Absolutely abhorrent service. The first two times I went for a procedure they had to do the procedure a few times. The process was not seamless. Dr. Patel was my dentist. I was given a very temporary tooth that feels uncomfortable. Of course then I would feel upset when they changed my appointment for a permanent tooth to an additional month. They got mad because I didn't want to wait for a month with a temporary tooth. Definitely couldn't recommend. Also customer service is disgusting. read more

On June 18, 2025 (Between 9:00 am to 9:45 am), I visited the dental office for my routine Invisalign pickup. My Invisalign treatment has been fully paid for since 2023. Upon arrival, I was informed by a front desk associate from the billing department that I owed a balance of $584.50. I politely informed him that my treatment had been paid in full since 2023. After checking his records, he confirmed that I had no outstanding balance for my treatment. However, he then stated that I owed a balance related to my 23-year-old daughter, who has not yet returned to complete her root canal treatment, and is covered under my insurance. As a medical professional, I was alarmed by this disclosure, as it constituted a clear violation of HIPAA. He openly shared details about my daughter's medical treatment and associated billing without her consent. I asked whether the office had made appropriate efforts to contact her directly (e.g., phone calls, text messages, or emails). He confirmed that only phone calls had been attempted and that no text or email communications had been sent regarding the overdue balance. Out of courtesy and professionalism, I explained that I am a licensed medical provider and am aware that patients cannot be denied treatment due to another family member's unpaid balance. I further explained that withholding my Invisalign trays would compromise the progress of my treatment and potentially undo prior work. Despite this, the associate refused to provide the trays and denied me service. This experience was both frustrating and concerning. I was denied medically necessary treatment that I had already paid for in full, and sensitive health information about my adult daughter was disclosed to me inappropriately. I've been rescheduled since oct 2024 to see their periodontist - I was made to switch my primary dentist to their office first in order to be eligible to see that perio. Turns out he's on medical leave - why would You take new patients? The "fill in" dr also just canceled my latest appt bc "it's not his primary office" somehow that's my problem. Office manager has an attitude - he acted like he did me a favor to adjust a balance on my account that was charged in error. For an "exam" I never scheduled or asked for- more like when I came for my cleaning no one knows why you're there or what they're doing do they just stick you in a chair to be "checked in" and you have to listen to the tech BS his day away. Wish i could give zero starts. Awful. Waiting room and bathrooms are filthy. There was blood in the sink and underwear clogging the toilet bowl. Front desk is so unprofessional they've made me cry. I was made pay for my crown prior to getting it then they canceled the day before my appointment (an appointment i scheduled a month out) with no reason. I found out the dentist i was using on this tooth (who insisted i must return to her) was transferred and they basically told me too bad. They then wanted to Reschedule my appointment another month out knowing I'm already 30 weeks pregnant and that's the week of my due date. It's taken me my entire second trimester to do a single root canal and crown. After basically being told too bad and being HUNG UP on TWICE i got in touch with the Office manager. He got me in with the dentist on her last day the next week. I showed up 5 mins before my appointment and am now I'm writing this review from the filthy waiting area while a wait (so far it's been over 40 mins past my scheduled appointment). Horrible! Left still in pain. I could have went somewhere else but they were being money hungry. They told me they had emergency slots but once I got there I was told to sign a form that they might not be able to do certain things. Then they said I was due an examination so they were changing my emergency appointment to a full examination. Long story short I left with no help for my pain and no intentions at all. The office manger was very rude with no compassion whatsoever. Just a waste of time. I was used to collect a quick check and sent home. They told me they didn't have time to work on me. So you didn't have an emergency appointment. The office stated, that a was diagnosed as if I was a car n my pain didn't matter. I ended up requesting a release form because I'm never going there again. They told me to schedule for a fill-in that takes 20 minute. After they made me come there For an emergency visit. read more

Dr. Eric Segall was good and did his job well. My first pair of retainers from him fit perfectly without any adjustments needed. However, a few months ago I had a new dentist since he does not work there anymore. She took my impression, then gave me retainers. The top retainer was too tight and there was a small gap at the bottom. She just told me to bite down on a plastic tube instead of fixing the issue. You cannot force a tight retainer to fit properly. I had gum inflammation but idk if it was related to the tight retainer. She said it was good since my gum was inflamed and just to check with the periodontist. read more

