Very engaging storyteller was able to entrance the wide range of ages in attendance. Then there was the bubble machine. And a bucket of toys to free-play with. Get there early as space is limited. I noticed they had to turn away a few people. The children's area has lots of fun spaces too. If that had happened to us, we still would have found plenty to do there.

Everything from the layout to the very friendly and informed staff is great. I love the work tables/workstations for setting up my computer and working on my graphic arts business. The ambiance, layout, lighting, and traffic makes for a great balance between being able to concentrate and yet have the feeling of being surrounded by a nice buzz of quiet activity. The hours are good, though I miss the good old days when libraries were open late on Friday evenings, and some even open on Sunday afternoons.

The library itself is beautiful! Murals, art, shells, and history of Fort Myers is all over the library. This is definitely the better library in SWFL, certainly worth taking a drive out for.

Unlike what is left of the Charlotte libraries, I never left a Lee county library empty handed. Unfortunately, I believe the reason for that is the difference in the size of the population. I'm sure Lee gets a much larger amount of funding. So much so that they have enough books to actually seperate them by type, making it easier to find what you're looking for. There is no excuse I can think of to not have a complete set of a series though. Has happened to me enough times that I no longer take out any part of a series. I tend to just be glad we have a library at all considering the state of things today. Overall I believe these people are doing the best they can with what they have to work with.

Just about anything I'm interested in reading is only available electronically. The Biographies and History sections are minimal. Fiction is no better - as an example, they'll have one book from a series of seven, maybe 3 books from a series of 15 and a 32-book series has only 10 books - and they're not in series order. You cannot only get books and movies, but you can get kits to cook different items with cookbooks and pans, tons of games to play with your family when the sun has gone down at night, and even passes to local attractions, like the Bailey Matthews Shell Museum, and the Edison Winter Estate! Definitely a value beyond the $10. You might think this is a small town so the library will not have a lot of titles, but I was really pleasantly surprised at how many copies they had in stock of recent best sellers, popular movies, etc. We also took our baby to the baby and toddler story time on Tuesday morning, which was a great event that we all really enjoyed! The staff putting it on were welcoming and everyone had a lot of fun.
