It looks my my experience at DCU was quite different from other Yelpers, but the man who helped me…read moreyesterday was extremely helpful: I have an account with a credit union in Washington DC, and I kept my account after leaving my job on Capitol Hill since it was an automatic membership forever. I use that checking account for small bills and transfer $$ in when needed from my other checking account. In a hurry to pay a bill that was NOT small, I used that account and it did not clear. Yikes. At 10:30AM on New Year's Eve day I raced into DCU with cash so I could make a deposit since they are in the "shared network" of credit unions (which I don't understand, but it's awesome). This bank is HUGE (as is the parking lot out front) and while there were a lot of people, there was no line. I wish I asked his name, but he was late 20's/30's, dark brown hair with a beard (my receipt says Operator No 6619). I explained my problem and said I needed to make a deposit, and the other problem was that the account number on my checks isn't exactly the "member account number". WTH? He clicked around for a few minutes and solved my problem for me (I felt so stupid) and did the transaction for me. I am so grateful since the day started off with a $30 bank fee from my bank for the stupid mistake. There are only a few banks in this small network available to me, but DCU was close AND had parking. If I have another crisis, this is where I am headed!

Used to be great. Now they're nuts. If I transfer money from another bank to DCU, they put a hold…read moreon it of several days. Why on earth they think that other banks won't honor their transfers... I'm sure they just wanna keep the quote on my money. Anyway, pulling my accounts from here

Well.. again, I really hate giving low reviews, but people need to know what they're getting into…read more 1) Actual location. I think they're in the midst of renovation, so once the final product is out for delivery, I'll update this review. Until then, this place is sketchballs. It's basically a trailer. Literally. There's a ramp that goes up to this steel box. I'm not sure how comfortable I'll ever be leaving a deposit with this particular branch - I can already picture some guy coming to this place in the dark of the night with one of those fire torches and easily melting a hole into the place. Yupp. Not leaving my money here. 2) Citizens service in general, for me at least, has been really bad. I only use them because my family used them and I've always found it hard for me to close a bank account. Note, they do have an ATM here, which is great when you just need some quick cash or need to make a small deposit (small, because it'll probably be stolen) without wanting to have any human interaction whatsoever. They also have a very small and limited parking space in the back, but I would deter you from going if you have trouble parking or aren't the best driver - it's like playing bumper cars out there.

Would give a zero star review if I could. Cash was…read moredeposited into a closed account in my name by mistake. The teller told me it was on credit only hold and couldn't give me my money back. She called the corporate office and said it could take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours to unlock the account I told her I had to get to work and asked her to call me when it had cleared. She agreed. I got a call 10 minutes later when I got to work telling me that the account has been unlocked and I was all set. I drove back to the bank, a different teller said that he couldn't pull out the funds and called the corporate office again and spoke with three different departments. At the conclusion, I was told there was nothing He could do. I spoke with the assistant branch manager and asked if she could approve the funds withdrawn since it was my money deposited with cash and there was no question about the validity. She told me that only the branch manager could do that and he wasn't there. I asked when he would be in and she said "maybe tomorrow but he's been calling in sick a lot lately She then said that since it was a closed account they have to issue a check in it could take up to 15 business days. Absolutely the worst customer service I could ever experience. They are basically holding my $2200 ransom and everyone seems to point the finger at someone else. They used to be such a good bank, not anymore. WORST BANK EVER. STAY AWAY FROM CITIZENS BANK!!!!!!