This has been my families dentist for years and I have no real complaints. Everyone is nice, particularly Kevin who is always pleasant, humorous and will talk a bit of sports with me before reviewing my chart. Doctor comes in and does the same which is good because I myself and am sure many others don't particularly care about going to the dentist. Dr. Grober is always pleasant and answers my questions if I have any. The hygienists are nice too and everything flows pretty rapidly even when it gets packed. Of course slower the more people there are but all things considered it isn't too bad of a wait in a pretty spacious waiting area. What I like is if you don't have dental coverage, they will try to work with you offering discount dental plans that offers two or three visits/cleanings for a flat rate. Parking can be a bit of a hassle especially if you come on a busy day like Saturday, so you may need some patience there. If you're needing a dentist though, give Eastern a call. read more

Full review I sent to the Dentistry Board in 2022. Was waiting to hear back from them..a process they said can take over a year. I cried over an hour after this procedure just from the treatment I experienced. This is not ok. Dr. Ferretti-oral surgeon 3/8/22 No consideration was taken to ease discomfort or even avoid stupid errors like cutting my tongue by mistake while doing the suture. I'd gotten my left wisdom teeth out years ago with a surgeon that I'd experienced no discomfort/ pain past the injections, and that took his time. This was a rushed, unprofessional and sloppy surgery by someone who was just trying to finish his bookings for the night. I am concerned for how my mouth will heal and if this was done with minimal damage to my gums or surrounding structures. I had a 4PM appointment and was called to the back around 6PM. I remember going up to the desk when called and some guy looked at me and asked the lady "That's Leah?". Found out later he was my surgeon. A lot of patients were being seen that day and the doctor had remarked to his assistant "only 4 more after this one". I wasn't told who my surgeon would be until in the back room with the assistant. When he came in, he didn't state his name, ask questions, or explain what was happening. He came in with needle in hand and started injecting the numbing. He only remarked once that one inside injection might hurt some more. I was left for awhile while the numbing kicked in and could hear him talking to another patient being wrapped up. He later asked if the numbing had kicked in and I said yes and he walked away and I asked the assistant "how do I know if it's kicked in? I just feel swelling." She said swelling is normal. I was going to ask him to check when he got back, and upon entering he checked and proceeded to forcefully pull at my upper wisdom tooth very quickly and while holding my head taut a few times. I kept being told to open my mouth wider and no one held my tongue out the way which proved to be an issue later. After the upper one was out he worked on the bottom and this is where the rushing made things worse. He tried that same pulling and tugging action adjusting/holding my head for a bit. I felt like a rag doll. Then he went in with the drill very rushed and he complained my mouth was closing and stopping when with all said and done I was trying to hold it open my best. When he finally started digging the tooth out I could feel some of the pressure and some pain/discomfort. When putting one suture in the bottom, he kept cutting my tongue surface when trying to cut the string. I asked if soreness was normal this soon.He did not slow down once. I was obviously uncomfortable and nothing was addressed. I had to ask for a pain medication subscription as it wasn't offered to me. Was just initially told to take 3 Advil. Ultimately I think this man only took about 10 minutes on D7210 and D7240 extractions. When the assistant asked if I was ok post op, I said no. I told the assistant it was intense and very rushed and I'll have to stick to smaller offices from now on. Dr. Feretti was at his cubicle and could hear me, but I had nothing to say to him. I'd gotten my left wisdom teeth out years ago with a surgeon that I'd experienced no discomfort/ pain past the injections, and he took his time. I know this was a rushed job with no consideration for the patient. Dr. Ferretti has several complaints on sites such as healthgrades and web MD, but I can't research a doctor Eastern Dental doesn't tell you you're getting. The worst service I have experienced. If I could give the service negative stars, I would. Let's start by the ladies at the front desk specifically in the orthodontist department: extremely rude, dismissive, unprofessional, and lack customer service skills. The ladies at the front desk along with the orthodontist does a horrible job with scheduling appointments appropriately. They are unorganized with managing appointments. The appointments are not a fast turnaround. Expect to wait six weeks or more before you're given an appointment for a simple work. I had a list of appointments scheduled for Thursdays with Dr. Siegel only to receive a text message advising all appointments were canceled. When called to reschedule (good luck with getting someone right away) I was told appointments are now on Wednesdays and given appointment dates three months out. Arriving to my appointments three months later only to find out my daughter will be seeing a different dentist. Throughout the duration of four months of receiving services the appointments weren't scheduled punctually and service was horrible. Molding was done to install device that did not fit initially. Had to do the process twice. Once device was installed attend weekly visit, told device was working and to return within 6 weeks to install braces. Arrive 6 weeks later only to be told nothing will be done on that visit. Very frustrating to be told by the dentist one thing about your next appointment however upon arrival told it's not the same information that's put in the system. When you show up for your appointment expecting work to be done that was told to you by the dentist on the previous visit and it ends up being something else (nothing being done). Waste of time taking days off from work to ensure my daughter get to these appointments on time. The manager is of no help and when inquire as to whom to complain too I was told the director. However, I was flabbergasted when she told me there are no contact information whether via phone or email to contact the director to make my complaint. I terminated service immediately. read more

