I'd like to give a rating of "0" stars, but unfortunately that is not an option. I'm sharing an experience that my 19 year old child had at Eastern Dental, Flemington, with Dr. Robert Restaino, so that others can be aware if you are considering a visit, or if you had a similar experience with a new patient visit. My child has been seeing our family dentist, 2x a year for more than 15 years. They recently went on a university offered dental insurance, the family dentist was out of network, so we decided to try Eastern Dental as they are in-network. Apparently understaffed, we waited 45 min. before my child was called in. After about 10 min. of being in the waiting room, I joined my child and the dentist, and walked in as the dentist was giving the assistant verbal instruction as to issues with my child's teeth. The dentist neither acknowledged me or introduced themselves to me when I entered. I asked for layman's terms once he seemed to have completed his assessment: 9 cavities, 7 beginning cavities, and an opaque area along my child's gum that he recommended be reviewed by an oral surgeon. Dr. Restaino gave his remarks rapidly and without concern. My child and I were both shocked by his overview and also by his candidness, mind you, we only have 32 adult teeth. Once the treatment plan and billing was done, we went straight to our longtime dentist, alarmed, we showed him the information we were provided. He showed us X-rays that proved that the "cavities" were divets that my son has had for many years that did not go into the dentin, they are not "cavities", they are characteristics of my child's teeth, with the exception of one small cavity.The opaque area on the x-ray was a shadow. My son then proceeded to have a cleaning, because I was questioning everything Dr. Restaino had done. I normally do not write bad reviews, recognizing that experiences varies. However, this was exceptional in that I truly feel people need to be aware of the practice, whether it was lack of knowledge of my son's teeth/history or if they were attempting to profit. Had we followed their treatment plan, we would have spent at least $4,000, and more importantly as we learned from our regular dentist, damaged his teeth for life, creating potential for many root canals. Fortunately we could get a second opinion from a reputable dentist that we've known for many years that saved us from a horrible trajectory of dental work. If you do visit this dentist and receive a treatment plan, I suggest that you seek a second opinion from a reputable/trustworthy dentist. We will never recommend or visit this clinic again. read more

Very unprofessional constantly when it comes to scheduling, personal information, and respect. I do not recommend this as an office for ur family, especially larger families. They confuse family members specifically with confirmation phone calls, not realizing who they are talking to confirming appointments. Therefore creating unnecessary confusion and no accommodations were offered.We were not given an option to reschedule. Not to mention the front desks uncalled for attitudes. As well as other issues with the doctor that are just as unprofessional and unpleasant. All around my entire family of 7 does not recommend what so ever. read more

I went here for the first time for a cleaning and will definitely be going back. They take my DeltaDental Dental Care USA. When I arrived, the office was clean and spacious. I arrived 15 minutes early to my appointment and was seen almost immediately to get x-rays. The dentist was very personable and answered all of my questions. My hygienist Anna was very thorough and got my stained teeth sparkling white. When I got home my husband was so impressed saying how exceptionally clean my teeth were. This office is 30minutes from my house but I'll be returning. read more

This place is horrible. They had three staff at the front office when I walked in and each time I spoke with Casey, the other two (Jessic* and Jessl**) would stare at me like I was an alien- and quickly look away when I look up. What's wrong with you people? Why do you act like I'll jump over the counter and bite you? What are you so afraid of? I'm just an average person, dressed normally, smaller stature than both of you. I won't bite you, people! Thank you- not- for making me uncomfortable. It worked. You should be proud of yourselves. The wait was super long and when I got to the back, I could hear the dentist discussing patients' treatment plan two rooms away. The patient needed a root canal. Ouch! She looked worried (yes, I could see her from my room). Another patient needed braces. So long, privacy. Doc, please keep your voice down and minimize the jokes. read more

Went to Flemington Eastern Dental. Such a nice group of people there. Everyone was friendly and prompt. This will be my new dentist.

Worst experience ever and would never go back. I called initially to request just a cleaning and was told ok. After filling out reams of paperwork and waiting over 40 minutes I'm told I must also have an exam. The dental assistant was rude and had an attitude.....as did the dentist....which resulted in me walking out after wasting 65 minutes. read more

I tried a dental plan with my health insurance. I made an appointment for a cleaning. I don't reccomend the Flemington office. Yes it was clean, I got proper x rays, & a cleaning. BUT the hygienist was very rough. I raised my hand & said to him "Ouch that hurts. Can you please be more gentle. " His response was "You should use Sensidine Toothpaste. " I told him "I do. I have been using it for years." My teeth & gums hurt that night & the next day. Not normal. The woman who took my x rays was very annoyed & I could sense she didn't want to be there. Not friendly at all. The dentist bearly asked me any of my dental history & blew off my concerns (small or big). I won't go back. So I'm going right back to my old dentist. I am been coming here for more than 7 years and now bring my children. The dentist is professional and has a relaxed, fun demeanor with my children which helps assuage any stress they associate with the appointment. Eastern Dental has been trying to bill for services provided by a company they haven't owned for over a year. I have been informed by Brighter Dental, the company who provided the services and is under new ownership, that Eastern Dental has been fraudulently billing their customers based on old records. Brighter Dental confirmed I have payed for the amounts that Eastern Dental is seeking, yet Eastern Dental is threatening to send me to collections. This kind of harassment is a disturbing example of how medical institutions use collection agencies and credit institutions to beat average citizens into just submitting to their fraudulent demands. If they want my money, they should go get it from Brighter Dental, as I've already paid it. read more

