, and people arguing. This used to be a nice place to stay while visiting the Champaign/ Urbana area. I have stayed there several times. In the past year, the place seems to have undergone a change in ownership. It has become run down. There is no longer a restaurant or bar. They used to offer guests a complimentary beverage at the bar for each night of the stay. No longer. The complimentary breakfast was not edible, rubbery eggs and hard overcooked sausage. When I checked in, the first room I was given already had occupants. After I went back to the front desk, I was given a second room, also occupied. I went back to the front desk and had to wait about 20 minutes for another room. Finally, I was given a room. Now, after a long day, my toilet will not flush properly. There was an old container of French fries in the freezer compartment of the room's fridge. There is trash outside, someone cleaning a food truck, and a loud party with people smoking weed. The building needs maintenance. My husband and his friends have reservations that we book 3 months ago. They got to the hotel today, Aug. 20,2025. He said the lobby was full of people trying to get there rooms, they all had reservations. He said they stood in the lobby for 1hr. He said the person who was at the desk he had to go check something but he never came back. After an hour of waiting someone finally came to man the desk. After 2 hours finally got his room after arguing with them they said he didn't have a reservation when he had the confirmation email in his hand. Was supposed to get 2 rooms with 2 king size beds. When he went in the room it was1 king bed and a sofa bed. That didn't have any sheets, blankets or pillows. They went to the restaurant in the hotel, ordered they waited 45 minutes for the meal the chicken was raw he said he threw the chicken on plate and walk out. There are a lot of very mad people at that hotel tonight. I'm pretty sure none of them will ever go back. He has booked the rooms for 4 nights. Paid $1500.00 dollars for the rooms. I really think they should all be given some if not all there money back. Be ready for alot of bad reviews. I personally would like to speak to someone in the head office cause if that's how your going to run your business, I believe you should get the HELL OUT!! When I arrived in Urbana for my 2 night stay, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice the hotel was. Though I had to wait about ten minutes to check in due to customers ahead of me in line, the check-in process was relatively fast. My double room was clean and I had no issue settling in. The bar was open and I was able to order an amaretto shot (which tasted great, but wasn't strong) and a Diet Coke. I later ordered a chicken Caesar salad and an amazing chicken sandwich and was pleased with both items. My room contained an abundance of towels and pillows, something that other hotels often lack. I had the ability to request no cleaning service for my time there for complete privacy. The bed was comfortable and the alarm clock was used to ensure I got up on time on Saturday for a planned event. My only issues were related to food: 1) It took a really long time for food ordered at the bar to come out and 2) the breakfast bar was only so-so. Regarding the breakfast bar, the eggs were good and I enjoyed the blueberries and yogurt, but there were no biscuits available for the sausage gravy and my sausage patty was terrible. It was greasy and not nearly dense enough, reminiscent of a sponge. Also, there were only sugary drinks available, orange juice and some other fruit juice. I had to ask for a cup of water, only to receive a room-temperature cup with no lid handed to me by a service worker. I stayed in this hotel many of years ago and it was always my children's favorite to stay in. I just recently stayed in this hotel and it was complete opposite. The staff were nice, but as far as the whole experience was terrible. Sheets were never changed only one towel in my room nobody swept or vacuumed before I stayed in this room. It didn't even look like anyone came in at all to be honest. When I asked one of the housekeepers in the hallway to get new linens, they told me that that's not how it worked in that the sheets were changed before I arrived, which was a lie. I will not be coming back and I hope the others understand that this is not the same Eastland suite as it used to be. And that is sad. read more