I have been going to Eastern Dental of Union for over 8 years. Although it takes months to get an appointment and you're usually not seen until a minimum of 45 minutes after your appointment time, I've continued to go to this location because Dr. Grober is amazing. Back in 2014, I had to get two of my wisdom teeth on the left side extracted because they were impacted. Therefore, I was not shocked when the same pain started on the right side in April of 2021. After repeated calling and leaving voicemails, I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Grober on 5/18/2021. He recommended they be removed since it would likely be an ongoing issue. I was elated when I finally got the call on 6/21/2021 that my insurance had authorized the procedure and there was an appointment available the following day, 6/22/2021. I arrived for my appointment alone just as I had for the last procedure. Since my first extraction went so smoothly, I felt I knew what to expect. I whole heartedly regret that decision. This was by far the most traumatic dental experience of my life. Dr. Ferretti came in to numb my mouth and it felt like he just stabbed me with the needle. Every other oral procedure that I've ever had that required anesthetic never hurt like this one did. The dentist would shake my cheek or manipulate my lip while administering the needle. In my research, I learned when the dentist is shaking your cheek, he or she is trying to overload the "highway", thereby blocking the pain of the injection from reaching your central nervous system. I did not get this treatment from Dr. Ferretti. He started with the top tooth and told me I would feel a lot of pressure. There was pressure, but we got through that tooth just fine. When he started to pull the bottom tooth, I could feel pain not pressure and I told him that. He gave me another shot of anesthesia, asked if I could feel the needle. I told him that I could not. He then tried to extract the tooth again, but I was still in pain. I moaned and tapped his hand, but he continued to pull. Once I was about to get out of his grasp I said "Sir, you have to stop if you hear me moaning." His response was "No I don't have to stop. I don't know what your moaning means." He asked if I was ready to try again, I told him I needed a minute. He slammed his tools on the table and said "let me know when you're ready, you don't have to do this if you don't want to". While he was out of the room, I asked his assistant if there was another oral surgeon on duty; she said there was not. I immediately felt defeated and began to cry because I knew what was in store for me. Thinking there was nothing I could do, I just decided to take the pain because I needed the tooth out. I felt so vulnerable and started crying. When the assistant saw me crying, she handed me some Kleenex and started talking to me. When Dr. Ferretti returned to the room, I began to shake uncontrollably. He said I was only making it worse on myself by getting upset. I had to bare down and take the pain and it was worse than I could ever put into words. Once the tooth was removed, he asked if it was just pressure or pain. I told him he showed me zero compassion while he was ripping my tooth out so do not pretend to be concerned now. We passed words and began to argue, I grabbed my purse and walked towards the exit. He followed me and told a staff member to make sure I can never come back to that office and asked the receptionist to call the police on me. The office manager saw the argument and said the doctor had every right to call the police on me because of my behavior. Meanwhile, she never addressed his behavior towards me or even offered me an apology. There were two other female patients who saw me in distress and came to my aid. When I shared my experience, they both decided to leave and said they were not going to get his chair. I left that office in tears without so much as an apology for the way I was treated. I had to sit in my car for another 20 minutes just to compose myself. The next day even sharing this experience brought me to tears. While writing this letter and reliving this experience, I am traumatized. I have never in my life been man handled and treated the way this person treated me. He treated me like I was less than a human being with feelings. I am writing this so no other person has to experience the treatment I received. It is unfair how I was treated and I am shocked and appalled. It is my intention to find a new dentist and I will never return to that office. I'm hopeful that something can be done about this situation because I wouldn't want anyone else to go through this experience. read more

