This park will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Franklin later this year, and they have been sprucing it up considerably. It's a great place to take a walk, and there is a walking tour with signs noting significant items in the history of both the battle, and Franklin in general during the Civil war.
If you are into birding the park has a decent Bluebird population, and this year a nesting pair of Red-tailed Hawks among other critters flying around there.
A "getting there" note, your GPS will probably tell you to turn on Carnton Lane. Do not believe it, there is now an entrance right off Lewisburg Pike, with a sign and everything. The old entrance on Carnton is now a dead end. read more