If I could give this place negative stars I would. The definition of Hospitality itself involves the words friendly and service. Instead, my wife and I left feeling insulted, sad, and just unsafe in thus property. If you want any semblance of customer service or be treated like a paying customer, stay away from this place. We both went to front to let them know what happened (4) Same night our key stopped working after coming back to property from going out. (5) Next day we came back around afternoon, and found there was installation men in our room. NO NOTICE was given at all that installation would be happening. Instead we came into our room with two people inside installing among all our private belongings (6) Escalated this to front desk which apologized for not alerting every customer. Accepted apology (7) For the second time, we came back later that evening and our card DID NOT work again The final straw was when my wife and I, appropriately as any consumer at this point should be, was irritated and approached the front desk to complain. The individual at the front desk that night, which REFUSED to provide his name, slammed a piece of paper about the installations when we brought it up and said in the most disrespectful way "Read This". That was the last straw and when we asked for his managers name, as well as his, he went to the back of the room AND IGNORED US. Keep in mind our keys still didn't work... therefore we were ignored service as PAYING Customers. Jay who I mentioned in the few good things about property, finally provided the managers name and also gave us a refund, and we immediately left the property. To summarize, twice our room keys stopped working. Installation was never told to us so we entered our room once with strangers among all our belongings. When we went to complain, the individual treated us with utter disrespect and also ignored us by going to the back of the room... with no resolution for fixing our keys. So essentially we were paying customers, and the gentlemen ignored us instead of providing service. If you can stay at one of the other properties that are more expensive, and deciding if it's worth it to try this place out... don't. This is my first and last stay here. The hotel is not full right now but very loud neighbors kept my family awake late. There seem to be people that must be living here as well?? There were only 2 towels for the 4 of us so we had to ask for more. The tv wasn't working and it turned out a cable wasn't plugged in when they came to fix it. The single most disastrous hotel experience I've had in fifty years. After making a reservation A YEAR IN ADVANCE and having our reservation reconfirmed a week before our stay, we arrived to find that there were no rooms available, and claimed they had emailed us informing we'd been relocated to another hotel. We insisted that our reservation be honored and were eventually offered a handicapped room. We had reserved a king so we asked about the bedding and were told there were two double bed. Not ideal but acceptable given the late hour. Turns out it's a single bed. Got on the phone with the front desk and were told there are no other rooms available. We ask for a cot. The front desk clerk doesn't know what a cot is. I explain it to him. He disappears for ten minutes and returns to say he thinks he can get us one. We cool our heels for forty minutes until a ratty dusty folding cot is delivered to our room. It obviously hadn't been used in decades and the latch was rusted shut. I eventually got the mechanism to release and it popped open to reveal an empty fifth of Jack Daniels that hat been stuffed into the crease of a mattress that was the thickness of a diner pancake. At this point we were done. We gathered our bags and got the desk clerk to zero out our balance. Even if we had to sleep in the car it would be better than that flea trap. Luckily we scored a decent last minute deal at the Beaumont Inn down the road where I'm writing this. So be forewarned. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

We paid over 300 dollars for a deluxe suite they said was big and it wasn't. We had a small party for my grand daughter who is 9 she had 3 friends plus me and my husband and daughter who is 4. It was around 6 We get a knock on the door from the front desk saying they had a 2 complaints from 2 travel nurses saying we was loud and was going to call the police but he told them not to. They should of called because there was a room full of people being loud yelling kids screaming loud music playing. People in cars with loud music also. While we were waiting to close on our home, we stayed here for about a week and half. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean, the pool area was very clean, the hotel itself was very clean and even the windows throughout the hotel were so clear and clean. The couch is disgusting and it's like sitting on the floor. Our neighbors were very loud all night yelling and playing loud Music. This is my families second stay at ES, the first time was last year and we had a great experience. This May my family and I reserved two king suites (not cheap at all during graduation season). I was never so disappointed! The smell of dampness in he rooms, burned out light bulbs, stained sofa, stained bath towels, kitchen towel with a big rip in it, noting to clean dishes with and nothing to use for the dishwasher, no forks, one spoon. The fan in the first floor bathroom had dirt and dust stuck to it. We went to the front dest asked for new towels, only room service had them and they would drop them off in the room along with a dishwashing pod, we also asked to have the trash taken out. The front desk person asked for me to write my issues down on a piece of paper he said he'd give it to the manager. Towels were left but nothing else. I brought the trash and my concerns to the front desk and I expressed my disappointment - I asked if the property had been sold or had new owners and I was told yes. Not only were the rooms dirty the person in charge of breakfast overslept and there were many of us wanting to grab a bite before the graduation ceremony. There was also an attempt to break into my car parked outside. There were people that I think living there having a cook out on the lawn with barking dogs - pretty sketchy. I do not recommend this place at all. Below average is the best I can give this place. It might be convenient but not worth the money at all. read more

Wow! This place is absolutely amazing for the price. I paid $68 per night for a very spacious king studio w/ full kitchen and dinette. They also have a hot breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and pancakes included in the price. Oh, and fresh pineapple too! Very average hotel. The staff is nice but unreliable. I was supposed to get a crib, but even after confirming it would be delivered, it wasn't brought down until the second night. The breakfast buffet was good and had a decent amount of variety. We had the two queen bed suite that had a sleeper sofa. The room was very large and had ample room for a crib and 8 panel play yard to be set up along with the sleeper sofa being out in the living room. The rooms were clean but the interior overall looked dated. It is a non smoking hotel but the whole second floor hallway smelled like weed when I checked in so obviously that's not strictly enforced. We stayed here for 3 Nights with 2 adults and 5 children and it was plenty of space. My biggest complaint is that there is NO ELEVATOR. The room we booked was on the second floor and my triplets are only a year old and our room type was not available on the first floor. Finding this out at check in was hugely disappointing as it was too late to book a room elsewhere at a reasonable price and it hindered the amount of traveling to and from the hotel I could comfortably do during my stay. I personally wouldn't stay here again until all my children are seasoned walkers but it's a great set up for adults and people without any physically limiting capabilities read more