Today, I went in for a routine dental check and cleaning. I had an appointment at 9:30 and did not see anyone till 10:45? I ask the receptionist what was the problem. I did change insurance and informed them this over the phone. They called and verified I have coverage. The office staff has to do a better job than what I experienced today. It appears some of the regular staff was out on vacation I imagine. This could be the reason who knows. Went for an initial evaluation because I have work needed to be done, and watched two receptionists verbally berate a patient who came into the office to ask about a bill she had received. It was so inappropriate I thought I was being pranked. I was finally seen 45 mins after my appointment time, and told to wait in waiting area to be called to discuss options. Waited for an hour (we're now at 2 hours 20 mins after appointment time) to talk to staffer about next steps, and was informed she'd have to check with my insurance company and they'd call me. Two months later and several calls from me and they will not call me back with more info. So back in August I had this sudden pain in my jaw, and I could barely open my mouth. I immediately make appointment at the dentist thinking it was my wisdom teeth . It turns out I was grinding my teeth and the Dr suggested a night guard. i Sat down with the financial department at this establishment and was told I had to pay 276.10 out of pocket before I could get fitted for the device. I pay. I was fitted on 8/13/2022. Today is 10/3/ 2022. I realized that no one from this office has contacted me in reference to the device. So I decided to pop in after I tried to call and no one answered . I was immediately put in contact with the office manager Carolyn. I really don't know why this company would hire such a rude, loud , unprofessional woman. She immediately approached me and tried to tell me I didn't get the device b/c I didn't pay, then it was u don't have insurance, then it was well have a balance again. I'm sure she violated every HIPPA privacy policy because she had no regard about yelling all of the information into the waiting room where everyone could hear. I referred her to the woman in the finance department who I dealt with ... and guess wat Big mouth Carolyn was loud and wrong . She went to the back and guess wat the device I was fitted for was there . So basically it had been sitting there for weeks without a call from the office to inform me it was ready. I asked big mouth Carolyn why I didn't receive a call to follow up, to pick up the device and she got even louder and more rude . At this point I tried explain to her that she has been very rude and loud , and I also inform her that she has violated my right to privacy by speaking in a manner that informed everyone in the waiting room of my personal business. If I could give 0 stars, I would. Had to have two extractions, one due to a cap that snapped off. Dentist, Dr. Patel, failed to wash his hands when he moved from the patient in the adjoining cubicle to me. Let's be clear, changing gloves without washing your hands is unacceptable infection control practice, especially when clearly dealing with blood. I explained prior to start of treatment that I was fearful. Nevertheless, the dentist explained nothing, failed to wait for the topical anaesthetic to work before stabbing me with multiple injections, and did not stop when I twice stated he was hurting me. When I returned home, I noticed, as well, that I have a cut in my upper lip where he smacked my face, rebounding from pulling so hard on the lower tooth. The final straw was having to explain my concerns to the regional manager in the waiting room in front of other patients, rather than being brought into a private area. I have tried to schedule my family for a cleaning service, they will not allow more than two family members at a time, I have been going through this issue with this center for so long, and I always say to my self next time will be better, but this time the front desk employee had a very nasty attitude on the phone, she raised her voice at me when I called the office to see if my child can be seen at the same time that they have scheduled both my wife and my appointment, keeping in mind my child only 16 years of age and he can not go to this center on his own, yet they have ignored this fact. When I went to my appointment on 12/30/2019 , it was raining so I got to the office late 15 minutes, they said since my appointment was at 9:45 and I got there at 10:00am they can not see me but the will honor my wife appointment since it was at 10:45am. I said to the front desk employee I would like to speak to the center owner, she stated you have to speak to the center manager and she will handle your problem, I did not know I was a problem, I thought I was a guest for that center all a long, but I was wrong, the Manager (Carolyn ) was not on her desk, in which you can see her desk from the other side of the counter, she call my last name and " what's wrong" keep in mind this is the center manager talking now. Anyway I asked the manager whom I did not know her name nor she have introduced her self to me, when she asked me what's wrong, I asked her is it the policy of this office to yell at your customers when they call to check on their appointments, she said no why? I said when I did call this morning to see if your office has scheduled my 16 years old son to be seen today, your employee yelled at me and she said I told you your son can not be seen today. The Manager which until this moment didn't tell me her name, stated that the front desk employee did not yell at me otherwise she would've heard it, and I told her to tell you you can bring your son for checkup and Exray only but not for cleanings, I said to her how would you hear her if you were not on your desk all the time, I just asked to speak to you and you were not on your desk, if you do not mind d I would lime to speak to the owner of this center, she said I will give you the corporate phone number, I said that's fine I'll take that number, she brought a yellow paper with the (1-800-982-5529) but with no names, I have asked for the employee name, she returned and wrote her name and the employee name. This is by the worst dentist office I have ever been to. I scheduled an emergency appointment because I needed my wisdom tooth taken out. I got an appointment for 1030. I waited an hour and a half before I could be seen I was told I had to make an appointment for Tuesday, which is the only surgery day that they have available when I went to the receptionist to make an appointment The appointment that she gave me wasn't until the end of the month and I could not wait that long because I am in so much pain because of the tooth and I had expressed that to the doctor and to her as well. She was able to put me in for another day, which is only two weeks away, which isn't too bad. I also was given a prescription of antibiotics and pain medicine until my appointment to help with the pain. The medicine that I was provided was penicillin , which I am allergic to, and I had told the receptionist I even wrote it down on the paper that I am highly allergic to penicillin . It wasn't until I was handed the prescription from the financial lady and she asked what I was allergic to, and I told her Penicillin and that's the medication that the doctor had provide me. I'm going to assume that the receptionist didn't give the doctor my chart, or at least didn't even acknowledge that I wrote down penicillin if he had known he wouldn't have made a mistake like that and prescribed it to me. This place overall just put a bad taste in my mouth. The employees were rude. They act like they hate their jobs, and that they did not want to be bothered. from the outside looking in. Seems like they are not enough staff and not enough structure. Everyone is all over the place they need to take their time and help out every single patient. read more

