The Ventura County Sheriff refuses to enforce drunk and impaired driving laws when the offenders…read moreare California Lutheran Students. Officers have gone as far as falsifying material facts about residents who attempt to report this crime. Students have also threatened residents with physical violence and attempted in one instance to assault someone. All of this has been documented and the sheriff refuse to do anything about it despite receiving hundreds of calls from concerned citizens. Calls to service are withheld in the form of police not showing up to check out the crime for over an hour -- something that only happens when the university name is mentioned. Deputy Fox who has witnessed this crime has been barred from speaking to the community and from enforcing the law. When asked about this problem, officer Dan McCarthy said, "This is just what college kids do all across the nation." The normalization of drunk driving is a theme that goes from CLU to the Sheriff office and carries through to city council who also have no interest in doing anything. We are in danger and the police are lying about what is going on. Thousand Oaks is no longer the safe city it once was and my family is looking at other places to live. Dan McCarthy, Sargeant Ogonowski, and deputy Fox should be ashamed of themselves -- but these men have no shame and don't give a damn about our community. Officer Hernandez was showed video of a student admitting he was driving impaired and said, "We can't go do a door knock or investigate this because they're at their dorms and that would disturb their peace." Calls to service for impaired CLU students average ~60 minutes. Calls to service average ~5 to 15 minutes when CLU students are not mentioned. The only thing you can expect from the Ventura County Sheriff Office is: CORRUPTION AND NEGLIGENCE.

So i got warned about a law that didn't apply to me, and warned about a different violation that i was hours away from being illegal. So two officers spent time telling me things i have full awareness of, and rude about it to boot, and being a long time resident 60 years in TO... funny you got nothing better to do but harass a senior citizen for absolutely nothing.. Actually that just proves you guys are keeping crime out - if you have the time to harass my ass ! Then Keep up the good work!