I booked a 2 night stay here after being told by my friend that they have an excellent conference center. I assumed if one has an excellent conference center they will also have great rooms. I was wrong. My friend's idea of excellent and my idea of excellent are totally different. The room felt muggy, there were flies in the bedroom and the sheets did not feel clean. I did complain the next day when I was checking out about how terrible the room was. To my surprise they gave me a full refund and apologized for my negative experience. Will I come here again? The worst ever! I made a booking for a room over 8 months ago for my daughter's graduation at UIUC. I received a phone call requesting confirmation for the booking since there were graduation "changes." I called promptly and confirmed my booking. Several hours later I received a phone call from a Derrick saying that my reservation was cancelled because the hotel overbooked their rooms!! Imagine being told that less than a week before the graduation when every other decent hotel in the area was already booked! They gave me the option to go to a 2 star hotel instead. This is so infuriating and totally unacceptable! My guess is they gave my room to someone else so they could jack up the room cost. This is NOT the way to run a business! I showed up here in the middle of the night following a dropped reservation from a hotel up the street. The folks at this hotel were so generous and easy to deal with, accommodating me last-minute by fitting me into a room and being easy to deal with, patient while I was in a short-tempered state given the proceedings of my evening. The next morning (5 hours later), I found that the management of the hotel had been alerted to my situation (having a nearby hotel drop my reservation without properly notifying me, leaving me bedless the night before an important, early -morning engagement). Get this - the same lovely lady that helped me in the wee hours of the morning dropped a letter of invoice to me at my table while I quickly scarfed down the continental breakfast. Upon reading this letter, I saw that the management had reduced my bill (after one sympathetic reduction upon booking) to ZERO and had volunteered to take the reins in pursuing proper payment from the hotel I had previously scheduled at, the one that had dropped my reservation in the middle of the night! Very selfless and unnecessary, but so helpful. Thanks for the compassion. I will definitely stay here next time I am in Champaign-Urbana. Rooms are nice too. read more

I missed the deadline to register for my usual hotel for Dads Weekend, so had to scramble and found Eastland Suites. The staff was very friendly and it's conveniently located to campus as well as some restaurants. The rooms are actually converted studio apartments that show some signs of wear, but decent amenities. My room had a small kitchenette, sitting area with TV, fireplace and a safe in the closet in addition to a bed and bath. Water pressure in the shower was terrible and the tub was slightly cracked, but everything else was fine. Small restaurant with limited hours on premises and a shuttle that's very tough to book on busy weekends. Price to value was very good and it's a decent place to stay. There was BLOOD on my sheets. Not washed in blood either. When I called the front desk I was told it's unacceptable they will change my room. I said it's late (10PM) and asked if they could just change my sheets (I have a 2 year old, 10 month old and dog) they said no, we have to change rooms and the only one available was at the other end of the complex. Get to the new room and there was NO A.C. so my husband goes to the front to let them know and now they move us back into the other room and send my husband with fresh sheets so I could change them, mind you I have been traveling all day with two kids and a dog last thing I want to do is move rooms two times then have to change my own bed clothes. I've long heard the swimming pool at Eastland Suites was a great resource for our community members, offering water aerobic classes and lap swimming. Tonight I stopped by to look and give it a try before signing up for a membership. Mistake 1) getting my hopes up. Mistake 2) not using the restroom after I sucked down over half my mug of water before leaving work. Mistake 3) driving out of my way to get to Eastland Suites. The gentleman at the front desk was incredibly polite and accommodating. I showed him the letter my doctor wrote, encouraging me to exercise, and offered to pay a fee tonight to 'give it a try' as I understand I would be using the facility. He said they had no way to do that, and kindly gave me a keycard and directions to the pool as a test run. I was so very hopeful I'd love it and return after my laps to purchase my ongoing monthly membership. It was atrocious. I'm still dying inside 3 hours later. I must have been a fish in my previous life. I love water. All water. Okay, after tonight-most water. So it killed a small part of me to witness what I did. The locker room was the smallest, oldest, outdated, and filthiest room I've been in since that gas station restroom in Indianapolis on my "The Fault In The Stars" road trip to see "Funky Bones" in 2015. See #2 above; I had to pee like nobody's business, and was horrified to peek into the only stall and realize there was 0 toilet paper. It was then I had to flee the premise. I nearly ran to my car (a huge feat for me!), drove around and parked in front of the doors, and ran the key card inside. The kind gentleman immediately recognized me, and his face fell as he said, "How is it?" I placed the key on the counter, shaking my head while saying in my best Simon Cowell impression, "It's a NO from me!" I then informed him there was not so much as a single square of toilet paper and I was about to die, as I turned to leave. He did muster a "sorry" to my waddling back as I did my best to hold it in, while furiously wondering where I could find a sufficiently clean public toilet before my bladder erupted. Stayed here for one night. It's an older style motif, but well maintained (no peeling paint or ratty carpeting). Staff was nice and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was simple but quite good. Our room had a nice balcony with two plastic chairs. It was a no smoking room, but I imagine a Colorado visitor could sneak a puff or two out there. As is typical, the mattresses were well worn, but adequate for one night. I didn't have to resort to the camping mats I travel with to firm them up. I would stay here again for sure. read more

