The staff were helpful but were slow to communicate and did not go above and beyond for us as first time buyers. Kind of disappointing. I figured our mortgage would get sold to a bigger lender/bank so I guess it doesn't matter in the long run but that aspect of this whole process is what made it the craziest/most stressful.

As a follow up to my previous review:…read more I was quite happily surprised to have a senior level customer service representative contact me to apologize for my bad experiences with Cambridge Savings Bank. Jennifer was extremely professional, intelligent and very apologetic. I explained that I really want to keep my banking business with a local bank, and not a monster like Bank of America, but I simply can't do that with such bad experiences like a non-working ATM card while overseas, or a mediocre online banking system. Jennifer and Cambridge Savings Bank have since set the standard for customer service: they have offered to reimburse me for any costs that I incurred as a result of the ATM card not working. They also explained the problem with the online bill system. Since our conversation (within the last 2 weeks) they have added a feature to the online bill system that is at least a step forward. She also explained that a solution will be coming soon. Assuming the online bill problems are fixed, I will stay with Cambridge Savings Bank for a long time. They have awesome rates, great benefits/perks, such nice people (and they had snacks!). I've been trying to convince everyone to change to this bank haha. Since this one is a new branch, they are having a promo and you can sign up I think until April, and their interest rate is literally double what i was getting at my old bank. They also give you $15/month towards ATM fees. Their own ATMs are free, but if you went to like a Bank of America, they usually charge you. Well, that's what this $15 is for, it will cover those fees. Oh probably most important is the 1% cashback every time you swipe. Amazing. Of course, there are a lot more benefits but it may change from branch to branch, these are just some of the ones at this branch. If you are wavering with your bank. definitely switch to this one. And even if you're not wavering....look into this. You will probably like what you see! :)

Occasionally you get an employee that is less efficient and that's frustrating, but overall they are nice. Size wise- avoid the small country side like locations (say... Concord) as they are not so efficient and don't really understand the urgency and then do be old school regarding customer experience (customers make the effort, branch staff's time is too important to show any flexibility or willingness to 'work' with a customer).

I went in to open a new account and ask about 3 trillion irritating questions (I'm a pill like that). The gentleman who welcomed me - Chandra S. Tibrewal - was very friendly, though he had no idea that I'd made an appointment (I'd used the online appointment system, don't know if that matters). The banker who worked with me - Joel Cambridge - was fantastic. Very friendly and personable without coming across as flirtatious or fake, plus he answered my 3 trillion questions without acting annoyed at all. He was very informative, helpful, and patient, which I really appreciated. It's my understanding that Mr. Cambridge may be moving to a different branch, and I'll miss working with him. I'm looking forward to working with others at this bank, though. So far, so good - not what I was expecting with a large bank. I was pleasantly surprised.

I ended up going with Logix bank who approved me in a heartbeat with my 850 credit score. Something is not right at this bank and I would strongly recommend staying away from it.