Didn't get seen because the office team lacked the decency to give me a call about mot receiving everything that they needed from my insurance. EVEN THOUGH they called me THREE times to confirm that my appointment was set and I was all good to come in. After my insurance tried to get in contact with them, while I was sitting in the office, they left them on hold for over 15 minutes. It's sad because the office was hardly busy and I was RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM seeing this all. Please manage the office better, I didn't even get a chance to see the dentist. Eastern Dental in Union NJ was recommended by my Union. I've been a patient for years. The quality of customer service has changed over the years. It's extremely hard to get a basic exam and cleaning appointment. It's scheduled about 3 months out. I arrived about twenty minutes early for a 4:30 pm appointment, I had both my x-rays and exam done and it took a total of 15 minutes. While waiting for my cleaning at 530pm the Front Desk Manager comes and tell me they close at 6pm so I will not be able to get my cleaning. The manger stated she didn't know why the two hygienist were both running behind. THIS OFFICE had no respect for my time at all. They had two hygienist working. There's no reason that I was there twenty minutes before my appointment, waited patiently and couldn't get my scheduled cleaning done. I understand issues come up, but it's the lack of communication and the nonchalant attitude to just reschedule was unacceptable. I will be looking for a new office. Eastern Dental has so many patients that they make it clear they don't care about losing one. read more

This is the worst dental experience ever. We were forced into this awful practice. They are never on time, it takes months to get an appointment and you spend HOURS in the waiting room. And by hours I mean 3 hours to just get a cleaning. They actually held my 10 year old daughter down when they were performing a procedure on her as she was crying and saying it hurt. Then, they didn't finish the procedure and sent us on our way. RUN as fast as you can from this place. read more

Dr Maldonado, Vinus and the staff are always supportive and efficient.

I want to rate zero, but no zero option. Service is terrible, long wait hours more than an hour wait to be seen. Setting an appointment is so difficult. They will give 4 months away . Ladies in the front are rude, especially the one that sits for orthodontist clinic. Orthodontist doesn't smile to the patients, my daughter is afraid of him. read more

I have been a patient of Eastern Dental for over 15 years. On Saturday, January 28, 2023 I had an appointment for a filing. I expected in to be in and out without incident. A doctor named Dr. Princey performed the procedure. I have never in my 64 years experienced such unprofessional behavior from a dentist. The dentist immediately told me to sit down in a very haughty and nasty manner as I was proceeding to take off my coat, scarf and mask. I asked nicely if I may continue. Yes, she said and then sit down. Then she proceeded to berate her assistant as to how he was to bring me to the chair and sit me down. After she left the patient that she was with she demanded that the assistant was to clean up and come back to her immediately. She called for him in 1 minute and asked of he was done. He said no. Then she told him in a nasty manner that he was not as efficient as the others and he needs to listen to what she was telling him. 1:30 pm was right around the corner and she needed to leave. All during the procedure she berated the assistant. It was awful to witness. I felt so nauseas, I could have thrown up on her work. Then, towards the end of the procedure she told me not to swallow because she did not want saliva on her filling work. I was about to scream in terror. When she was done she asked me to tell her if I could bite down and whether it was good work. I was numb to the touch. How could I tell, what happened to bite paperwork. Is it no longer used? She became very angry and told me that I needed to try. At that point I asked her to let me up and told her that she was extremely rude, condescending and spoke to people as if everyone is dumb and beneath her. This doctor needs to be required to take communication classes, she is an embarrassment to the profession. When I left, one of the other doctors hugged me and walked me to the door because I was so upset, I was shaking like a leaf on a bush. I did go home and threw up due to the unorthodox manner in which I and the assistant were treated. read more

Be careful with this guys. They give horrible service. We are not able to get appointment to fix my sons braces for the last 4 months. The management changed and looks like a these new guys are taking us old patients for a ride. worst ever service. Pls dont even think of using their services. read more
