We did have a negative experience with their sales person. When he came to our home to give us a quote, I made it very clear that I wanted all the old flooring removed so that all the flooring would be even and no room transitions/dividers. After I signed the contract and paid the deposit, he tried to say that we had agreed to have the new flooring installed over top of the old flooring in the kitchen and bathroom with room transitions/dividers. After a heated argument he finally said, 'I talk to too many people to remember who said what.' I'm still giving M&Z a 5 star review because the installers were great and we're very happy with the end result. Just make sure to get everything detailed in the quote before you sign anything or pay the deposit.

What is it with this company, it seems like it's a sad virus that comes from within, by reading the reviews for both this location and the Mechanicsburg store, their sales people must be trained in rudeness, and come to find out - the person "Doug" who responded to me is a VP!!!! No wonder they're struggling to compete in the market. At this point I don't even think I'd purchase puppy pads from them. Free would be too expensive for me to give them any business, no matter if I were referred to them or not. If they're like this before you buy can you imagine what they'd be like if you had an issue? We had a second floor and garage addition over 18 years ago from C & Z. Flooring installed in the second floor is still good after all these years and did not need to be replaced. This time around, I contracted for another addition to the side of the house and a kitchen remodel with other work being done to every single room in the house except for one. This was a huge undertaking. Hats off to the crew who did the first remodel as there were 12 people living in the house during that renovation; this time there were only 7 people living through most of the renovation (and a dog) increasing to 9 towards the end of the work. While the crew members changed over the years, Aaron Holbrook was present for both remodels. Trying to remodel and renovate around so many people was challenging and so we are grateful to Jonathan King, Patrick Smith, Ron, Anthony and especially Jason who almost single handedly painted the entire house. The crew had to work around all these people while installing cabinets, flooring, painting, ceiling tiles, framing, etc....The crew was flexible, considerate and courteous. I feel the overall cost of the project was fair for the amount of work that was done both inside and outside of the house. We will be contacting them again for future work.

You will not be disappointed. I had them put extensive draining in the back of my house requiring trenching plumbing and paver work to get it under an existing walkway. Had them install porcelain tile on my front porches, re-roof a rubber roof over the front door and build a decorative stone and concrete wall on the corner of the property. When it finally came time to do it, we started going through the process of trying to find the right contractor for the project. We spent several weeks researching until we came across Yorklyn Construction. Once we met Ben, we felt like the search was over. The advice, detailed thought he put into our plans brought a sense of comfort to us. The quotes were fair and where we hoped they would be. Starting with Ben, our experience fanned out to the rest of folks working for Yorklyn. Tom, who managed our project, was absolutely in touch with our thoughts as the project transitioned from demo to the "rebuild". He did a better job of "detail nitpicking" than I could have. From the beginning they stated it clearly, "we want it done right for you." They certainly lived up to that and exceeded it. The carpentry work with the cabinets they constructed all the way down to the floor thresholds / transitions were perfect, and I mean perfect. I'm sure a lot of contractors hold similar standards, but where Yorklyn pulls ahead is with how they treat your property, residence and your family. You become a bit more than a customer. To Whom This May Concern:…read more Typically, we are not people that post reviews. Oh, if we really don't like something we have been known to speak up directly to the company. We have to have very strong feelings to post in a public forum. After all, saying something about a person's lively hood should not be taken lightly. Often people are quick to criticize and slow to praise. We would like to change that. We have a house that was in need of updates and repairs. We also where in desperate need of storage. We invited several companies to come by and tell us what they thought and to give us a bid. Two companies that came by and told us the project was too big for them and no bid the project. Finally, it came down to two companies from the area, Yorklyn Construction being one. Yorklyn shot straight with us. They told us the truth, not what they thought we wanted to hear. The bids came in pretty close but Yorklyn impressed us with their candor and professionalism which gave us confidence that once they agreed to something they would meet their commitments. We were told that the process would be long (several months) and that we would basically be living in a construction site. Like I stated, they shot straight with us and it was a big project. Side note, they did everything they could to minimize any discomfort and were respectful that this was our home. We did have hiccup's but Yorklyn's staff and the sub-contractors where great. In a project this size there are hundreds of small decisions, but I can honestly say that everyone involved looked out for our best interests. If they thought we were making a wrong choice, they spoke up. For example, we chose the color of grout for the shower in a showroom. The tile guy put in the tile but thought we made a mistake with the color of the grout. He didn't just go and let us make a mistake. Instead he spoke up and brought it to our attention. He and the project manager discussed it with us and made suggestions that we elected to follow and are happier for that decision. We had a similar experience with their painter. Trust me things look different in a sample catalog or a showroom than in your house. I also wanted to say that their carpenters are great and their cabinet guy is amazing, very skilled and exact, a true craftsman. Our cabinets are just wonderful. We can also tell you that on the rare occasion that we did express displeasure, they made it right and when a problem was our fault, they were fair. Several of the Yorklyn staff and sub-contractors feel like friends. We have very warm feelings for these people. We have grown to trust them. Not only would we recommend them, we will call upon them in the future when we need skilled professional trades people. Often in business "quality "is defined as meeting or exceeding a customer's expectations, in our book, Yorklyn's work and the people that make up this company are the definition of quality. The home required extensive plaster repair. They were able to demo and skim coat de-laminated plaster walls to preserve the original look as well as repair cracked ceilings and walls for lasting results. They went as far as snaking the drains in the old house to improve toilet flushing and kitchen sink drainage. They were on time, the quality of their painting work was exceptional and unsupervised they left the job site clean and organized prior to the client's scheduled walk-through the following day. Well. Since they DELETED my review on Facebook and blocked me, I guess I will have to resort to…read moreother means. First off, I feel like we were pushed into signing the contract. It was a very "used car salesman" vibe from the beginning and my boyfriend and I should've known better. Red flags from the get go, like telling me we needed to sign in the next 3 days or he had to "build a whole house" and would take much longer. Despite telling T I wanted a fully custom bathroom, my original estimate was around 2500. After being roped in it was closer to eight. But this was the least of my issues. Completely inconsistent timing, "T" and "M" telling me so many lies they couldn't even keep up with each other. Showing up randomly, not showing up on days they said they would, and sometimes a complete lack of communication. In the end it looked okay... for a day or so. However now I have shifting tiles and messy groutwork in my mosaic bathroom. They also made a complete mess all over my house and left trash like open candy bars and McDonald's bags everywhere. Didn't clean up after themselves. I called complaining because not only did they NOT fill the holes in my drywall, but they didn't paint my radiator! Both of which I paid for!!!! The floor tile grout looks like crap now only a few weeks later. There were spacers left in it and it is stained? Probably because they busted a pipe in my sink and water exploded everywhere and they rushed to get it done when the floor was still wet. They never came back for detailing and let someone paint who left spots around the light fixture they installed. Didn't paint before they installed it... Why exactly? They sent someone to fix the pipes that were leaking after bathroom vanity was installed but I was told that Monday they would come and touch up the grout. Heard nothing from either of them, and then they blocked me on Facebook four days later. EDIT: The owner has contacted me and is coming to fix the messy work very soon.
