After completing a medical form I was sent upstairs to a private room. Stephanie came in and went over what I was wanting to happen at this session. She is very calming and explained everything before she proceeded with the needles (which did not hurt). I was more relaxed but overall I did not notice a big change after the session. However, the next morning I woke up and did NOT have that awful sick feeling in my stomach from chemo. It was completely gone!! My stress level was way down and I had slept so much better. I have continued my treatment even though my chemo treatment has ended to help relieve my neuropathy in my hands and feet. I wish more cancer patients took advantage of this wonderful treatment.

Every doctor I ask just wants to cut me open and put metal next to my spine. I am dead-set against this and have been looking for just someone like Rebecca. I knew she was out there, because I am here, and I was looking for her. She did the suction cups on my back, which was one of the most amazing experiences my back has ever had. I am still feeling the wonderful effects and the relaxation now. The acupuncture was also a miracle, in that after discussing my issues with Rebecca, she knew exactly the points on which to focus, and my tension and muscle spasms have decreased exponentially. I now live in NY and was visiting my parents in Northwest Indiana. What a joy to have found Rebecca in the netherlands of the Midwest. I thought NY had all the brilliant people! Rebecca called me the day after my treatment to see how my body was reacting to the treatment. She recommended I follow up at her Alma Mater in NYC, the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine of NYC. I have an appointment on Monday. Rebecca is a jewel of a find, is passionate about her profession, and clearly loves to help people feel better. She was upset she could not work on my body in order to do more to fix me. As it is today, I do not feel like I need surgery now. The relief is so profound. The muscle tension has abated and the spasms have retreated. I know there are structural problems in my neck and lumbar spines, but with this type of treatment, drugs and surgery begone! I am so relieved not to be intimidated into getting surgery! Thank you, Rebecca, for taking the time and having the expertise to help me through my conundrum! I can see your love for what you do and that you have studied hard to acquire this knowledge. Well done! And thank you for your effort!

I just worked in the yard for a couple hours for the first time in 8 weeks and feel no pain!! In…read moreJuly, I completely threw my back out, to the point that I could hardly walk, and it had grown weaker as I did things to push it in the years leading up to this. An MRI told me "flat tire between L3 and 4 and nothing between L4 and 5," (lower lumbar). Spinal surgery (NO), cortisone (NO) or pain meds (NEVER). After my visit to the hospital in May (that offered nothing but about fifty co-pays and a "healthy as can be" in every way diagnosis), I decided to try alternative medicine. Based on a YELP recommendation from the typical "guy," admitting that he didn't think it would help but went to pacify his wife and basically skipped out an hour after his first treatment, I decided to try Alternative Healing Works in Dyer. My journey started 7 weeks ago, and I have waited to write till now because I wanted to be fair in my assessment. For the last seven weeks, I have taken Chinese herbs, gone twice a week for acupuncture and performed acupressure myself, three times per day, according to the practitioner's assessment and instruction. In my first session, he asked if I wanted to relieve my symptoms or--by restoring the flow of energy--allow my body to heal itself. After the medical year I have experienced (I also broke my arm in Feb and had the worst case of vertigo in my life in May), I told him, I want the full Monty. I have followed his advice--all of it--religiously. And I have never felt better. In every way: physically, intellectually and emotionally. I feel like I have freed my spirit. You must take me with a grain, here. If you know me, you know I'm a little wacky (by choice), but my body tells me what it needs and always has (which is why I never get sick). It told me to try acupuncture, and this two-million-year-old practice is pretty miraculous. I knew it would be. One of the good things, too, is that Jason Wilson, M.S.O.M., L.Ac is a practical person who also lets the spirit move him. I have practiced creative visualization and Louise Hay (affirmations) for over 20 years, so I know I'm on the right path. He will answer any question I ask, but for the first time in my life, I simply let go and truly trusted the process. Is it my attitude? Is it ancient herbal and acupuncture techniques that have helped people for thousands of years? Don't know. Don't need to know. I'm just grateful. My body is healing itself on levels I could not have predicted. My skin is great. My headaches are gone. My arthritis is non-existent (I have to struggle to remember how awful I felt), and I am aligned with spirit. It has been what some call "a religious experience." I'm not a spring chicken, but I feel like one. What more can I ask!
