Their office is conveniently located near my house and right across the street from the Grasslands Kroger and Blockbuster. It's not a huge office, but it's clean and inviting and they have a coffee/tea maker and sweet treats in the lobby. On my first visit I was warmly welcomed and given a free goody bag with a mug, candy and some BioFreeze samples. After filling out a thorough new patient form I met with the chiropractor who asked lots of questions and told me what I could expect during treatment. Then he took 2 x-rays of my back. The receptionist is very nice and made me feel welcome every time I walked through the door. Dr. Meininger is also really nice and always made pleasant conversation as he adjusted my back. When I arrived early for my appointment a few times, the receptionist let me sit in the massage chair in their therapy area while I got to watch a DVD on their flat screen TV (instead of waiting in the lobby). Hopefully my back pain won't return, but if it does I know where to go!

Instead, I showed up, was place in a room to watch a 45 minute video on my condition. I had been through orthopedic interventions already and also did my own homework on my condition, so most of the video I already knew. I was ready for pain relief and was deeply upset. After the video, I was given a book to help with my condition. I thought that was cool and went home. Literally, what little invention I had during this hour+ visit included an evaluation of my walking gait, a couple of pokes "does this hurt?" and a quick adjustment the included pulling on my legs. No tools used etc. Fast forward to today. To watch a long outdated video, be "given" a book and a couple pulls on the leg I was billed $226.00 (including $25 for the book that was "given" to me. No one said I would be billed for that.) I am not happy with my first experience. If anything I feel insulted. While I watched a video, she was just racking up the dollars. She may be an expert in her field, but billing practices need to be addressed. I was charged less for my actual injection from a medical doctor that DID relieve pain for a bit.

Appointment times may take a little longer compared to other clinics, but this is because each the physical therapist at Gainesville Physical Therapy spends time with every patient. Samantha is probably our favorite for massages and I do like Sherry as well. Rebecca is amazing for reflexology. The staff is nice and there is a nice little front sitting area to sit in while you wait for your appointment. They have some skin care to look at as well as some shirts but nothing too overwhelming to take away from relaxing. They did do some room expansion recently and so the rooms seem a bit smaller but still comfortable and a good experience. I have scheduled a facial so I will need to report back on how it was!

Acupuncture was something recommended to me for a loooong time…read more I was afraid and it seemed a very unusual treatment, also, did it work? So I just didn't go. It was just too different for me. And needles? Are you kidding? (Actually that made me kind of curious, how does it work?) But my health got pretty bad and I was willing to try anything to feel better. I started trying acupuncturists in the big city... I kid of lucked out, the third person I saw... wow! She was amazing. I saw her for years. Those visits healed and changed my life. I couldn't believe I had waited to long to try it, there were such profound results available to me after just a few visits with someone great. So I kept it up, she kind of became my therapist, life coach, doctor all in one. I was very happy and told all my friends who were interested in acupuncture. (Who agreed, so I have some credit here on knowing a good acupuncturist when I get poked by one.) Unfortunately, I had to move too far away for visits - I could no longer see her. In my new location, I started searching and searching for someone as good. I tried several acupuncturists, and the experience was... okay. Sometimes even very strange. And one, kind of terrible, to be honest. But I wasn't going to give up. I knew how much wellbeing there was possible, I knew how good it COULD be. After two YEARS of looking, I found Julia Shengaout! This acupuncturist is one of the best in the country-IMHO! She really knows what she is doing, is caring and listens. I have been a patient for a long time and she is stellar. Her insight on acupuncture points, her bedside manner and her administrative perfection are an incredible combo that is truly rare. If you are considering acupuncture, or considering traveling a little further outside your area, she is worth it! It's a dreamy cloud of rest and relaxation and I feel amazing every time I visit her. I'm so grateful that I found her and I want to save you time searching for someone else and also tell you, the time in these sessions is a gift to yourself. It is deep care. And it might seem unusual at first, but the rewards are INCREDIBLE. I rely on acupuncture as part of my overall care for many years and over that time it has helped me with asthma, allergies, back pain, joint pain, depression, stress, anxiety and worry, etc. It's not just the acupuncture itself, it's the whole visit, the realization, the consultation, the advice that is given and it's a very holistic approach to wellness. I have let the sessions feeling hopeful, happy and yes... blissed out. In the middle of the countryside is one of the best acupuncturists around. GO. If you have the opportunity, schedule a few visits. It's a cumulative effect and it really becomes a safe haven to have this special time/space for recovery and exploration. I have been having pains in my leg due to schwannomas (nerve sheath pressing on nerve itself). The…read morepain would happen at odd times and could be quite severe. Advil didn't help much, and I did not want to use the strong stuff. Finally I decided to try acupuncture. I am not comfortable with the needles, but apparently Julia has light hand. I almost didn't feel anything. She pinned me with several needles in my leg and my arm (what does arm have to do with it?) and left me alone for about 20 minutes. Then I left and did not think about the treatment for several days. In several days I realized that my leg hasn't been hurting! For the next month I forgot about the pain. After about 5 weeks it started coming back a little, so now I plan to go for another visit.