After a very long drive with kids and a dog, I was mislead by the booking site- I thought I was booking a "double room double beds" meaning 2 rooms with 2 double beds- wrong! One room with a toddler SUCKS. I was unable to pay the difference to upgrade the room because it was through the booking site. Front desk wouldn't let me borrow the wine opener after the bar closed at 10:00 because "the last person didn't return it" (ok, thanks for accusing me of going to steal it). They offered to deliver breakfast at a time of your choosing. They didn't deliver it and when we went to get it a half hour after our requested time, they didn't have half the things they offered. Now it's Jan1 and I go to pay my rent n it's declined cuz they never told me about this and their front office was not helpful. they claim they didn't hv a corporate number. their staff needs to be trained on informing customers of this because this misinformation is unacceptable. read more

I recently hosted a family reunion in my hometown of Champaign and we all stayed at ES. Conveniently located off 74 and Cunningham, it's very easy to and also get around town. We stayed in the Extended Stay 2 floor suite and it was PERFECT for hosting smaller gatherings. We piled all the cousins into the room for pre and post events which was a perfect setup. The way the unit is outlined is great - the kitchen & living room are right off the entry. The couch/desk was located between the living room and the bed area so it did make it feel like separate areas. It was a great place for us to all gather prior to going out - the kitchen table and couch were our main spots. Also great to have a bed where the kids could also relax on when we were hanging out. The upstairs area was great! Private and super room with a nice sized closet, vanity area & separate toilet & shower (same for downtstairs bedroom as well) Things I loved about Eastland Suites: The Staff - incredibly attentive, super helpful Breakfast - great for the pricepoint Extended Stay - VERY comfortable & great for business Pool - the kids loved it! My aunt stayed in one of the hotel rooms in the main area and loved that it had a fridge and room to spread out so the extended stay aspect The shuttle! The staff were SO gracious to us and we ended up using the shuttle several times during out stay Possible Improvements and Things to Note: The exterior of the extended-stay buildings need some cosmetic upgrades but don't let that fool you - the inside is solid! Would be great to have a gazebo or something in the large grassy area off the hotel patios/balconies The breakfast crowd varies between week and weekend. Do NOT book this hotel for UIUC Homecoming. My daughter and friends spent more than $1000 booking 2 King Suites months in advance. Only to have Expedia call just 24 hours before to cancel. Eastland claimed they SUDDENLY had renovations going on in one of their buildings. I called the hotel directly and the night desk didn't know of any such renovations. What's worse, Expedia blindly rebooked the stay at a dump of a motel at the same premium price - claiming it was the same caliber accommodation. Let's see.... We had 2 King Suites to sleep 6 people each, 12 people total. Equivalent to an apt, complete with fireplace, kitchen, patio and complimentary breakfast + free shuttle. The substandard motel gave us 2 cramped "King" rooms with a twin pull out couch - listed as a max occupancy of TWO. Most of the party had to sleep on the floor. No breakfast, no shuttle to campus. Have spent over a year disputing this with Expedia, with nothing but the run around from Eastland, obviously hoping we will tire and go away. Knowing Chambana hotel rooms are in EXTREMELY HIGH demand during Homecoming - it is obvious that someone offered to pay more for the premium rooms and Eastland defaulted on the existing reservation to cash in.
