The play was quite well done and we enjoyed it immensely. Obviously, some of the vignettes were preferred over others, but all were done in the great spirit of Community Theater...and made for a very enjoyable Saturday evening "date night." The Theatre itself is a small, community one...and perfect for this type of play where the focus is definitely on the actors themselves and the interactions...bigger, broader ones may not fit in this relatively small place. We hired Atlanta Special Events to help us do a casino night for our company summer party this…read moreyear. Our summer party was held inside Gate City Brewing Company's private event space - similar to a large garage - in Roswell, a suburb about 30 minutes north of Atlanta. Gate City's space wasn't terribly big, so we had to be strategic about how many gaming tables we would be able to fit inside their space. We also had to account for tables for the food caterer and tables for guests to sit/stand and eat/drink. We ended up going with three tables: 1. Blackjack 2. Craps 3. Roulette If I recall correctly, Atlanta Special Events had five employees on-hand. There was one person at the blackjack table (dealer), two at craps, and two at roulette. The second person at the roulette table was sort of like the pit boss. He controlled the play money and dispersed it to anyone who asked. When it came to giving away money, there really was no hard and fast rule. If you ran out of money or simply wanted more money, he'd give it to you. At the end of the night (our party was a three-hour affair), everyone cashed in. The folks from Atlanta Special Events counted everyone's cash. Each person received a ticket with their name on it and the total amount of cash they ended up with for the night. Our company gave away prizes to the top five money winners. I think each of us started out with $200-300 worth of play money and our ultimate winner, who I believe won by a landslide, ended up with tens of thousands of dollars. He did it by camping out at the roulette table. The event staff was dressed formally in white or black shirts with bow ties. I noticed a sixth person arrived towards the end of the night to help the crew pack up the tables and depart. The game tables and chips were good quality and there were even coasters for us to place our beverages on. Everyone looked like they were having a great time and I heard nothing but positive things about the games. Several people told me they had fun. If you're looking to do a casino night for your party, I recommend these guys. Atlanta Special Events also offers other games like murder mysteries, provides various forms of entertainment such as DJs and singers, and they even handle events like grand openings and weddings.

This time around, my experience was such a positive one! To start, the plushies were more consistently stocked throughout all the machines! You can tell that they were well-kept and were continually restocking the plushies. Second, the pay-out on these machines were updated to make all players feel like winners(on both the small and big claw machines) Regardless, if I felt like I was ever on a "bad streak", it seemed to end relatively quickly. I felt JOYFUL as my dopamine levels spiked, every time I saw a plushies fall into the hole. Third, I felt like a kid again! The hostess was funny during the preshow and the shadow cast did a great job. I really liked the prop gags they did during the movie that I haven't really seen at other productions. However, there were several cast dispersed around the audience yelling lines from what seems to be a mix of the more traditional audience participation script and one of LDOD's own organically grown quips from 25 years of shows. From what I could understand of what they were saying, it was funny, but they almost never yelled together in a comprehensible way so I couldn't understand about 70% of the jokes, and the dead space of the movie that offered the best time for the audience to actually participate and add they're own jokes was saturated with the cacophony of the cast. Unfortunately, overall, it seemed like the joke barkers were more worried about being loud and playing for they're own cast and friends than they were for the audience at large and didn't take into consideration a more coordinated effort to be understood. I feel like it would be more effective if the group of encouragers were all next to each other so they could hear each other and make their words more understandable. Also, while it's not standard, it would probably go a long way, if able, to add subtitles for the movie so it's more accessible to first timers and hard of hearing.