I originally came to this practice because it is the preferred office for our insurance through my husband's Union and the benefits are REALLY good. This is the only reason I left my old dentist, who I was with for the past 30+ years. So of course I was nervous and didn't expect to be happy. Well I have been so very pleasantly surprised. The office is clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I think Dr. Restaino is fantastic! He explains things well, gave me options, and did really great work on my post and crown. The dental hygienist was also great; I wish I could remember her name. I do not dread going to the dentist now, and that is really saying something. I will definitely be staying with this practice, and would recommend to others. read more

I have been going to eastern dental for over 10 years. Recently they have become a disaster. Inconsistent with hygienists, some are not good. The last straw was when they billed me for X-rays that my insurance wouldn't cover. I will be finding a new dentist. read more

Dr. Restaino fixed a crown for me and will soon be working to replace my last original stainless steel cap. I am a very nervous dental patient and Dr. Restaino has a sense of humor that definitely lightens my mood and makes everything seem a lot less "scary." Everything went smooth through the process of this first tooth. Eastern Dental also has a great program to help folks like me, who don't have dental insurance, save a bundle when I need a lot of major work. Their equipment is state of the art and my son Hunter will be scheduling an appointment with Dr. Restaino in the very near future. read more

I wish 0 stars will be an option. One star is too much. After waiting more than 5 months for a dental appointment, 2 of my family appointments got canceled the same day of the appointment without the possibility of rescheduling for another 4 months. Not only a major inconvenience, but also a substantial economic cost, since I'm not going to be able to use my dental benefits before the end of the year. Customer service was not only rude and nasty, but also is the first time I experienced cursing and profanity from a professional office. Unfortunately I can not recommend this practice to anyone and will definitely never reschedule my appointments. You lost 5 patients. read more

I, like most people, was incredibly nervous about going to a new office when my dental plan switched. I must say from my first cleaning to my first cavity fill, this office and their staff have been fantastic. I know there are many negative reviews online which terrified me but I can honestly say I enjoyed both visits so far to this dental office. On my first visit Serge cleaned my teeth like no other and made me feel completely comfortable the whole time. I will only ask for him!! The staff at the front desk were friendly and answered all my questions. Today, 9/14/15, I had to get my first cavity ever filled and Dr Reddy made the experience a pleasure. I am a severe needle-phobe and they did everything to make me as comfortable as possible. I did not even feel the needle!! Dr Reddy's assistant during the procedure was also very pleasant and comforting! In my opinion as someone who has always hated the dentist, this place has totally changed my opinion! I want my teeth to last forever and I have to take extra special care of them. Serge at Eastern Dental has been caring for my teeth now for years and my smile is great. Serge is kind and respectful as well as the best dental hygienist I ever had. Serge is always punctual and never causes me any pain. The dental assistant Nicole is also very helpful too. I used to really like going to Eastern Dental of Flemington. There are still some excellent employees there: the office staff are on the ball and courteous. Hygienist Serge is top notch, personable and skillful. Dr. Maldonado handled recent dental issues with skill and good bedside manner. I liked Dr. Schwarz, who I believe retired early. Recently, however, things have changed. If you are interested in going to a place where one of the dentists refers to a powerful woman in government as a c_ _ t on his public Facebook page, and one of the assistants calls one of the practice's patients a c_ _ t on Facebook, then this is the place for you. If misogyny is a value of yours, you've come to the right place. I took the high road, notifying Eastern Dental's parent office of these improprieties over six weeks ago, but not hearing a peep back from them I can only surmise that misogyny and patient disrespect are their corporate values. read more

Excellent dental work but awful people. The dentist is condescending and talks down to his staff. Hygienist was completely disengaged and clearly didn't want to be there. The dentist's assistant that worked on my emergency procedure should not work with the general public. Clearly the staff is following the leader. It's really too bad because Dr. Sumner Schwartz is talented but too many choices out there to give my $$$ to them. read more

I've given this establishment so many chances. I wanted this to be my dental office as it is so conveniently close to my house; not even five minutes away and they accept my husband's insurance and everything. Actually, the hygienist there is excellent but the head Dentist is the absolute rudest medical professional I have ever encountered in my entire life. Talk about arrogant and condescending; there is no patient/doctor partnership in this client/doctor relationship. He is a dictator when it comes to what treatment solution is right for you and he does not appreciate your opinion; even if it's your mouth, your teeth, your gums. If you don't decide what he suggests, he jokingly and passive aggressively becomes more and more condescending and downright rude. He totally talks down to me like I'm a 5 year old. Like he's totally leading the witness making any other option insanely ludicrous. Every time I go there I declare my blood pressure rises exponentially and the anger I feel is David Baxter changing to Incredible Hulk like. I'm done. And to think, my son's Orthodontist hinted that this was not a recommended office. Obviously he too had heard complaints about this establishment. Today was my last time I'll ever patronize this place. I would prefer to pay out of pocket rather than go there and have this pseudo professional who obviously failed the bedside manner test look in my mouth again.
